You cant go out and say dont extend use the rule if you dont like to my face when I am the one pushing for wanting extensions for the longest
And I will never ever use it under these circumstances

Except I dont want any random wackadoodle take over and ruin what I have been building, you can go back to creating rules that give rookies %90 salary hike after rookie season lol leave me be
So is this how gonna be we all have to like whatever rule you put out there otherwise face being replaced? What a fascist attitude
There is a vote - state your case. Also, the actual rule is up for debate even if approved. If you have a better idea please let us know. I'm in favor of the extension rule, but I also would be fine without extensions at all because it's just a game and we'll play it with whatever comes. It'd just be nice to not have a full player auction all over again in 3 years that includes all of the big stars and all of the 2019 draftees. Would basically be a full reset to the whole game.

At first I thought salary hike would come in effect after first contract was up which would be normal extensions
Its still better than nothing but could have been much better, I said my ideas plenty of times, taking hit on your already salary is stupid just longer contract or salary hike after initial contract would be better
7 years on 18 year old player still doesnt give his prime years on you so that salary hit is unreal cost, we should be trying to make it incentive for people taking kids and developing instead of punishing with extra cost

If a player is gonna hit the market in 3 or 4 years there is no reason to draft him just pounce as a free agent
One reason to draft him is lock him up for 7 years but 6 years of it is going to be %90 of the cost with this model lol RIP

i like the rule- i just think at the very least we should have two years to evaluate and have the same extension benefits as you would if you made the decision in year one...most players need more than 1 year to prove to an organization that they are worth an extension...

You still own rights to your players so even if they do hit free agency you have an advantage of signing them for a 5th year and nobody else does, so I don't see the problem. Nobody is forcing you to give them extensions, you can just let them hit the open market, then pay the market value on them for 5 years.

You pretty much are though because what he's saying is that you still pay the same total dollars as if you had extended him earlier, but you now have to pay that total amount in a shorter period of time (backloaded) while still not being able to go over the cap to do it.

You want to keep rookies on rookie scale contracts for 10 years? That's just not happening
Like I said, pay market value and lock them up for an extra 5 years, so that's essentially the extension,
What's a proper extension? You mean like cap holds and being able to still resign rookies while being over the cap? Factoring in whether or not a player made the All NBA or All Star team and if they are eligible for bonuses? Man aint nobody got time for all that stuff

Yeah, in the Bagley example if you waited til after season 3 to extend, it was 58 for the first 3 years then 140 the next 4, which is about a 140% raiseKing of Canada wrote:bringbackhoffa wrote:2010 wrote:

Would be a 180% if we let people extend after season 4, mathematically, works out to 160 per year the last 3 years

Sorry to interrupt you guys, but I am willing to listen to offers on Jonas Valanciunas. Averaged 15 PPG 9 rebounds in the sim, 20 PPG and 10 rebounds IRL with Memphis IRL this past season. He is due for a breakout year in the sim next season.
