I dont have the article, and the credibility is not Rick solid. But there was an interview with a female Latvian celebrity (actress?) and she talked about how nice it is in Latvia and how respectable everyone is unless you are a do what I want kinda person. Nope, that's not what Zach Lowe reported (around March 2019). The Knicks offer probably happened after the draft lottery and before the draft like where we are at now. I'm sure you were like most Kings fans happy to be getting Luka Doncic or Deandre Ayton as default at #2. Thus, the Kings could've had Doncic at #2 and traded Fox for Porzingis. Fox didn't become a bonafide star until this season.

That's not what the report says.

"A previous version of this column stated that a potential offer from the New York Knicks centered around Kristaps Porzingis that would have required Sacramento to either send something beyond Fox or take unwanted Knicks salary, or both, was, according to sources, discussed at the time of the 2018 draft; in fact, it was discussed closer to the 2019 trade deadline, before Porzingis was traded to Dallas, sources say."

The offer from NYK was always for Fox plus more.

"The Kings might have been able to leverage Doncic fever by trading down, but they wanted a guaranteed chance at Marvin Bagley III. The pick doubled as a vote of confidence in Fox. They didn't need another ball handler. They wanted a springy big who could run with perhaps the league's fastest player."

My point is Kristaps Porzingis wasn't that bad before the 2018 draft and the Kings would've had a chance to land both Luka Doncic and Porzingis. Porzingis was an All-Star and still rising big man before the 2018 draft. Thus, I could see Vlade being interested back then. However, he had other plans in mind, so the trade never materialized. Instead, it was Cuban and the Mavericks who wanted to have a European foundation.

If it was before the 2019 trade deadline, then KP wasn't worth it. Look at what happened to him -- torn acl, rape allegations, and negative news and perception such as not re-signing with the team he was traded to and getting beat up. Now we are hearing he would've gone back to Europe if the Knicks didn't trade him. Remember we heard all the positive news with his acl recovery while he was still with the Knicks. Once he was traded, then we got all the negative news and it was a bundle. It looks like a hurrible trade for the Mavs, but we'll have to see what happens next season. If Porzingis gets injured again and the negative news continues, then it would be a disaster. If Doncic and Porzingis do not hit it off, then it would be a disaster, too. The expectations for them are in the stratosphere.

I wonder if the Kings would have traded the 2nd pick + Randolph and Shumpert (Knicks take Doncic) for KP. THj and Lee.
Go Knicks!

You aren't alone. I don't think DSJ is anything other than an injury prone chucker so far. Maybe he'll turn it around this Summer. But he's pretty bad, that being said his salary is reasonable he's only 21. If you told me I had to dump 1 of our 4 21 or under players he'd be the first I'd get rid of and I'd keep Frank, Knox and Mitch. Frank at least can do one thing at an NBA starter level. DSJ can't shoot, defend or run a remotely efficient offense, and he's a bit of a diva.

The issue that I have is that guards traditionally take a long time to develop. There's some freaks who are great right away but it's really not that common. He fell into a situation with Luka where nearly every young guy would struggle. Look at all of the young PGs - Ben Simmons would probably be traded if he wound up next to Luka. Same for Fox, Lonzo and Shai. ... The only recent PGs drafted who would be fine to move off the ball would be Trae and Murray. You could go back to DLOs draft but those guys have twice the experience at this point and have developed.

.

Actually and thats the funny part /sad part for DSJ:
After the trade and the Barea injury they put Jalen Brunson in DSJs exactly old spot. He started 39 games, played 30min and averages 14PPG 4RPG and 4.3 APG with 49 FG% and 37% from downtown.

Jalen Brunson is 2nd round pick rookie and 8 months older than DSJ. He played really really well off Luka even with the rest of the S5 being pretty crappy with JJ/Kleber/Powell. Because Brunson is a smart and willing player.

