Frank can play point guard with Jimmy, KD, Knox and Mitch. No doubt. Trade Smith and some picks for AD and it's a legit defensive juggernaut. That's what's most important to me. Even without AD he's already a better fit than Mudiay or Smith Jr. He'll pass and play terrific defense without fouling. He won't need too much help on that end and can switch on any position. I'd prefer tall players as role players and Frank is that. No need to go after Rubio or Rondo, they're small, not getting faster and they can't shoot. I understand what they bring and I'd like them here, but I wouldn't want to reach in order to get them.

That would be great but I was just talking about in a scenario where Durant comes and we don't get AD or get any good free agents so no Kyrie or Butler or any of those guys

Ok. It's an interesting question to think of guys to surround KD with. It must be shooting most of all. Dotson, Knox and Mitch seem like okay fits. Frank also to an extent, if there is a talented core he could be added to. If all else fails, my secondary free agent choice is still Middleton. I'd try and go after Jrue without giving up too much and try to flip the number three pick for Beal too. With such a roster you can get to the Finals right away. Anything less is a flop if you're going after Durant.

I mean that's perfectly balanced and not the longest of shots we've been talking about - even if it's four different transactions. Beal is still reasonably young enough to give up this year's pick for him. New Orleans needs to make some changes also cap wise and Middleton is a free agent after all. Might as well call him.

no he doesn’t. he’s bad on defense and can’t switch. this has been his m.o. since kentucky.

and in what world does he stretch the floor fairly well? he’s a below average 3 point shooter by every metric.

not to mention, he and mitch operate in the same exact spots. horrible spacing redundant skill sets.

I like him but given that were in an all time great position to sign or trade for multiple all time great players in their primes (literally choosing from ten top 20 players), the above outcome would be the ultimate fail to me.

Yeah he got a 3 point shot now. When he was on the Lakers he was a pretty damn versatile defender and was switching on everybody. On the Pelicans nobody played defense so I ain’t holding it against him for not being so well on defense this year. It was a sh*t show in New Orleans.

But as far as Randle goes, he is a gifted offensive player, really versatile but oh man is his defense awful. Like it's old man Lebron level, dude would just stand and watch, refused to close out on shooters, refused to even look like he was trying to do anything on defense. He was bad like really bad. I can imagine the Pels coaching staff being frustrated with him to the point that they wouldn't mind seeing him just walk away
