Tell me the assets we have.
#3 pick
Mitchell Robinson (who nobody wants to trade)
Dallas picksUhhhhhhhhh
Knox? Meh
Dotson? Ok
Frank? Haha
DSJ? Another meh
Trier? Ok
I mean the roster is what it is. Unless those dudes show up next season and up their value I’d venture to guess that
Levert, Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen and then are the better value outside of the picks.
You asked what assets we have.
First 3 you list off the bat are top notch.
Then you list 3 Nets players as if they’re all stars.
3rd pick >>>>> LeVert (if we assuming this is RJ, RJ has a higher ceiling than LeVert & if it’s for trade bait, RJ has a relationship with Zion unlike LeVert)
Mitch - Allen (I personally side with Mitch but it’s a debate)
Mav picks > Dinwiddie (potential over an overachiever)
Then you said meh & ok to everything else but don’t meh & ok everything else the Nets have?
Interesting.
Frank is controversial, so I won't bother, but DSJr and Trier are legit players.
I get Trier is like a 30 year old rookie or whatever, but the guy came into the league READY to attack the rim, with success, an array of moves etc. And he has a decent 3 point shot, and a good mid range shot, which he can get off in multiple ways.
Neither Trier or DSJr are "garbage" or "not assets". They might not form the nucleus of a deal, but a lot of teams would be more than willing to have them as part of a package deal.
I mean, it's a partial indictment on the roster, I get that, but Trier came in and right from the jump, was the most effective guard at getting to the rim and scoring. Well, maybe Cpt Overpaid, THJr, with 4+ years NBA experience, was MAYBE a tick better. And not the Falling Beetleman either.
This isn't Lavar Postell or Landry Fields territy. Trier and DSJr, are, at LEAST, rotational players on any NBA team. Period. At least. Going into their 2nd and 3rd NBA seasons, respectively, and DSJr is younger to boot, but with the extra two years. So the book on what they'll become isn't closed.
Knick fans have turned a corner from overrating youth to underrating them. Sometimes by more than a little.
