SAS once again playing the race card. It won't be the black guys fault if one of KD, Kawhi, Kyrie don't come to the Knicks. I'd bet you he hasn't talked to anyone saying that they've heard free agents don't wanna come to the Knicks because of Dolan and he's just making shyt up per usual. SAS has changed what he's heard more than any other media person that covers the Knicks so far.

He's a complete clown.

Agreed, a clown sure he is. I doubt Dolan's money is any less green than Brooklyn's owners. It's where these FAs seem themselves establishing their legacy, furthering their brand, winning a title, playing with friends, etc... I'd say team ownership is pretty far down the list.

I agree with SAS to a degree. He makes a good point that now would seemingly be a good time to join the Knicks w/ competent FO and cap space.

If they dont land a star FA, what would the reason be? Because obviously this wouldn't be the 1st time that major FA's have passed on joining the Knicks and there has to be a reason....Dolan would be the constant in the equation and we all know his name has been in the news too many times for the wrong reasons

When the Knicks have had cap space, they’ve signed more than their fair share of free agents. Stephen A. is a buffoon

There are many other variables that factor into FAs decisions than just cap space and a competent FO.

LOL @ turning on Stephen A because he wants Dolan to sell.

Stephen A is a loudmouth clown but he’s not wrong here.

Kemba is from the Bronx. Grew up a Knick fan. But tbh, this isn’t surprising. I think him going to a team like the Hornets helped his career. He doesn’t need nor crave that type of extra attention.

Ppl were against signing Kemba since 2017

I still remember saying he could be a target in 2019 in the THJ signing thread and the unanimous response was, well, not positive

I would have to say it still wouldn't be positive if it was about signing just Kemba but right now the idea is to add Kemba along with KD or Kawhi or AD when back then it was just about signing Kemba. Big difference. If we get one of KD or Kawhi in free agency then i';d happily take Kemba to go with him but Kemba alone....no thank you.

It was about adding Kemba to a core with KP Frank WHG and a top pick from 2018 draft (goal was Doncic)

If we miss on everyone else and Kemba says he wants to come, I think the FO does it

sure they signed FA's, but I'm talking about star FA's and they only got 1: Amare, who most teams were leery of giving all the GTD money too (b/c of his injury history)

Just because SAS is a buffoon, doesn't mean he's 100% wrong on everything. It is true that Dolan has not had, to put it kindly, a positive influence on the team and while I praise him for staying out of basketball ops, he's done some things that cast negativity around the organization: Oak situation and banning a fan for saying "sell the team" (just to name recent examples; there was obviously the IT situation as well)

I think if the Knicks really want to they could outbid everyone that is on ADs long term sign list. KD seems pretty set on coming here. Possibly the only way he wouldn't is if we don't sign a 2nd star to pair with him. With Barrett, Mitch+ Trier (both guys praised by Griffen when he was doing color commentary) and the Dallas unprotected pick those are 3-4 premium assets highlighted by Barrett. You add a couple more FRPs and that offer would likely be better than almost anything a team that AD has mentioned signing long term with. Will they need to go that far? Probably not but if it means either both AD and KD or neither, I would.

We need to do what the hawks just did and take on some bad contracts for teams who need cap space and in return get more draft picks

IMO its best for the young guys to not have to shoulder the load entirely on their own. I would sign solid 2nd/3rd tier FA's to bloated 1 year deals to take some of the pressure off the young players as well as keep the team competitive. Plus, the new lottery odds have proven, you dont need to be the worst anymore.

With about 70M in cap space, I would personally give big 1 year deals to guys like Terrence Ross, Rondo (mentor DSJ) and maybe Marcus Morris (or Mirotic, Young, Ariza)

How much can you blame on Dolan because he has been hands off since Phil Jax took over.

Nah, not the route I would go. I would give those type of guys reasonable contracts to trade them near deadline for more assets.
