Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I have been ready to move on from Batum, MKG and Zeller for a while. However, we cannot trade those guys for worse contracts. Equal contracts, sure. But we have already compounded the problem with other bad contracts in the past. We cannot keep kicking the can down the road and expect to miraculously gain the flexibility we need to improve the roster. Plan A should be to move them for lesser contracts or better fitting pieces on similar contracts. Plan B should be to let them all expire. I wouldn’t trade Biz at all, that’s a $17m salary expiring for us. Unless we are getting a quality asset back, it’s not worth it.
Most realistic trade I can see regarding Batum is for Parsons. Send him to a team where cap space won’t matter for an extra year and we can cut a year off our commitment plus get someone who might actually contribute more and not make awful turnovers in crunch time. Worst case scenario is he rides the bench and we gained a year of cap space flexibility.

Would not shock me. But I think that MKG only opts out if Kemba is leaving. Not starting or playing much on a bad team would kill his long term value.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I want this team to rebuild. No one can say that MJ didn't try to compete with this group. He did and it didn't work out. It's time to rebuild and try again with a new group of players.

Trading Batum to Golden State or Indiana would be helpful to everyone.
Trading him to the Pistons works also.
They’d have to take Leuer, Galloway, and Josh Smith’s expiring deals on.

I predict our lineup next year will be:
Monk
Bacon
Batum
Miles
Frank
___________
Graham
Marv
Zeller
FA pickup (Probably Reggie Bullock or someone like that)
FA pickup (lets just put Seth Curry here)
2nd Round Pick (seen a mock draft that has Grant Williams)
Mack
That's not the WORST team in the league even though its still pretty bad. It would be better with Graham starting but fans might like seeing Monk play the Hornets out of games.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
If you want a frenchie from Euroleague, the best to get is Vincent Poirier (6.10 or 6.11 center who is pretty athletic for his size/body frame). Pretty good everywhere, a perfect role player inside in Europe (he plays in Vitoria in Spain).
Heurtel does not defend. As fun as he is in offense, he is a Teodosic light basically. And you dont need Melli when you already have Kaminsky (who could be used more often as facilitator).
Kulboka was already a mistake (no defense 4/3, basically a poor version of Teletovic if he can bulk up). I am still high on Sedekerskis but he seems to have disappeared after his complicated season in spanish 2nd vision 2 years ago. But Lit's have a tradition in developing pretty good wings.
Anyway, i am still chocked that Kemba made an all nba team. As deserving as he is, it's kinda sad for a non play off team

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Here is my vision for the offseason at each position for each player.
Point Guard
Kemba Walker- Seems like 5th year is really important to him. I would offer him somewhere between 5/180-5/200.
Tony Parker- Team option, we can’t trade him unless we pick up option. Think it makes sense to drop him.
Devontae Graham- Expect him to be the backup this season.
Shelvin Mack- Cut Bait, was awful
Joe Chealey- Cut Bait, he isn’t NBA guy
Shooting Guard
Jeremy Lamb- seems like the wing market is pretty weak this summer. Expect him to get around 15 million per year. We just can’t swing it, proud of how much better he got each year and wish him the best.
Malik Monk- Need him to step up into 6th man role, give him freedom and confidence. Him giving us 16 a night off bench would be huge.
Also, am willing to include him in the right deal if it gets us an upgrade.
Dwayne Bacon- Right now, after the way the season ended. I would let Bacon start at the 2. He is solid 2 way guy who I think can fill Lamb shoes decently.
JP Macura- Cut Bait, would rather give this roster spot to a specialist.
Small Forward
Nicolas Batum- Nobody wants him here, first option would be trading him.
If not, I would use him off bench as a facilitator. Help make Graham and Monk job easier.
Miles Bridges- As of right now, he is my starting SF. The starting lineup needs him athleticism and energy, think he can play 4 at times as well, but I would rather him learn the 3 first.
Power Forward
Marvin Williams- He still hasn’t opted in, I would love if he restructured and maybe did a 3/24 or something, but unlikely.
Right now he is the starting 4, need his floor spacing.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist- still hasn’t opted in, expect him to. Would be a miracle if he opts out. Borrego hasn’t played him much. Career lows in mins, Pts, rebounds last year.
Center
Cody Zeller- Defacto starting center. I’m sure we will look to gauge interest on him, but he makes too much for a team to want him as a backup. Most likely only tanking teams would be interested.
Bismack Biyombo- Probably need to either trade him or stretch him to stay under the luxury tax.
Only worth keeping if we trade Cody and need a defacto starting center.
Willy Hernangomez- I would pick up his option just because it’s so small. He may have small trade value after posting a high PER.
Frank Kaminsky- We need to sign him to QO. He is perfect backup center for us. Can carry the bench at times.
Draft picks
12, 36, 52 - need backcourt depth, pf is a need as well. Cheap center prospect.
Assuming no trades are made, our rotation should look something like this.
PG- Kemba (38)- Graham (10)
SG- Bacon (20)- Monk (28)
SF- Bridges (18)- Batum (20)- Bacon (10)- MKG (0)
PF- Marvin (30) - Bridges (18)- MKG (0)
Center- Cody (26)- Kaminsky (22)- Willy (0)
Biyombo stretched to stay under Tax.

Second unit of Graham-Monk-Batum- x- Kaminsky
could be decent offensively, Batum as a secondary playmaker on that until could provide okay value.

I'm on board with a lot of the rest of your post too ... but this in particular I liked.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'd like to keep Frank but I could see him going back to Wisconsin. Apparently there's word out that the Bucks were trying to trade for him at the deadline before they made the trade for Mirotic and that they might go after him if they lose Brook Lopez.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I can't believe I am saying this still, but I hope we re-sign Frank. What a turnaround from the trade deadline on for him.
Lamb is a goner though. We cannot afford him and shouldn't pay him what he'll get anyway. He has improved a lot throughout his career and hit big shots for us, but I don't see him improving much more if at all. Time for Monk or Bacon to step up.
As for MKG - I honestly wouldn't be THAT surprised if he opted out. I know he's due a guaranteed $13m, but if he didn't play last season and is unhappy with his role, you're telling me he couldn't get a 3-4 year deal that gives him more financial stability and a role? I think it's more like 50/50 between him opting out and in.
Marvin is definitely opting in. No more long term deals for him, he's at the end and he knows it. He'll ride out his last year here and then probably do a short term deal for much less after that either with us or somewhere else.
