I think that Hayward being back to Full form, would make a considerable difference.
As would Terry Rozier leaving, along with anyone else who has issues with their Role.

I've never doubted that Kyrie irving will Re-sign here.
I'll be shocked, if he doesn't.

I’ll be calling for Danny’s head if Kyrie is back and it traded away within a month or two.

Max money to a guy that is an awful leader and who got out played by George Hill during an entire playoff series. George Hill, the backup PG of the Bucks.

Hope he goes to the Lakers, Knicks, Nets, anywhere but stats here.

I think the Kyrie/Horford/AD/Tatum stuff has been beaten into the ground. We all know all the angles to that at this point.

I have an interesting question though. Next summer the cap is going to be going up to 118m for the 2020-2021 season. Will Jaylen Brown be able to get the max?

Before you scoff, look at the 2020 FA list. Good chance AD re-signs with the team that gets him, Draymond with GS. Simmons/Murray/Siakam with their own teams. There is going to be a lot of that '16 and '17 cap increase $ coming off the books.

What type of offer will he be able to get in RFA? I think a team like the Hawks or Mavs or Grizzlies could just sign him to an offer sheet like that. He'll still only be 23, 2way wing that can play the 2/3 and even some 4 in small ball lineups.

He is eligible for an extension this summer but feels like unless he wants to lock it up that he would be better off waiting.

People are wishful thinking when it comes to kyrie leaving the celtics. The fans, media, teams etc. It is not happening. Keep on hating on kyrie, it is the easier thing to do, and accusing him of things he did or didn't do, so called leadership issues/comments, and so called quiting on the team. It is not going to stop the celtics from wanting him back, trying to re-sign him and offering him a max contract.

Both Kyrie and the celtics have talked and will continue to do so in the upcoming days and weeks. Celtics are the only team that can legally talk to kyrie and that is advantage. You don't let a star leave especially without getting anything in return. You don't do that. Kyrie leaving will set the celtics back for years without getting anything in return. For the celtics to have cap space, they would have to let kyrie go and trade Al Horford and Gordon Hayward. Good luck attracting good free agents after that. If kyrie left, the celtics will turn into a mediocre team. Pass on that.

A few years ago majority of the fans would have been excited for the chance to have kyrie on the team. They were excited. Now all of a sudden because of him calling some of his teammates young, and his comment in the media, so called leader issues and not being a good leader, you want him to leave. Lol. People are fickle. It shows you how quickly people can turn on you.

You can't take them seriously. They are the same people that would claim to love and support you, but have it based on conditions. You do everything they want, they say and approve of or they will stop loving you. They never cared about you in the first place because it was based on conditions.

What about Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo etc. Their comments, and actions on and off the court. People seem to think everyone is perfect and should be. No one is.

How about shooting 30% FG Pct and 25% 3PT Pct against the Bucks after totally dismissing the regular season and saying he will flip the switch in the playoffs?

That was the problem, he set himself up for failure with those playoff comments. You are who you are, doesn't matter if it's regular season or the playoffs. If he played like he did in regular season, maybe they could have won against the Bucks.

He sucked against the bucks. He was Terrible. No excuses. he couldn’t hit a shot for ****. However Is that what we do around here now? you have a terrible series and that’s it ? Grand opening grand closing? We tell you to get tf out of town? No chance to learn from it- grow as a person and as a player and come back better?

If that’s the case ok cool. Just keep that same energy when’s it’s gordon or some other player who the fans think plays with “Celtic passion” “celtic pride” or some fantasy land bs. You know the try hard workers bees who won’t ever win us ****.

Kyrie let us down against the bucks. I couldn’t believe how bad he was. I know personally I severally underrated the bucks and their defense and them overall as a team. They deserve some credit for stopping kyrie and He deserves to be killed for his play.

Why though does the story on kyrie in Boston have to be closed. You don’t like his personality or his interviews with the media - I’m with a lot of the fan base on that but not to the point where it blinds me to his unbelievable talent.

Nor does his talent blind me to his inadequate leadership skills thus far- but shockingly I feel a 27 yr old can still grow. My god when I was 27 I was a total **** and that’s without the millions of dollars and people telling me since about 16 how great I am and giving me whatever I wanted. He never had to lead before and most players aren’t natural leaders of men the first time they try. Some never are but he deserves the opportunity to right his wrongs.

