Re: Celtics General Offseason (incl. Trade) Thread, 2019
This is where the NBA, along with all of the major sports and media in general have just became crap. Anyone can say anything and there really is no accountability. It's sad, because there are lots of people in the media out there with integrity, like Jackie. Unfortunately, those who are heard have become like our politicians. Join and be heard or don't make **** up and remain the silent majority. And social media is the biggest culprit. Everything is too fast, too soon. Funny, technology was supposed to make things better, yet things get worse. And that is referring to all walks of life.

It’s a solid core but you just lack the Alpha.
Brown can be the alpha. You see what they’ve been able to do when the offense goes through JB and JT. Kyrie was the alpha this year, and as gifted as he is, he was way worse than JB and JT were in last year’s playoffs. I would even argue that JB played better in this year’s playoffs.

Re: Celtics General Offseason (incl. Trade) Thread, 2019
Jason Kidd is a coach-killer and manipulator who slapped his wife in front of their baby.. so I feel like Kyrie will be ok if he leaves Boston.
Think it’s more likely we’re weaving a safety net if Irving leaves.. not a sign we think he’s leaving.
My recruiting pitch is that he’s a great player and that Danny Ainge is a better bet as GM to get Davis or retool the roster without him than anyone else in the league, that we have more talent than Brooklyn and New York, and also that if he signs somewhere else he’ll be forever buried in the **** I talk about him. Does that need any refinement?
It’s kind of a bummer there’s so little loyalty left in the league - we did IT for business reasons to get Kyrie, he can do us for whatever he wants. Durant bailed on OKC to join a championship roster, LA moved Blake 7 months after they signed him..
This one isn’t just about loyalty, though, the team had a bad year because the FO is in a holding pattern waiting on AD - but we’re one of the best organizations in the league, we have plenty of maneuverability, a Kyrie/KD/scrubs roster is going to be about as competitive as this year’s Lakers, with Durant starting to slow down.
Other scenario: Kyrie re-ups and says he was always staying and just wanted to have some fun with the media lol, and Danny has a third heart attack choking him out like he’s Bart Simpson

If we move on from Kyrie and in turn AD we have 2 options. Build with team as is. Or make a trade for a tier 2 or 3 player.
Option 1.
Trade or stash pick 20 or 22. Make 2 other picks and hope they hit on one. Sign Beverly or Teague/Collision to MLE.
PG Smart/MLE pickup
SG Brown/Smart
SF Tatum/draft pick/Hayward
PF Hayward/resign Morris/Horford
C Horford/Baynes/William's
Other draft pick maybe Edward's PG.
Or make a deal for Bradley Beal....team him with lifelong friend Tatum. Jaylen and Smart with #20 and future 1st.
Sign Beverly to MLE.
Draft 14/22 for depth.
C Horford
PF Hayward
SF Tatum
SG Beal
PG Beverly
Bench
Baynes
Morris
Ojeyle
Wannamaker
14 wing
22 Carson Edwards
May need another vet wing. Not the deepest bench. We could resign Rozier to help out but I don't know if I really want him anymore.
Beal can be a guy we run plays for to shoot. But Hayward, Horf and Bev are all unselfish guys. Tatum and Beal can be the scorers. Mook off bench can be a guy who can be asked to score and Edwards will be able to score day one.

Brown, Smart, and 20 for Beal....yea, ok.
The Celtics would have to come up off every pick they own to make that one happen.

The amount you overrate Beal is hysterical.
He's been the least clutch star in the league fora long time, plays zero defense and has a pretty big contract.
He's worth Brown/Smart/20 and maybe 14. Maybe.

If the Celtics could trade 1 pick for Davis, that trade would have happened already. Get real.

rumored trade is JB, Tatum, Smart and either our pick at 20, or the griz pick depending on who is talking. So yeah, 1 pick.

Beal is not tier 1 guy. Fetching a 1st, a young very good player and a solid NBA player in Smart is a good deal. Maybe add a future protected 1st and maybe 14 instead of 20 but let's not go to crazy

Beal ranked #11 in 4th quarter scoring last year (more ppg on a higher fgp% than Irving). He was head and shoulders better than anyone on the celtics in the 4th.
https://stats.nba.com/players/traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Period=4&CF=GP*G*30
He also had a higher defensive rating than anyone on the Celtics who played significant minutes.

If you think that's a legit "rumor", I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
There are 30 other teams in the NBA that could make a better offer than that.

Bradley Beal was 89th in defensive rpm among sg's this year out of 115 players
46th out of 90 players among sg's during 2017-18
36th out of 68 players among sg's during 2016-17
49th among out of 54 player among sg's during 2015-16

Building around Tatum, Brown + Danny's drafting "skills"... Irrelevance, here we come.

So you guys think building around Tatum and Brown sucks ? Have you seen these kids play by thenselves last years playoffs ? And it wasn’t just like a game here and there that they dominated.
Look, the only two players that can make us a contender is KD or AD and chances of either one of them are slim. Why not accept the outcome and be ready for that summer league. Id rather take a full season if young guys developing than the season we just had.

I'm ready to roll with JT, JB and GH as the C's top offensive options next season, filling in with defensive role-player starters, including a distributing PG. But they of course didn't make it out of a weak East last year, so dominating then (when of course they were still young and developing), isn't really quite what they did--and not to the level that actually leads a championship win.

FYI, a higher DRTG indicates a worse defensive player. DRTG is the estimated points per 100 possessions the team gave up with the player on the floor.

Beal has actually started to live up to his original hype offensively - he and Devin Booker, Zach Lavine, maybe Donovan Mitchell, Buddy Hield are the next wave of all-star shooting guards.

Wrong again. At most, there are only 28 teams who could make a better offer.
