Re: Draft Thread 2: The Electric Draftaloo
It's RJ or trade for AD, at this point. Despite his flaws, RJ has too much upside and value potential to pass up on. Even if he doesn't end up being the long-term answer for the Knicks, he has the highest likelihood of being a very valuable trade chip in the coming seasons (a la KP).

He speaks french fluently, does it intrigue me that him and Frank can hit it off so they form a huge back court pairing that compliments each other skill set wise? It does.
He finishes at the rim ike Mudiay and also speaks French like Mudiay
Fiz is gonna get him right

That’s not bad but if we not getting free agents we better pick RJ. I would still pick RJ but whatever.

Be honest. Y’all love Culver because his form look like Allan Houston and Bradley Beal.

If I were a betting man, I would put money down that we draft RJ. The due diligence is great and it should happen, but I think that's all it is. The Suns worked out Ayton, Bagley, JJJ, Young, and it was still a foregone conclusion they would take Ayton.
I mean if they work out Culver or Garland and they are absolutely wowed, fine, take them, I just don't see it happening unless they have a legendary Penny Hardaway type workout.

I think it's clearly for a trade down, in case Cleveland really antes up.
I wonder what would fit the bill for Pills

Probably, but those are difficult to pull off. I think it's pretty common for teams to conduct workouts with players around their pick range even if the consensus is that one guy is the guy (RJ in this case). Who knows, stranger things have happened. We weren't really linked to Knox much at all until about a week leading up to the draft.
I wonder if the Cavs would throw in an unprotected 2020 and if we'd bite on that. Didn't exactly work out for the Hawks, but then again, nobody available at 3 this year is Luka.

Yea, I'm very open to trading down, but I'm not sure how much teams are willing to part with. The same reason we'd trade down is why teams won't open the bank to trade up.
The value of the picks are weird this year.

That game was a huge turn off for me on Culver. I’ll be pretty disappointed if the Knicks tanked all year just to end up with him

The notion that Culver is their guy above all is just silly. The Cavs are looking for relevance. They are looking for an alpha. They are looking for a top tier offensive talent. They are looking for someone they can make the face of their franchise and eject energy, explosiveness and excitement into their grossly dull roster. And someone that they can dress up as the Batman to their Robin (Colin Sexton). Other than Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY the next best thing for that organization (one that can't attract top tier free agents and who lack the assets to trade for what they need most).

Am very curious to see how desperate the Cavs will be in trying to move up from 5 to 3 in order to draft RJ.
What would you want from them (assuming they approached us)? Maybe we can charge the same cost as last year’s 5-3 swap (top 5 protected till unprotected)?
Who would we pick in this scenario, Assuming LAL takes RJ? Probably Hunter Garland.
The challenge with the Cavs is that they owe the Hawks their 2020 first rounder top 10 protected. If they are willing to convey to us that pick if it falls in the 1-10 range then I would be interested to talk a 3 and 5 swap. There should be a provision though that if this does not convey we get the better of the Cavs’ or Thunder’s first round picks in 2022.
Am highly intrigued in the top prospect guys in the 2020 draft and I think the gamble could pay off. If we end up getting the 2022 pick this should be a deep draft given that this is the year that the one-and-done rule could be lifted.
If we move down to 5 I would take a look at Garland, Hunter and Reddish.

Re: Draft Thread 2: The Electric Draftaloo
just dont look to draft a primary creator when there isnt any good ones at 3.
first look for trades and if not available look for skillsets that will become critical cog pieces on a good team. trade for future picks in the 2022 range if set on rebuilding.
