Trade: Let's trade for Capela?

Post#1 » by MasterGMer » Thu May 30, 2019 12:43 am

Capela is on the trading block and Morey is aggressively shopping him.

What about Magic renouncing Vuc and trade for Capela?

Fournier + 2020 FRP for Capela?

Or Fournier + Mozgov + 2019 FRP for CP3?

Capela has a very team friendly contract expires after 2022-2023 season averaging 17.5 million per year.

We have to remove Fournier's contract before next trade deadline anyway so why not pairing him with a FRP for Capela?

Another advantage to this deal is we can renounce Vuc's contract and do not have to over pay him this summer. Plus Capela is a better defender

I am sure the Rockets are looking to unload Capela for a 1st round pick while taking back no contracts since they need cash to sign Free Agents to fill out their Roster. Hence, zero chance they take on Fourniers contract.

Rockets is trying to sign Kawai. Will they take Mozgov's expiring?

no thanks. Capela has zero offensive skills and paid more than he is worth

Why would we trade assets for Capela when we have Bamba and could use our MLE on Dedmon or DeAndre Jordan?

My point is simple. By signing someone, we do not have to over pay Vuc and free up Cap space for DRussell

I'd prefer to target cheaper C options if Vuc doesn't come back. Dedmon for one.

then who are we after with the cap space? Kemba? Like Steve Kyler indicated? Or DRussell, who is a very realistic option

I'm not sure who. My guess would be Brogdon, since he's known by Hammond. Russell too, although he would he a long shot since Brooklyn will likely want to retain him. It will all depend on how free agency shakes out for the big names.

I would much rather pay Vuc another $3M per season if we can get him for $20M a season than Capella at $17M.

If we're trading Fournier, we're either doing it for space to add a player this offseason, or we're moving him for another long term piece. But moving him for space won't happen until other larger FA pieces have fallen into place and a team like LA makes a move for him. By that point, we might have missed the boat on names like Russell and Brogdon.

Sorry, I'm not trying to quash your idea and then follow up with a "I don't know". I enjoy the speculation!

I have an OT question:

Can we use our MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign Rookie Free Agent? Or we have to use our Cap?

I'd rather keep Khem Birch for less money.

Houston is trying to retool and adjust roster to Harden. Not blow up whole roster.
Capela is WSC with bit better defense. Not worth money.

We don't have a chance to get D'Lo, the Nets will match any offer and he wants to stay there

Even if we don't sign Vuc and Ross, streach Mozgov, Magic will still have trouble creating slot for max that Russell will command.

As if Russell would even consider the Magic without Ross and Vooch.

Yep, that's another thing.

lol probably.

Not to mention that even after they resign Russell, they still have slot for max player.
