Great band. Saw GY!BE years ago on a tour and at a private show in Northampton.

Random New England music:

Spoiler:

I used to see Peter Wolf at least once a week growing up. Usually we walked past each other in some remote part of the Charles or JFK. Dude always had leather pants on. Every time.

My parents used to watch Tracy Chapman busk in various parts of Harvard Sq. all the time before she had any type of real fame or career/before all the real musicians left Harvard sq. She used to play the clubs around the area too. Including Passim which is somehow still there (and still serving bad food).

Smoked some joints with Kim and Kelley Deal once. Prefer the Breeders but classic Boston band.

Solo song from J Mascis, the leader of Dinosaur Jr. Possibly NE's most underrated band.

I hate the Dresden Doll's music (not even really a fan of the song above) and Amanda Palmer is super, super lame irl. Used to hang out and get stoned with the two of them and Neil Gaiman a few times a year when I lived in NE. Neil always used to mercilessly flirt with the girl I was seeing at the time right in front of me. Bold guy . Brian (the drummer) is a homie and chill as **** fwiw.

Limited knowledge of the music scene there due to living on the other side of the world, but a few of my favourite artists are from the Mass/New England area.

**** yes. Yeah, Guru is probably the GOAT Boston musician in a lot of ways honestly, lol.

Worst New England bands ever: #1. Dispatch A very distant #2. Aerosmith #3. Staind

More Peter Wolf/J Geils:

Doesn't really count but Van Morrison wrote (recorded in NYC though) his best album in Cambridge/Boston:

Word, Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal.

I was never much of a fan or listened to them much at all, but Aerosmith had their moments earlier in their careers but they became pretty lame and boring in the second half. I like "Sweet Emotion" and "Love in an Elevator" amongst a few others.

I never really listened to Staind either, though I liked one of their tracks I think was called "Suffocate". They were pretty formulaic stuff that was part of that bunch of "Nu Metal" bands that came and went in the late 90's weren't they?

I was a little underwhelmed with John Wick 3 to be honest. I'm never a big fan of movies that's main purpose seems to be setting up the next movie, and that was the feeling it gave me walking out of the cinema.

Booksmart was a great film, but I didn’t find it the slightest bit funny. It was a great coming of age movie, but maybe laughed two or three times. And I mean that legitimately. I thought Long Shot was a much funnier film.

Wick was incredible.

The Perfection on Netflix is awesome for those horror lovers out there. Still have yet to hear anyone say they took my rec and saw Climax.

Congrats on the MOD role too man!

I can appreciate this take. I compare Wick to the F&F franchise. Started as a somewhat low budget action movie. Created a mega fan base. Each sequel gets more and more “Hollywood” and becomes more about the franchise than the film. Even talking Wick spinoffs now, like F&F. With that said. I **** loved it. Lol. That opening sequence. :o

A story in four acts.

They just don't make songs like they used to (nor bands like The Weakerthans) anymore.

Fun fact: roughly a quarter of my very, very large music collection is connected to the Pumpkins in some way. Outside of Billy being one of the most underrated guitarists ever and making thousands of connections through that (God knows it wasn't through his personality), James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlain all have tons of random connections as well. ****, outside of music, someone on HERE is randomly eskimo brothers with Jimmy iirc  . I don't remember who though. Maybe they could tell that story again if they see this post.

Billy dating her is literally the only reason I got into them.

****, I recently found out that James produced the first LP of one of my neighbors/close friends growing up when he made psychedllic rap albums in NYC in the early 2000s.

Pop music and otherwise: I declare all gulity pleasures dead. We shall live shameless in this forum from now on.

Unless anyone here is a real Drake fan. In which case you can shame yourself right out of the door and never return.

Go Raptors, lol. Rooting for Toronto and Kawhi all day, but every time I think I can't hate Drake more, he pulls off the impossible. Dude is beyond cringe.

Spoiler:
If I can manage to get close enough to call him a pedophile at game 5, my bizzare NBA dream season of live games will be complete pretty much. Outside of the Celtics sucking hard that is.

I had never heard the term 'eskimo brothers' before. Thanks to the Urban Dictionary, I'm a little more cultured now than I was five minutes ago. LOL

Edit: I liked the Noodles song. That band sounds like the long-lost cousins of the Smashing Pumpkins.
