I wish we could get a 20-30 minute Io/Asuka match in NXT.

Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.

"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."

Takeover's are always great but I don't even watch the weekly shows anymore. They need to be live.

I usually read a review and only watch if there is a good match or two or something exciting happens.

Which still means I watch about 20x more NXT than Raw and Smackdown combined.

Yeah, those are hit or miss, although they're usually at least decent and easy enough to watch at under an hour. They typically break out a really good match every couple of weeks though.

The card during Wrestlemania weekend should be the biggest card of the year for NXT. Bring back one wrestler for one match for Takeover. Let's say Nakamura. I don't follow wrestling news very much so some may be injured or released but wrestlers that could have been on Takeover:Dijakovic, Lee, Moustache Mountain, and Undisputed Era. Ricochet and Black are better off doing singles. The only major complaint I have about NXT:the Takeover cards should be longer. Amazing potential if they added a few more matches.

Good to see Riddick Moss back had completely forgot about him is Tino Sabbatelli (sp?) still with the company
or is he still injured?

The new gimmick for Moss seems kind of stupid and not digging the new haircut but surprised he loses to a jobber
in his return match after missing a year from an achilles injury. Maybe it was a trial run to see how he looks after
missing a year and testing out this new gimmick.

Totally forgot Trevor Lee debuted, I love his moveset. Kill Shot Knee, Fisherman Buster, the various double stomps and apron suplexs.

So, I finally watched Gargano v Almas at TakeOver Philly. I hadn't gotten around to it and at the time, I think I missed the TakeOver due to something...I dunno, I've got 3 kids it's tough to remember that far back, lol. I decided to go back to it because I've been listening to Edge and Christian's podcast and Gargano was on it and they talked about the match. I knew it was a great match but never watched it.

Wow, what a freaking match. Something that stuck out to me though, was the guy (I can't remember his username, daoneandonly maybe?) that kept saying that Gargano's biggest pop was due to his wife and that Gargano is only in the position he's in because of his wife. I know this is super late and delayed and hasn't been talked about in weeks, but did you watch the match? Do you watch NXT at all?

I mean, I don't watch NXT like everyone else does, I usually only watch the TakeOvers because that's all the time I have for wrestling. But even just watching the TakeOvers, I know that Johnny is incredibly over with the crowd, I know that he's an amazing wrestler, puts on classic matches that everyone praises (Dave Meltzer, Edge and Christian, anyone with a brain), he's really good. So for this particular match against Almas for the NXT title. What you may not be understanding person-who-thinks-gargano-is-overrated...is that everyone wanted him to win this match, they thought it was his time to be champ, that he had put in classic match after classic match (two 4 star, two 4.25 star, three 4.5 star according to Dave Meltzer of the WON) and this was going to be it. Almas, as a heel champ with a heel manager, did things that needed to be done in order to win matches. During this match, Zelina Vega broke up a submission hold that could have won Gargano the title...crowd was furious. Then much later in the match when it looks like Johnny is about to win it, she interferes with a hurricarona that seemed like was going to be the finish, that she just cost Johnny Wrestling, the top baby face in the brand (maybe even the company at the time) his title shot, the crowd roared with frustration and anger at her, so this crowd was hot and wanted Vega essentially dead. This was twice now. And then here she comes yet again behind the ref's back, about to f*ck sh*t up but this time, she runs into Candace and the pop you hear is because the crowd didn't want Vega running in again.

This should have been easily understood. Johnny wasn't in this match because he has a hot wife. Johnny wasn't putting on 4+ star matches because he has a hot wife. Johnny wasn't ever elevated even more because he has a hot wife. Your claim that he only got to where he is because he has a hot wife, makes me shake my head in absolute disbelief...you clearly misread that match, the situation, and the pop. You still haven't even said sorry for what you said about Johnny either. It's okay to admit when you're wrong or admit when you've said something silly, such as that. You can say that Gargano isn't one of the best because he has poor or average mic skills. To me, he has average mic skills, but this dude is an amazing talent and one of the best in the company. The last time he had a match that wasn't at least a 4 star rated match was back in mid 2017 (the Royal Rumble doesn't count).

So yeah, this is me bringing back a dead issue while I'm at work avoiding work related responsibilities. Also, I'm not this super huge big Johnny Gargano fan either. I think he's an amazing talent and it's always fun watching his matches. It's similar to respecting Kevin Durant's game and recognizing that he's one of the best in the entire world but not being a fan of him. Alright, back to actual work.

Well I never said only reaosn he is where he si was due to his "hot "wife" But I do stand by the notion that she elevated him, because she clearly did. Otherwise she'd be a complete fixture in the woman's division and their relationship would not be discussed. Why isn't Zelina/Black a thing? Killian/Cross?

I give him credit for being a great wrestler, but he doesn't have the overall package of a DB, KO, Zayn, Rollins, COle, or Kofi. Someone mentioned he's the best babyface there is, part of being that is the promo. He's on the level of an Almas, Nakamura, Black, AJ, etc, and there's absolutley no shame in that, those guys are great workers, but lack the mic skills. But unlike the first 2 I mentioned, he doesn't have a language barrier excuse. And just at the last NXT show, with his promo with Cole, the babyface seemed like a straight dick.

Look at what poster Scott Hall just mentioned, the weekly shows lately have been meh, what's different about now and previous times at NXT? Gargano is champ, not just Gargano the wrestler, that would be fine, but Gargano the character as well.

We've been over this so many times. Zelina/Black hasn't been acknowledged on screen yet because she is a heel valet for another wrestler and he is a face. They may acknowledge it at some point later. We don't know.

daoneandonly wrote:Killian/Cross?

Probably because Cross' character didn't really go with being happily involved in a relationship.

You see, the reason they acknowledge Gargano and his wife is because they were married before they signed with the company. It's also very in line with Johnny's character to be happily married, and his wife is also an underdog babyface character like he typically has been in WWE. Thus, it makes sense to acknowledge the relationship. Having his supportive wife by his side fit in the story they were telling as well.

But you're getting ripped over this because the assertion that she's the reason he's getting pushed is ludicrous. She doesn't even come to the damn ring with him. She's not his valet. And further, she hasn't been pushed at all in NXT, which goes directly against your absurd claim that she's the reason he is getting pushed. If that were the case, you'd think they'd be doing something with her other than absolutely nothing.

LeRae was inserted to the Ciampa/Gargano program because it would've been impossible not to. Half of that feud was on social media (where Gargano & LaRae are all over one anothers) and to put an emphasis on how personal it was between Ciampa & Gargano. Involving family has been a staple in top feuds since the beginning of wrestling.

Plus, Gargano came out on his own, his wife was in the crowd watching the match. It wasn't like they came out together. And like what was mentioned, she doesn't come out to the ring with him for his matches. It's only him.

And to say it's Gargano's fault as champ that NXT is the way it is right now is also silly. Two of their top stars moved to the main roster, another top star is currently injured. Dream is the current NA champ with his own feud going on, so no feud there. He already beat Cole, twice in the same night, so it makes zero sense to try and turn that into a longer feud. I haven't watched NXT since the recent call ups or the last takeover, so I'm not even sure who he's feeding with, but they're now in a position to push other talent to the top.

Not to mention that as soon as LaRae was introduced in the Mae Young classic, the crowd started with "Candice Wrestling" chants. It would've been impossible to not link the two since the crowd would have no matter what.

I like u guys, dont know take why u take my opinions on Gargano so personally. I dont like the character, outside of his wrestling ability, he does nothing for me. I'd rather see a Velvateen dream who wint give u as high quality of a match, but sill deliver while being a much more entertaining character and promo
