arod

Post#1 » by celtsloyalty » Fri Aug 17, 2007 1:27 pm

If Arod becomes a free agent do you think the Red Sox should pursue him?
A few pros and cons...
Pros.. Best hitter in baseball, Great fieler, Could end up breaking the homerun record in a redsox uniform.
Cons.. This year is the first year he is living up to his potential and it happens to probably be the last year with the yankees, couldn't handle the pressure?, Boston fans will tear him apart if he does bad, He will cost a lot of money

I don't want a 25 million dollar player on the team. I don't want the Arod drama in Boston. I like dirt dogs and him and JD drew aren't one. I don't like the guy.

yeah I'd much rather have someone who can't play against lefties and bats .268/.373/.394 because he gets his jersey dirty..............................................
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."

First year he's lived up to his potential? LOL.

But yes, go after him hard. He's the best player in baseball.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with A-Rod. Like BG says, he's the best player in the game. It will sure be weird to see him wear a Red Sox hat. But Fenway Park is ideal since he is right handed. He would tear up the Monster.

I really don't think Boston is an ideal environment to play if you aren't living up to your contract and I don't see how A-Rod could humanly live up to a $30 million contract. And this extended Manny drama has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding overpaying guys like that so I'd rather just resign Lowell to two years, let the farm develop some guys, and have a great competitive team for a lot cheaper and a lot less headaches. mahalo

That MVP award was meaningless. He was a choker and definitely not a dirt dog. He's no good in my book.

Ted Williams wasn't a dirt dog.

Manny is far from a dirt dog.

But you're right...I'd much rather have Trot Nixon..............................................................................................................

How many rings does A-Rod have again? Have many rings did Ted Williams have? Have many do they have combined? Zero.

Manny has 1, but that is only because Trot Nixon's dirt dog and never give up mentality carried the Red Sox past the Yankees despite being down 3 games to 0. The rest is history, but you need to always remember that dirt dogs rock and they win.

I'm speechless....

I would never ever EVER say the comeback in '04 was because of Trot Nixon....

Yeah well trot was willing to sign here for a million last year so for the price of one arod we could've had 30 trot nixons. Anyway Just because I said dirt dogs doesn't mean trot nixon is the only one out there... For 30 million dollars I would rather just resign Mike Lowell for 2-3 years, and sign someone like corey patterson for a couple million to strengthen our bench and either resign schilling or replace him. Also we have Bucholz and ellsbury who might be in the big leagues next year. The only way I could see it happening is if Manny ends up getting traded before next season, then the debate would be should we sign arod, andruw jones, or torri hunter.
The details of who else will be available are going to dramatically change between now and when the time comes to make the decision anyway. Either way I would rather decide between a combination of the crop of players available then choose only arod and bring all of his dramatics to the red sox. Especially the label of having the highest payed player in baseball on the team.

Ya and David Ortiz came in second in that race for 1/3rd of the price of Rodriguez. I would rather not turn into the Yankees and sign a cheaper, fan favorite in Mike Lowell and then have over 20 million more to spend on other pieces.

Return to Boston Red Sox
