Well, I was wrong the 1st time, because in my mind AZ was ET -2 (I don't know why I thought that, I know it's not), so at 9:00 AZ I made my first post saying "starts in 30 min". 30 min later I opened the link and it had a countdown saying "60 min left", so I edited the 1st post to "60"min", but thought it would also update the time of the post, which it didn't. So I should have edited it to "90 mins".
Complicated?
Time is just a mental construct, anyway.
I know. Everything is happening right now. I'm actually watching the press conference as I wait for it...I just don't realize it in my present state.
Ok, 30 min to go! Kidding, it's on now
I liked Monty.
Cool things he said:
1) Compared our players to some former greats, but said "we must make these comparisons carefully. I want our players to be the best version of themselves, and not be put in a box"
2) System will depend on the players. It would be irresponsible to force something upon them that might not fit.
3) Culture comes first. It's the little things that build a winning team, and they are planning on how to create these habits during summer already. It can't be left to figure it out in October, only. With the culture set, the rest comes easier.
4) He likes Sarver. Said he didn't dodge the hard questions, and also made a few to him that showed him he was passionate and diligent.
5) Collaboration. It's clear he and Jones have similar mindsets and will be working together in several decisions. But he understands they have different roles, and they both trust each other to make the best decisions for their respective jobs.
6) When answering about getting to know our players, he mentioned (among others) that he texted Kelly. Seems he'll be here, after all.
7) On the Josh Jackson thing (guys taking sentences without context and trying to influence judgment with it really pisses me off. Yes, you, Sidery!), he said people make mistakes, and they also grow. He is an example of that, and wants to talk to Josh Jackson, look him in the eye, and try to be part of the solution. But Josh needs to want it too (and therefore the "if I can")
