Pat Beverly has 'only' made $25 mil total in his career. I'd expect he goes to whatever team will pay him the most since this might be his last chance at a nice payday. Now I'm not sure the suns need to get in any of type of bidding war for Beverly but I do think he's going to be pretty open minded as to where he could land.

I think beggars can't be choosers, and someone is going to want that $$$$ and sign here. Whoever is offering the most.
I do agree that Beverley and Collison wouldn't want to play here. That is why I didn't think Conley is a good option, though I thought he would be if he did, or really liked him as a possibility a year ago, but you don't want that contract if he doesn't want it.
But obviously with Beverley and Collison, we only would be able to sign them if they didn't have better options, and I think both are the type that would more likely embrace where they were and try to prove how they could make a difference with the team. But they could also take the money and be like Ariza....Collison played under Monty before and Beverley always seems to be gung ho wherever so I have less concern.
But that's the problem with finding a PG. A guy like Brogdon who would be a top choice for me playing for the championship likely this year wouldn't be particularly happy or most others who have had success, so it's tough.
That's one really good thing about Tyler Johnson. He is not ideal, but he will play hard. It will be tough to find a guy who is a good fit and would be happy. That's why I listed that I wouldn't be sure of order of preference...it would depend. Also why I mentioned earlier it would be most ideal to find that under the radar guy like Dinwiddie was when Brooklyn got him. Not sure who that is.
I don't see why Beverly or Collison wouldn't want to play here. I think with the hiring of James Jones, Monty Williams, and the rest of this new staff, that all players/agents are going to give us a shot if we gave them a call. I think McDonough didn't resonate with the players like Jones will, especially with the way he handled a lot of instances (Bledsoe, IT, Dragic, etc).
I'm really believing in this whole culture change from the front office. Sure we still won't see players like Durant, Kyrie, or Kemba but these journeymen type players I don't see why they wouldn't hear us out.

Of the free agent point guards that I actually think we MIGHT have a chance at with only 9 million available. And without making any moves to increase our cap.
Here's my preference:
1- Tomas Santoransky.
2- Jeremy Lin.
3- Jeff Teague.
4- Derrick Rose.
5- Rajon Rondo.
6- TJ McConnell.
7- Shelvin Mack.
8- Jerryd Bayless.
9- Isiah Thomas.
10- Emmanuel Mudiay.
All of those players, though some a bit old, Would be the best floor general leader types that we could hope for, IF we're bargain shopping.

Derrick Rose and being floor general.

Rubio
McConnell
Satoransky
Joesph
Payton
Beverly
Collison
Lin
Rozier
Rose
Ish Smith
Thomas
I’d add Burke, Wright (R) and Jones (R) to the list. And Wright for the MLE might be one or the better options next to Booker - multi-position size, strong D and secondary playmaking.

Lol...He did a pretty good job of leading the wolves in limited playing time last season, Especially against us.
So maybe he's not your traditional floor general type of leader. But he gets it done still.

I'm super on board with tomas if we can clear up cap room, the only complaints I've seen of him from wizard fans is that he "wants to make the right play too much" and "can't depend on him to be aggressive down the stretch." which sounds perfect to me because I got 3 guys ahead of you were are drawing up plays for so get them the **** ball.
"Mannnnn I’m like the guy that pissed this whole board off saying literally all year no Mikal, no Mikal in the KD trade."

Jones is going to probably need to get an undervalued signing that blossoms. And has been mentioned, Tyler came in and did some positive things.
I actually think the Suns will end up with more than the 9.2m exception - I see a couple trades happening.

Tomas has great size at the point, but I wish his assists were higher as a starter. But I would be happy with a decent contract.

One can hope.
I hope it will give us some sort of clue as to his strategy and overall plan for the offseason. But I do agree that some trades will have to be made in order to actually be legitimate players in free agency this summer.
As us being a desirable free agent destination is not yet part of equation. So far we know that there may be interests in combo guards. But not much else. Cryptic as always it seems.

Re: Free agency and trade ideas: Which wings do we go after this summer?
Satoransky and McConnell and Tyus Jones are not too different from Tyler Johnson.
I'm trying to paste the basketball reference tables here but this forum tools couldn't be less intuitive about it.
http://bkref.com/pi/shareit/yFu5i
http://bkref.com/pi/shareit/QDhe1
Tyler is more of a scorer than facilitator, which are the stats that stand out the most, but he also has the lowest TO%, so he can take good care of the ball. His shooting is not the best, but he also took a lot more shots, so it would probably even out with others.
I don't think we would be upgrading the position with any of these players over him. We might save cap space, which is good, but it's only a 1-year problem for us anyway.
Keep Tyler. He is good enough, and probably our best alternative given we don't have a shot at the premium PG's. Use our assets for a PF difference maker (Bobby Portis, cough cough).

But the Suns are not even Kevin Durant away from being good./ They need multiple players to get better. So, that means adding a guard that can rotate with Booker and Tyler. With either Okobo or Melton getting minutes too
The Suns also need a 4. Whether its somebody like Tevon Looney who may not be the most skilled player - and probably more a 5 but a guy that can get rebounds and defend; maybe the next level like Aminu or Thad Young; or finally a player like MIrotic
The Suns need 2 if not 3 players to add to the rotation and not rookies. So this idea that Tyler will do - I think thats fine. But they still need than somebody off the bench - Corey Joseph type.

Not sure why they want all these scrub PG's

Is there any world in which raptors trade pascal this summer? Can’t imagine so but I’d try to build package around #6, Warren, Jackson, and future protected first.

I'm not so sure that it's about wanting them, As much as it is about having to accept the sad reality that without executing some moves to acquire additional cap space.
We'll be heading into free agency with only 9 million and not realistically be players in free agency to any degree that would allow us to get an impact player.
Which again is why, much to the lament of many on this board, I do see Jackson and Warren getting moved in a trade soon. Perhaps even Johnson too.
Due to the fact that I'm sure Jones is aware that in order to take an actual step towards measurable improvement,
We need to utilize our available assets to ensure that we can acquire more than one quality free agent.
As our roster needs improvement at multiple positions. As realized I believe by Jones himself. Evidenced by him referencing 5 preferred targets.

Probably not. If they lose Leonard they need someone to build around.
I could see them dangle him and other pieces in an Anthony Davis trade package. Likely not a guy that will make the Pels get excited but they will shoot high if they look to move him.

At first I thought it was a typo, but now that I've seen you type it 5x or so, his name is Kevon Looney, not Tevon Looney.
