So you think Scott couldn't help Ben then? Even If Ben starts shooting with his dominant hand?

Exactly. Are the sixers going to allow this. It boggles my mind .

I don’t know about nba contracts, but they prob can’t tell him to not practice with his brother in his free time. If they wanted to they could ban his brother from the facility, but that not going to, and shouldn’t, happen.

However, after Fultz’ personal coach screwed him up, teams should prob have input regarding who in providing instruction to their players. Kawhi was receiving medical treatment from a doctor who worked for the Sixers, while he was being paid millions by the Spurs.

Ultimately, you can only have so much control over a player’s decision when he is not at a team function, which is difficult since you are investing multi-millions in the player.

I picture Brett Brown as Jackie Child’s, Ben as Kramer, and Ben’s brother as kramer’s Caddy. “I been coaching basketball for 30 years, and you’re listening to your brother???”

The Sixers can provide coaches with a better coaching resume than Ben’s brother, but they can’t force him to want to work with them.

Did Ben's brother tell him to put a balm on his shooting arm?

Lol. I was going to use that example, but the balm actually worked. Lol

Haha, yeah, but no one can tell what a balm's gonna do. They're unpredictable!

The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III

Is Ben Simmons’s game similar to D Green’s?
I think it’s extremely effective.

Felt like Ben’s taking a back seat when Embiid is on the court, much like Durant hinders the game of draymond.....

100%.

All they have to do is shift Simmons to the PF & sign a starting PG who can shoot. Not sure that will happen though.

So u mean Biid doesn’t max out Ben’s game? I think both are not a good fit with one another

I like Ben to be like Draymond, but Ben just doesnt have that motor

Ben's motor is as elite as anyone in the NBA , it's his motivation to go at 100% that is the problem.

Team situation could well be a source of this.

Whether it is or not I'm sure we all wish he was more engaged all the time.

Draymond isnt Draymond without 2 of the best shooters in NBA history flanking him. That role doesnt work on this team.

Yeah, I don't think Draymond would actually prosper on our team...he and Embiid would clog the paint, and there wouldn't be enough firepower from outside. Which makes me question Ben's effectiveness in the context of this team, even if he eventually develops some kind of a shot. It will take some mighty sorcery from coaching staff to find him an appropriate role on this team, hopefully they eventually succeed.

Could say the exact same thing with Embiid.
If Embiid is as healthy as Simmons, I’d be in the trade Simmons camp in a heart beat, but the reality is, Embiid will never be healthy and manage to play more than 3/4 of a season.

Yep

Forget basketball, Simmons is an elite athlete

Dude is 6’10”, the quickest in the league and rarely looks tired

GSW in current format (no Boogie, etc) play quicker as game goes on and are running teams off their feet

Ben would flourish in that situation but we don’t have players to do it

What percentage of his problem is no touch around the basket, no touch 3 feet from the basket, no 8-10 foot jumper, no 10-22 foot jumper, free throw shooting, sloppy passes when he leaves his feet without knowing where he's going with the ball?

lol at wanting Ben to be like Draymond Green. Ben is WAYYYYYYYYYY more talented than Green, so if that is all he can be, he is a massive disappointment, he has to be much better than that considering his ridiculous talent, otherwise he has zero merit.

“Thon Maker withdrew from the Australian Boomers)selection process as his Detroit Pistons preferred him to concentrate on his development in their off-season.”

Why doesn’t the sixers force Ben to focus on development like Detroit did to Maker?

Spoiled brat....

We all know Brett Brown doesn't have a backbone when it comes to Ben so obviously they aren't gonna tell Ben anything. I do wonder what Ben is doing now though. Is he on holiday or is he working on that jumper? Dennis Scott is covering the playoffs according to his insta so he's certainly not working with Ben yet. I've personally lost all faith in his lefty jumper being fixed because his elbow will always be sticking out sideways with that form, so imo he either switches to shooting righty or it's gonna be a bust.

Maker is simply not talented enough, yeah 7ft tall and did fancy stuff in HS, but reality is, he is below average in almost all skills. He is a hard worker, just has below average touch, not that coordinated, bad IQ and has that sudanese body type where it is almost impossible to gain weight.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s out of the league in a year or 2

Apart from anything else, I also question his age and chances are it was man vs boys in HS as kids from certain areas arrive in Australia without birth records

If that’s the case then his ceiling is pretty low

As for Simmons, he will almost certainly be working as hard as anyone in the squad as they’re not social games and the pressure on him to perform at home will be big

Aussies re playing USA in front of about 60k people, fair bit of pressure on him to play these series.

I have a mate who works in advertising here saying BS wants to lift his profile here in oz, has approached multiple firms to do so

Gee i'd wish he's just shoot more instead

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
