No I'm just really surprised so many people stuck with the last two seasons seeing as all the fans of the previous seasons didn't get anything out of it.

You're also surprised by basic math, apparently.

At least I didn't waste my time watching a show I hate.

Yeah, what a crazy concept. Watching the last 6 episodes of a show you watched 67 episodes of (often multiple times) already. And **** me for giving D&D the benefit of the doubt that they could pull together a decent final season after like 18 months to work on it, I guess. It's obvious now that they didn't deserve it because they're hacks, so you do have a decent point.

I really really like the first 4 seasons (and to what miltown said the scene with Cersei and Robert talking....Arya scenes with the Hound, etc were a lot of my favorite stuff). The writing was really good because GRRM wrote it, or at least influenced it very much. The last 4 had some great moments but my god was the writing terrible. And I get off on good writing.

Overall, very good show, just really disappointed in the last 2 seasons. Truly glad it's over because I think my wife would've ended up divorcing me if there were more episodes and I continued to laugh at inappropriate times (due to horrendous writing).

Such as?

Spoiler:
Tyrion, smartest man in Westeros, devises absurd plan to maybe convince notoriously untrustworthy Cersei to join their cause (who they don't need) at ridiculous cost. But...need ice dragons.

Stannis, best strategist in Westeros, a military genius, gets entire camp obliterated by Ramsey's night ninjas. A man of duty agrees to a plan that isn't guaranteed to work at ridiculous cost. But...have to burn Shireen.

Daenerys and crew at Dragonstone don't notice Euron's fleet sailing 20 feet past them like 7 times. But...gotta have an unexpected pincer attack.

And so on.

Spoiler:
Bran, character with magical powers of potentially enormous influence, basically accomplishes nothing after he reaches the 3ER and somehow ends up as King?

Dany, a woman who spends years talking about mercy and justice and fairness, decides to nuke a city and slaughter millions.

Were we going to discuss this further?

It's a fantasy TV show about magic and dragons man.

The best thing about this show is that it was about so much more than that. Then it became a hollow show about magic and dragons.

no... it was always about that but for the first 6 seasons that stuff was talked about as if it may not exist and whether it was real even tho we knew it was. once the show had to acknowledge the whole thing theyd set up and actually put the confrontations on the screen there wasn't any way to make the emphasis on making this a political drama anymore. at some point once the confrontations actually took place then this was the outcome and there wasn't any way around it.

so either keep up the intrigue and spend just show the aftermath of the great battles..... or show the great battles and mop up the intrigue. the show didn't need to go 15 seasons. it was a great show and it ended. 5 seasons of people bitching about what was happening would have been worse than 2.

I watched the last episode again last night and liked it. I ould easily watch the whole 8 seasons start to finish again and knowing how it all ends maybe even enjoy it just the same the 2nd time.

You can shift the focus to dragons and magic in a way that still adheres to the established logic of the universe.

They took increasingly implausible liberties with this logic. It went from characters creating moments to moments forcing nonsensical character actions.

^^^ I put spoiler tags in. Let's keep details about the ending as spoilers for another day or so. I know most everyone who wants to watch has watched but just in case. :)

GoS hit it spot on re: the show always being destined for this point. I was saying similar things before S8 began. All 6 eps couldve been The Long Night and I wouldve been ecstatic.

Rodgers is dumb.

A question for the GOT book readers.

What exact power and rewards comes from being on the Iron Throne, be it a king or queen?

Do the other six kingdoms have to pay a tax to whoever is sitting on the Iron Throne at that given time? If so, does the king or queen have to send their army to go collect any time a kingdom decides, screw you, i'm not paying ?

Given the long distances which often separates each kingdom from each other, it would seem to me that unless a king or queen on the Iron Throne had a clearly very dominant army/navy compared to everyone else so as to be able to enforce any of their commands, being that king/queen would come with little actual power.

I've been wondering about this for awhile because so many leaders of armies have desired to take their place on the Iron Throne, but beyond the status symbol of being called the leader of the realm, i haven't seem much else of substance that makes being that king or queen all that special compared to the regular kings/queens of the other kingdoms. And being on the Iron Throne makes you a constant target.

What am i missing?

Spoiler:
i feel like the ultimate twist in the saga should have been that the greatest threat to the realm was not some foreign “other” (as threatening as it may be) but rather willfully handing some ambitious, charismatic leader with the potential for great evil (always justified with self righteousness) ultimate power.

Like, the entire series, you’ve been watching this guy up here but in reality this little girl who you were always rooting for despite the fact she was routinely murdering people was actually the big bad monster.

In retrospect, i feel this was alluded to in the show with winter fully descending on kings landing once Dany took power and the promise of spring once a more democratic governance model was accepted. However, the execution was poor. They needed a slower burn establishing Dany as a somewhat ambiguous monster (but she’s burning people for right reasons, but does the reason matter?), rather than some one off lapse of reason.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

It all makes sense now. The last couple seasons turn GOT into a CW show.

John Wick 3 was absolutely fantastic.

It was my favorite of the trilogy thus far. The action set pieces in 3 are absolutely amazing.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure what my deal was but I couldn't connect with this one like the last two. Felt like they were grasping at straws from a plot perspective by the end. Fight scenes were well choreographed but just didn't get me super excited. Feel like maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for this one. I wanted more depth to the 'hero's journey' he's on but left feeling unsatisfied.
I know that's not the overarching point of the movie. It's about fights and action but I wanted something more.

Spoiler:
I mean, from a plot point John Wick kind of ends up in the same place after 3 that he was at the beginning of 3, maybe a little worse off now. He has the high-table coming for him now after failing to kill Winston. I thought the Winston heel turn was unexpected. So overall from a plot perspective, not much happened in regard to advancing Wick's plot, so I do agree with you there.

I did think the last fight scene dragged on a little bit too long, with the repeated disappearing acts. I thought the fight scene with Halle Berry, the final Continental with the armored soldiers, and the throwing-knives encounter were all absolutely fantastic.

Idk, I just really like the world that they have created with these movies. I'm also just a big Keanu fan, both of the actor and the person, so I watch most of his movies with rose-colored glasses  .
