Without looking at salaries it looks even on paper. Prince better all around but Crabbe a dead eye and an x Bear! Gotta love that!
Salary people? Is this good?

Re: Crabbe Cake!
2 more years at 20 million $, we take his contract, they save money, make room for Levert and replace Crabbe with a better player on a good contract. That is why we receive 2 first round picks

Crabbe another year at 18.5 then expiring. Nice! Things are all coming together for a 2020 frenzy!

This should really solidify the belief that we are still in asset acquisition mode. We are in no shape to be in win now mode. We won 29 games and our core is a bunch of 20 and 21 year olds who can't defend worth a damn in their current development stage.
Let all of the other franchises throw max money at all of the B-Tier free agents while we continue to build for the future and wait for the east to become weaker and the warriors dynasty to end.

Love this! Prince sucks and suffered from the disease of thinking he is much better than he is. Getting 2 FRPs for him is beautiful.
Now the question is, will the Hawks use all those FRPs this year or will they try and consolidate them to either move up or acquire future assets?

Crabbe has one more year at $18.5. This trade is basically straight up protected first to get the contract off Brooklyn’s books to sign Kyrie and then this year’s first to get a rookie scale Prince contract from us with a future second to offset. Won’t affect next year’s cap room for FA signing for us.

Re: Crabbe Cake!
What's that, a shade over $50.2 million in expirings for Baze+Plumlord+AC alone? (Don't nobody lay a hand on My Main Man, Alex Len with his $4.2!)
In a really bad way... that's really freaking good!

Are we trying to take over the world lw3? Is Schlenk that much of a mad scientist. I’ve never ever ....ever ..been as upbeat about the Hawks future and I am now.
So Ainge and Hinke were playing checkers and Schlenk playing chess!

A+/A deal for us imho.

Re: Crabbe Cake!
Here is what makes this deal a no brainer. Crabbe makes $16 million more than Prince. The Hawks were set to be over 20 million under the minimum threshold. So they would have had to pay that money anyway in a tax. None of the extra money they paid for Crabbe this year is actually real money. It just pulls us closer to the minimum (which gets spent regardless). So in reality, its like 2 even salary players and we get 2 picks. I smell a package of 8+17 to move up.

Their career shooting percentages are almost identical. I guess Schlenk just wants to pay seven times as much for a lesser player, to get two mediocre at best draft picks. #17 this year in a bad draft, and a top 14 protected draft pick next year. Just when it seems we might be ready to make a move forward, we go and make a bizarre trade.

Man... Some of you just have to complain huh? How is this not a good deal? Have you guys watched prince play? Did any of you really think KD or kawhi was coming? 2 first rounders for taking on an expiring? And gives us a ridiculous amount of cap space next year? What else, realistically, did you want to see happen this off season? I'm not trying to be a dick.. But seriously what did you want to see happen?

Explain to me what makes this a good trade. What is the point of it? I am being serious. To me it makes no sense at all. I hope to God we don't unload Collins and Trae for mediocre draft pick and a ridiculous overpaid contract. We will always be in the no mans land everyone complained about at best. No loyalty really ticks me off.

If a guy doesn't fit what you do, why invest more money and years into him. If they don't intend to offer him an extention, move on and get an asset for him. As @Jamaaliver says - get an assest vs letting them walk for free.
Just like we took Jamaal Crawford's contract and waived him for a 1st that netted us Spellman last year.
Just like we took Melo's deal and waived him for a 1st in 2021.
That's how you rebuild your team.
We are gathering foundation and cornerstone pieces.

I don’t know much about Crabbbbbbbbe but his efg and box/WS stats suggest to me he’s better than Taurean. I did a 30-second long fist pump when I heard the news. I don’t care where the first round picks are, Schlenk has shown he can find players better than Taurean. I’m still tripping off #BudCox taking him 12th.
