Pick a direction. Win now or the long term?

The KNICKS or any other franchise have to be flexible. That's just smart business.
If the Top 3 players in the NBA wanted to go to a team, what front office is gonna tell them no, they only want "the kids???"

Appeasing Booker
Also a poor way to approach roster construction.
They shouldn’t go after vet. Instead, overpay for a young guard or to move up and get Ja.

I don't think we know if it's actually a bad idea until they make the move.... Nothing wrong with trying to compete with their young pieces if they feel that they already have their foundation pieces in place (Booker and Ayton)
Conley, for example, could help unlock those guys a little more and pump their value up... Not everything has to be championship or bust. If the owner wants to compete more and is willing to foot the bill then I don't see the big deal in moving the 6 spot in this specific draft to try and better the team next year.

Great. This guy is going to summon an elder being who looks like an enormous shambling mound of intestines, to MSG, just before we win a championship.

"gut the roster for AD", they said.
like, actually disembowel all of the <= 3years-exp players at center court - plus the entire Knicks City Kids - and Kyrie will use the shamble mound to summon AD.
I actually quite like the idea. Provided we keep Mitch out of the sacrifice, of course. I'm pretty sure it works, too, under the salary cap/CBA rules.

Knicks down by 10 points with one minute to go, game 7 of Finals, and this comes up through the floor at MSG:
