stuporman wrote:Frank is a consistent 3ball away from being the type of player like Iggy who changed the whole dynamic of a finals series and won the MVP in that series. Giving up on an elite defensive player before he is even old enough to buy alcohol is extremely short sighted and shows a lack of basketball IQ but is par for the course with fans addicted to flash over substance.

Suggesting that Mitch and Trier proves that the FO knows what it's doing after only one draft and to have complete confidence in them to do again on demand is ignoring they also chose Knox when there were options like SGA, Shamet and Huerter passed over for him. Although, I won't give up on Knox either since he, too, is so young that he is still even a teenager.

This doesn't mean these young players are flawless or untouchable but how quickly some people are to call players 'trash' or say they 'suck' without any real understanding of anything more than highlight plays is simultaneously laughable and saddening ironically. Allowing young players some time to develop and not casually tossing them away is important to team building.

That being said there are times when a player or two needs to be sacrificed to save other players or to improve the team talent, financially or open it to other opportunity. Yet, not succumbing to immature 'rage quit' mentality because it doesn't satisfy the desire for instant gratification can yield significant reward through some patience.

I agree with the overall point of your post that we need to be patient with young players, however this isn't a "fan" decision, the team wants to trade him, and if they could get more value for him than just the 26th pick I'm sure they would and I'm sure they've tried but this is what his market value is around the league. If teams believed like you do, that he's an elite defensive player with finals MVP caliber potential, the market for him would certainly be higher. These are people who actually run the organizations not fans who like flash over substance. Then again this is all based on a rumor from a random twitter post so who knows if that's really his value or not.

Defense dropped off a bit in PnR from his rookie year

https://stats.nba.com/players/ball-handler/#!?SeasonType=Regular%20Season&TypeGrouping=defensive&CF=PLAYER_NAME*E*frank&SeasonYear=2017-18

Opponents had a 50% eFG against him last year, down from 35% his rookie year. So, just really good instead of elite. If a team has a playmaker that can defend SGs, that'd be perfect for him cause his defense against PGs is incredible, but only good against SGs

The fact that he can pick up the best perimeter player and also showed some promise in switch situations with fours like Milsap and Blake is so damned underrated. He's a jumper away from being a perfect 3 and D fit with additional upside (because he's still so young). I hate the Knicks might give up on him for cap space. I get why...but I don't like it, especially when there are other ball dominant options that we wouldn't particularly need in the best case scenarios (aka the only ones that require us to trade Frank for that cap room in the first place).

You want to see some crazier stats?

https://stats.nba.com/player/201935/matchups/?Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&CF=TEAM_ABBR*E*NYK&DateFrom=01%2F01%2F2019&DateTo=03%2F06%2F2019

That's Harden's matchup stats from his 61 point game against us. Now, the individual offensive numbers for him are a good argument for Frank, 9 points on 1 of 6 shooting and 4 turnovers, but the team offensive stats for the Rockets that game are just stupid

During the 18 possessions where Frank was guarding Harden, the Rockets as a team scored 11 points. Everyone else (except Trier, who was 7 points on 7 possessions) gave up more than 1 point per possession to the Rockets when guarding Harden. If you extrapolate Frank's defense to a full game, the Rockets would've scored 61 points in 100 possessions, which is 55 less than their average for the season. Is it realistic to expect Frank to do that for 100 possessions? No. But 18 possessions is not a small sample size within a single game, and the Rockets as a team performed substantially better than their average on offense when literally anybody else (except Trier) was guarding Harden

He has legitimately elite defensive potential, and if only he had a consistent jumper he'd be so good. I'll be sad to see him go, but I do get it even if I'm not happy about it

The Knicks plan to visit in-person with Duke’s Cam Reddish ahead of the draft, per SNY sources. New York has the No. 3 overall pick and attended RJ Barrett’s Pro Day Tuesday. New York will also workout Jarrett Culver, sources say. Reddish is a projected top-10 pick.

Sources: In calls to front offices, Houston GM Daryl Morey is showing an aggressive desire to improve roster with all players and picks available in talks. Hard to imagine James Harden scenario, but the rest under contract - perhaps even Chris Paul - could be moved in right deal.

On the topic of Kevin Durant Ive heard conflicting information. One source has stated Durant wants to try to be back by game 3. The other has stated NY wants Durant to shut it down for season.

Lol it is a parody account

It's tough for me fam. If it guaranteed a title, I'd probably take it and run but this franchise has been ruled by Murphy's Law for so long that everything feels like it'll backfire and I want contingencies in place to avoid going through another five year run like we're hopefully going to come out of this offseason. There's probably no path where I don't come away horrified...unless we get AD AND keep Mitch, then I'm golden

I totally understand.

Not sure how legit these reports are tbh. But i have been hearing alot of Kyrie to Brooklyn chatter

The Brooklyn chatter
Has been persistent and not going away. I think it is legit at this point. Though we know him to really like the Knicks, he could prefer Brooklyn as he gets to come back home if he plays there too.

On the other hand with KD here's yet another NY connection :

Ric Bucher tweeted last night that Durant is selling his house in SF and looking for one in New York.

Adam Silver said something very interesting the other night, when asked about the ratings decline this season, he blamed on Lebron going West. I'm sure the NBA would love Durant in the East.

Now the question becomes who will Knicks/KD pull of as the 2nd max? If its Kawhi you can really be aggressive going after AD IMO.

Personally I think its window dressing. Too much has already happened and it seems like ADs mind is made up. Kawhi had a meeting with Spurs management right before he got traded too.
