What exactly makes Tatum more talked about/ranked higher than Pascal Siakim?

I don't argue that Tatum has more potential to be a better scorer than Siakam but Pascal has 3 attributes that Tatum doesn't have and cannot necessarily be developed:
A better motor
Better defensive instincts
Length

The lack of motor at times and lack of defensive intensity are well known criticisms of Tatum...all of which Pascal brings in spades.

Meanwhile...a summer of tightening up the mid range and long range shooting for Pascal will make him even better.

How good is Tatum going to be offensively? Because he will never be as good defensively as Siakam is right now.

Tatum’s offensive ceiling is certainly higher than Siakam’s. But Tatum is gonna have to be putting up PG type offensive numbers to be better than Siakam.

Spicy P is already an efficient 17PPG scorer with all nba team level defense.

Pascal vs Tatum is a very legit debate. Pascal has clearly reached heights that Tatum has not, both in the RS and in the playoffs. And Tatum didnt improve over his rookie season (and if he did, it was very slight). Coming in as an already polished player, its fair to question how much better Tatum will actually get. Like I dont think its a given that he'll ever be as good as 2019 Siakim. You think it is, which is the only complete delusion here. He wouldnt be the first guy to have a promising rookie year and then stagnate.

In college sure, in the NBA? He's been an incredibly consistent defender, actually, it is easily the best part of his game.

Jayson Tatum is a good defender - not sure where this narrative is coming from other wise.
