Um...as this ludicrous thread has rug on and on I have come to the conclusion that its just a bunch of young'uns living in the moment and largely left it alone, but young or not, you don't get to rewrite history.

Iggy was a good player before Golden State, in much the way orn Harper was a good player before Chicago. Or Mike Conley has been a good player for Memphis. Top end non-AllStar. But he was never "tremendous". Never elite. Certainly never Top 10. Possibly never Top 20, although he may have been there for a few years. He averaged 19+pts a game 1 single time. He made one single All Star game, that was largely a pity "well the East sucks, why not" nod in a season where he averaged 12.4pts a game. He's never been, or gotten close to, All NBA. He has always been a very good defender, but has a grand total of 2 All Defense team nods in 15 years in the NBA. His career PER is 15.7. A 15.0 PER is flat average. PPG average is 12.1.

Now let's compare that resume to a swingman who just made the HOF this year after waiting 30 years. And it was controversial, and maybe he should not have made it:

Igoudala
1x All Star
2x All Defense
0x All NBA

Moncrief
5x All Star
5x All Defense
2x DPOY
5x All NBA

Guys don't get elected to the HOF just because they got lucky enough to sign with a bunch of champions. Many equal or better roleplayers of the same ilk as Iggy have never even been considered for the HOF. Harper was never considered. Michael Cooper never considered. Bruce Bowen never considered. Ron Artest won't be considered. Robert Horry is not being considered. Nor Rick Fox. Iggy was a really good player for a long time. Let him be that.

Robert Horry legit is being robbed not being in the HOF. He was the legit best role player ever and likely the most clutch player of his generation despite being a role player. He personally swung at least 3 Championships

He is role player, he shouldn't get in.

A player who single handedly swings 3 NBA Championships should be in the HOF. Horry's impact on the NBA was 100x greater than Divac. Diva's biggest NBA accomplishment was being a solid starter on the Kings. Horry literally was deciding multiple Championships and changing legacies.

If you're asking whether he'll be voted in... the answer is undoubtedly, yes. There are other HOFers with far less credentials. Plus Iggy could beast on dunks back in the day. Shoot, how close was Iggy off his Sixers resume alone? He has been a productive player his entire career. Non-believers should not forget to check out his defensive stats, too.

He's on the fringe because of his longevity and his rings, but I don't think he's HOF worthy.

I don't think his individual peak warrants it. He was an amazing player, but we are talking about the HOF aren't we? I just don't see Iggy as being meaningful enough to get the nod. I'm sure worse guys have snuck in and it's fine if you use that as the basis for your argument, but for me, looking at Iggy's resume I think he falls short as a HOF player.

If he lands another finals MVP I think that would be the kind of accolade that'd swing it for me, but until then I think he still falls short (but should get recognition for his impact on the record setting Warriors etc.).

Gotta remember, Iggy sacrificed his entire offensive game in the middle/near end of his prime when he came to the Warriors.

All the intangibles he brings to the table...mmmmmmmmmmmohmygawwwwwd.

However, the HOF is all about the individual accomplishments. Can't argue 3 'chips and a FInals MVP.

Divac, again, got in for what he did in international play to go along with NBA play. This is not the NBA hall of Fame but the BASKETBALL hall of fame. If this was just the NBA, Divac would not get in my opinion.

There have been a few players that have hit big shots in multiple championship games but would not be considered to be a hall of Famer, Steve Kerr is one I remember. There is more to being a hall of famer than finals shots.

he was more or less a Khris Middleton level player in Philly if we're being honest...maybe slightly better but was fringe all-star in a weak conference same with Middleton.

yea, as much as I love Iggy - they don't make many like him, he's just not a HoF. at some point the HoF is gonna become completely meaningless if we're just gonna throw everyone in there if it isn't already...

he was pretty much already out of his prime when he signed here...went from averaging 13ppg to 9ppg in 32 mins that year, also saw drops in rebounds, assists and steals.

Khris Middleton is a really good comparison.

If James Worthy is Hall of Famer, so is Iggy, and last time I checked Worthy was.

Thing I remember about Iguodala is from years ago when both he and LeBron were on Team USA and LeBron said, "Besides, if we need to shut someone down we just put Iguodala on him."

7x allstar vs 1x allstar. Come on now...we all know how the hall generally thinks.

Now with the above said, I'd agree what worthy shouldn't have been a 7 time allstar and honestly is massively overrated. Still he was seen as a star at his peak and Iggy wasn't. Also Worthy's advanced stats do look a bit better in the playoffs which helps his case vs Iggy.

Hahahaha good one!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

I voted yes because of his accolades, but numberwise I could see why he wouldn't make it.

Oh god, another popularity contests fan.
I'm sure you would like to change the NBA to figure skating format, where judges, or the fans, give each team a mark after game, and whoever got the best mark wins.

you're right, let's ignore the stats and accolades, your opinion means more.