This team was filled with combustible personalities and a coach who to be fair couldn’t control their egos. It was a horrible year for the organization top to bottom. Stevens has real questions about coaching superstars, Danny needs to answer why he kept the roster stagnant (though my educated guess believes he tried a consolidation trade at the deadline) and kyrie needs to become a way better leader of men.

You don’t just give up on kyrie though- like Stevens and like ainge he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Kyrie doesn't get the benefit of the doubt plus 190 million dollars, at least not from me. I can deal with the missed shots, but I will NEVER accept the loafing on defense in the playoffs. It shows a lack of character, and character is not something that is easily changed.

It’s clear you’re not a Kyrie fan. But just curious on how you’d prefer Danny to build this team going forward?

Pay Rozier?
Build around Tatum?

You’d have to take into consideration that Horford may consider opting out if Kyrie walks.

Amen!! Remember, Paul Pierce was only 27 when he got ejected from game 6 in Indiana, and people were ready to ship him off for the 3rd pick and Nick Van Exel. Thankfully, Pierce matured, and grew to become a Finals MVP. Kyrie's way too talented to write him off. The fact that some people want him to leave and fetch us nothing is completely asinine.

I'm not making any excuses for his Kyrie's defense, and he obviously needs to take some courses about leadership, but in terms of offense - do people forget how well the Bucks played Kyrie all year??

Here are Kyrie's stats against Milwaukee this season:
21.7 ppg, 39% FG, 4.3 boards, 6.3 apg

Here are Kyrie's stats against Milwaukee in the 2nd round:
20.4 ppg, 35.5% FG, 4.4 boards, 6.4 apg

Milwaukee did a great job on him. Eric Bledsoe is 1st team All-Defense. There is no huge drop off here.

Just make sure not to post on the Celtics board until that fat lard never winning a championship Paul Pierce is off this team.

If it was up to you and the last person you accused of loafing on defense we would never have won in 2008.

You have absolutely no idea of his character or any mans character based off how he or they play the game of basketball. IT was terrible on defense and no one ever questioned his character- nor did they question it when he came out multiple times talking about how he needed them to back the brinks truck up.

You have shown you can’t be objective unfortunately. I can say kyrie acts like a fool but still want to pay him because I know it’s way easier to build a contender with than without you however have a narrative you refuse to move off of even if your shown to be wrong.

Character is the wrong word. But he's an atrocious leader. And a lazy defender that cost the team points all the time, including during some of the biggest games of the year. Those are real issues.

No idea why people keep bringing up IT.

Agreed he was a terrible leader. Mentioned that several times actually in my post- my question is why can’t he become 1? And given what we know about rozier brown etc were they even willing to be led? Even by general patton ?

IT is brought up by me-bc whenever we played elite teams he got exposed **** the bed and yet he was beloved by this fanbase because he said all the right things and that love this fan base had for him would have crippled the franchise bc many would have given him the max.

It shows that you can’t take most of the posters here serious because they let their emotions determine what’s best for the teams future as oppose to being objective and saying well I’m not a fan of kyrie the person or leader but I know it’s easier to have him on the roster and then build from there perhaps even in the 1b role.

Completely hypocritical to love IT and hate kyrie based on play when there play was similar except kyrie has done it on the highest levels in the past even if it was the robin role. if it isn’t based on play then as long as the guys not in trouble with the law, sexually assaulting or abusing woman children or any other heinous disgusting crime there’s no reason not to want him back and give him a chance to become a beloved celtic.

To be clear, I didn't want any part of extending IT's contract. I was thrilled to let him go and the Kyrie trade was a great move by Ainge even if it hasn't worked out as well as hoped. And yeah, IT was an awful defender. But he put in effort on defense, which is not something Kyrie can claim. IT was just so physically incapable the results were abominable. I just think it's silly to keep bringing up IT in the context of Kyrie discussions. He left two years ago. It's over. We need to move on.

Can Kyrie become a good leader? I highly doubt it given everything we know about his time in Boston and Cleveland but it's possible. Not sure I'd wager any kind of money on that.

Look, if Kyrie's return seals us AD, then great. Let's do it. But Kyrie, when you take in everything he brings and takes away, might be a #3, rather than a #2.
