Goga Bitadze:
More impressively, he broke the record for top PER by a teenager in EuroLeague history, according to Hoops Rumors. Luka Doncic had set that mark in the 2017-2018 season

Who cares what Reddish did in 10th grade against Publix cashiers. He **** the bed against the highest level of competition he's ever faced. There were circumstances involved that altered his role; however:

1. His numbers without Zion in the lineup were still awful.
2. He didn't just have a bad season; he had an all-time bad season for a freshman who's projected to go in the Top-10.

It's hard to sit here and talk about tools and skillset, when they aren't effective and come with significant concern about intangibles. If it were all about tools and skillset without some sort of measurement of effectiveness, Kris Dunn would be a much better player than he is right now.

Yet he’s projected to go top 10 still. But you refuse to acknowledge that might mean something more is there.

Someone else just brought up a great point by accident: what are hunters numbers after his freshman season if he plays? What do you say then? Most players aren’t allowed to fail like Reddish did. But Coach K still had faith in him. More than Roy seemed to with Little.

DeAndre Hunter is definitely an above average athlete with above average physical tools. His physical profile definitely matches Kawli's with similar defensive prowess, and a better three ball.

As for his ball handling skills, I personally think that he has better ball handling skills than what he has shown on college tapes. I'll leave that area for GarPax to make the judgment call in private workouts.

Calling DeAndre Hunter ceiling as a role player is a stretch. The dude is young enough with enough physical tools and bball IQ to be a star in this league, assuming that he has an elite work ethic.

No its pretty spot on.

Hm... Thanks for the garbage analysis. Why respond like a 3 yo to pad your post count?

Nassir Little is still a better NBA player than Reddish in limited mins. If anything, it's a growing testament that Coach K is now a garbage coach who doesn't hold players accountable for mistakes.

These hypotheticals are worthless towards evaluation.

It's not just the fact that Reddish underwhelmed; it's the fact he had an all-time awful season for a player projected to be drafted in the Top 10. His intangibles look awful, which is a HUGE concern if you're trying to imagine NBA stardom. You can have all the tools you want, but if your intangibles are trash you're not doing anything: See Andrew Wiggins, Tyrus Thomas, Ben McLemore, countless others.

I fully acknowledge that Reddish will go in the lottery, but it doesn't dismiss any of the points being made in this thread. He's coming into the NBA with obvious red flags that could result in him being a bust. Does that mean he will be a bust? No, but it's extremely difficult to claim that he has superstar upside.

Reddish will be a fascinating study, regardless of who drafts him. Same with Little. Especially on the eve of returning to preps-to-pros.

As for the Bulls specifically, falling to 7 has scrambled my mind. I can’t dispute the iron clad logic and data supporting Red’s view of Reddish. Moreover, in even more subjective takes, I have for many years always put great stock in Red’s draft evaluations. And yet, I would absolutely be fine with taking Reddish and hoping for the best.

Maybe I’m just a beaten, desperate man.

This reminds me of Rashan Gary in the NFL draft. He was the #1 overall player coming out of high school. In 3 years at Michigan he had 9.5 sacks in 34 games. His numbers make him a mid round pick at best but because of his athletic profile he was looked at as a top 10 player. You even had people excusing his poor numbers saying he wasn't used right at Michigan.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The reason Reddish is even considered at 7 is because this draft class is really weak at 7 and you can trick yourself into thinking quite a few players who will be available there have high upside. Reddish is just one of many that fit that mold. Getting 7 really hurt and changed everything.

This is also why I've moved Goga up my board. Proven, young and can shoot arguably as good as Reddish (maybe better).

How in the hell does Tyler Herro have a -3 wingspan? 6'6"HT, 6'3" WS.

That's just odd.

Fluid mover and more athletic than you think. Has produced in a tough, mature league. He may end up being better than anyone we're considering. :-?

Nobody on him and in an empty gym, so you have to keep that in mind, but there is a lot to like in that video alone. 7 foot, 19 year old kid coming off screens with a very fluid and pure jumpshot. Plenty of tape on him doing this in games and dominating in the euros so you know its not just him having a solid moment in a gym.

I don't know, he's growing on me.

It’s easy to ignore the hypotheticals when they don’t suit your purpose. Hunter would have had abysmal stats with that type of usage at Duke as a freshman. Just keep that in mind before you dismiss Reddish.

Hypotheticals are worthless because there's no way to prove it one way or the other. It's a poor thing to build an evaluation process around.

What we do know is that Reddish showed nothing to indicate believable superstar upside in college from a skill, decision making, or intangibles standpoint. Hoping that him dominating Baskin Robbins employees in high school was a permanent sign of NBA stardom seems like extremely wishful thinking.

Him shooting rhythm jumpers in an open gym tells me squat about reversing course on those flaws.