I understand that but Jalen is a shooter. It's much easier for shooters to move off the ball and excel. As you stated, he was able to feed off Luka. DSJ plays a different game. He's a PG, not a SG. For most traditional PGs, at 20-21 years old, it would be an adjustment to not have the ball in your hands. Not to mention, he still has work to do with his shot. He's a penetrating guard. The bigger thing for him is decision-making. His shot will gradually get better but he needs to learn how to be a consistent playmaker. As Fiz said, I don't think he really knows what being in GREAT shape means.. kind of like Oladipo before being traded to Indiana (There's pictures floating around the internet of his before and after).

Time will tell, though. All I'm trying to say is that it's not like he can't be a good-to-great PG. He's just never going to be the Steph Curry style. J-Kidd was an absolutely awful shooter entering the league and was never anything close to elite.

Going clubbing in the offseason is his damn right too.
KP6 got his azz beat up in the bar. He got hit with a chair inside of the bar. The first reports where wrong.

I dont have the article, and the credibility is not Rick solid. But there was an interview with a female Latvian celebrity (actress?) and she talked about how nice it is in Latvia and how respectable everyone is unless you are a do what I want kinda person. She used Porzingis as an example specifically with his treatment of local cops and getting his license suspended

Yeah she said that, and he lost his license.Problem is that female is kinda fckd up with her head.Shes full of herself.Shes a tennis player, who thinks shes so kinda star.Shes been talking some crazy crap for past few years :D

Ok thank you for the context. I have no friggin clue how Porzingis is as a person. I only know what I had turned a blind eye to as a rabid knick fan despite the growing feeling in my gut that he was kind of cancerous

For anyone saying this is an NY media spin job, get familiar with the NY media first. Most have an adversarial relationship with Dolan and they do not do the Knicks' dirty work for the Knicks. They believe the Knicks mouthpieces less than anyone. Sometimes where theres smoke there actually is fire

This is bad on both fronts.

It's bad for Porzingis to threaten them like this. He should be professional enough to respect his contract and let the process play out since, as far as I understand, he'd already requested a trade.

But it's bad for the Knicks to put this out too. As bad as it was for Porzingis, it WAS a private conversation between the two parties. To air it out in public is just as unprofessional as what Kristaps did.

Kind of amazing this was kept quiet until now. The Porzingis trade came out of no where so this 7 day ultimatum does seem plausible.

From what I’ve read they were supposedly trying to trade him since September. Maybe he just got tired of being on the trade block and gave them this ultimatum etc.

We will likely never get the full story. Porzingis has been pretty quiet about the whole thing since he got dealt

Well Phil Jackson floated Porzingis on the trade cloud in the summer of 2017. My theory is that Porzingis has been hinting/requesting a trade for a long time.

From a fans perspective, who was hoping he'd stay with the Knicks, I think they were growing tired of his passive flexing. All us fans could feel it but we tried to write it off or ignore it. I think they wanted to be ready for if he either requested a trade, refused to commit, or they got tired of walking on egg shells with him

Yes every fight in the street is called a "BAR FIGHT"... no matter, if the fight happens at a play ground, casino, hotel or anywhere. It's a bar fight.

The streets of KP home town is lined up with "BAR STOOLS" it's a tradition there. So it's super easy to throw it at someone.

All the reports state they where leaving the bar. Not that they left the bar... hello

The video taken was the aftermath, once the police showed up.... hello

In video if you have a person translate for you, KP states it happened inside and 2 of his friends got knocked out cold. That as they where leaving they got jumped.

But you believe what you want streets are paved with chairs and bar stools. Plus every fight in that country, no matter where it happens.. is called a BAR FIGHT... hello

Zinger sorta comes off as a d-bag but honestly, I cant really fault anyone for not wanting to play for a James Dolan owned team. I know NYK fans have high hopes for this offseason, and they deserve a good team, but deep down I just cant see any team owned by that idiot flourishing. I mean, even with LBJ in LA if the logo calls you up, how do you take NYK over LAC? Not in terms of fanbase, NYK has crazy good fans, but how do you willfully choose to work under James Dolan when LAC has such great ownership. IDK, its not fair. To be hamstrung by ownership is a horrible handicap to have as a fan.
