But Butler could not beat a double team with pocket passes on three straight possessions in the clutch. Markelle Fultz was supposed to be that guy. But we know what happened there. Ben Simmons will be a terrific screen and diver (better than Ed Davis or Jarrett Allen who were excellent finishers for Russell). And when you run it off of Joel Embiid, then Ben is there for the alley-oop if his man leaves to help. Problem is, I dont see Walker leaving, or the Nets letting Russell go--unless Kyrie signs with the Nets.

B) Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon would be a score. Doubt seriously that Bucks let Brogdon walk. Not sure Middleton is worth $30m/yr.

C) Assuming they do not leave their respective clubs, investigate trades for Jrue Holiday and/or Otto Porter. Who knows what the Pelicans are going to do with Jrue? Porter may be on the block if the Bulls take Cam Reddish. Charlotte will pay us to take Nicolas Batum, like Denver paid us to take Wilson Chandler. Kent Bazemore should be available for cheap.

D) The two most underrated free agents in the league happen to fit our needs perfectly, and both are on a team that can't afford to bring them back: The Washington Wizards' Tomas Satoransky and Thomas Bryant Jr. We need a 6'6 ballhandler to run the pick and roll as explained above, and we desperately need a 6'11 23 yr old center with mobility and range to backup Joel Embiid.

E) Ideal would be D'Angelo Russell, Kris Middleton and Thomas Bryant Jr. Realistically, Satoransky, Mirotic, Bryant Jr., Batum, Redick, Mike Scott.

Ben Simmons, JJ Redick, Middleton/Porter/Batum, Nikola Mirotic, Joel Embiid
Tomas Satoransky, Zhaire Smith, Mike Scott, James Ennis, Thomas Bryant Jr.
Shamorie Ponds, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, Jonah Bolden, Daniel Gafford
Bro Mirotic is not good.

Neither is Batum. And a lineup of Redick and Mirotic will get killed on defense.

I will be very upset if the Sixers don’t bring back Harris, Butler and Redick.

pretty sure WAS loves Bryant. Can't see them letting him go for what we can offer (ie not much!)

you guys will be surprised at the impact if we lose jj and it will not be on defense. it amazes me how much people want to replace him with players who are unacceptable. to win a championship it takes certain types of players that can fill a role and be happy. chemistry and character are sometimes as important as being 8 feet tall with 10 ft arms!

They've got a lot of contributors set to be free agents this summer, and a lot of guys getting paid a lot that weren't contributors.

Ariza, Satoranksi, Bryant, Parker, Portis, Green

Meanwhile John Wall and Ian Mahimi will be eating up 54M in cap.

Parker is garbage. Once they clear his cap hold, they have plenty of maneuverability for next year. Wall is a bigger problem they can’t even begin to solve until 2020.

Tomas Satoransky looks good on paper, but he's an unproductive wallflower. He's a 10-15th roster spot guy, at best.

He's no more productive than T.J. McConnell, Wilson Chandler, James Ennis, Mike Muscala or Amir Johnson.

Enough of these fake-useful bench pieces.

We need guys to provide scoring production so we don't have to rely so heavily on the 5 guys in our starting lineup over the course of 48 minutes every night.

I don't care, anything to avoid watching his punchable face and the DHO crap, also shooting in transition with a hand in his face give me a break.

Sure, they've got some maneuverability salary wise after moving Porter. Do they really want to give that right back away to bring back a team that missed the playoffs? They should re-sign a few of those guys, but I don't think they'll bring them all back.

-Offer Embiid+Simmons for Zion
-Sign Mario Hezonja for the minimum
-Sign Carmelo Anthony for the minimum
You have a generational player plus Butler, while having 2 more productive players.

Oh man. This is definitely in the correct thread, and I'm not sure what I'd do. I guess watch baseball, or paint dry.

lol

NO wouldn't take that deal
Mario and Melo suck. (Mario probably would go back to europe before taking that deal also).

And that team even w/ Zion would barely make the playoffs.

For a thread that was started on the premise of let's discuss the worst case scenario, it has managed to take an even more decidedly dark turn.

Retire early to Orlando and watch Fultz pretend to be hurt some more.

I guess I just think he’s the only guy on that list really worth resigning. /shrug I’d love to get him, I just don’t think they let him go.

Probably true, but that hasn't stopped them in the past. I say they throw 20M at Ariza/Green and push for that 9th seed!

Simmons is a Klutch Sports guy...he will fly the moment he gets a chance to. the moment Embiid hits the market, it will be obvious his body is donezo. I'm not even super duper high on Zion but he represents a fresh new start...Embiid on a max and Ben on one soon makes it very difficult to built a full team in one year. And most importantly, doesn't work from a Cap standpoint.

Its one of those ideas that have no place in reality due to context but also just reality. Doesn't mean I hate Ben or JoJo...doesn't mean I think Zion is god. It is just a colossal waste of time to even think about that scenario due to a bunch of reasons.
