He was. He guarantees a championship. The warriors just ran into a good (not great) team that has the best 2-way player in the league. Kawhi is SO underrated.

No KD means they would have had a ton of money to upgrade the bench.
They are not good, they are great.

I guess I was misunderstood. Without Kawhi, they’re not in the ‘great’ category IMO. They’re REALLY good without him but they’re not a championship caliber team without Kawhi.

That I agree.

That's why you hold on to assets until a Kawhli in SA situation happens so you are there to strike.

Could you imagine if they won game 2 and sweeped the series last night?

Just noticed that George Hill's 19m this year isn't fully guaranteed. If he's waived by July 2nd they only have to pay him 1m.

I don't see a team with Kawhi Leonard on it blowing a 3-1 series lead. They win on the road along with at home. Everyone on the team plays good or great defense. I don't see this team blowing a 3-1 series lead. This team is much better than the OKC team that blew a 3-1 series lead.

Reading through the Lakers board and it sounds like they really want Vuc if the big names don't sign there.

Do you think Vuc would want to play for a coach that benched him to play Biz.

I think the way the Magic used Vuc this season really got the most out of him, but there are a handful of other situations where I think Vuc could look really special. San Antonio - Pop would make Vuc look like Duncan 2.0. Or if Vuc could play next to one of; Kawhi, Giannis, Durant, Harden or... LeBron. Yeah, I'm really interested in seeing what LeBron could do with a floor spacing front court like Kuz and Vuc, not to mention Vuc's propensity for hitting cutters - which Bron is always good for.

Vogel will be a patsy, that much should be clear. Players are going to play for LeBron.

That’s a good point...Cliff put him in a perfect position, Vogel completely minimized his talents. Regardless of what’s pitched, he’ll have to consider that. I think it’s Dallas for more $$$...if not Orl on a modest deal.

Time heals wounds, I think he'd listen and it would depend on how Vogel approaches the conversation. And how much money they're sending his way. He did go to USC so there may be some desire to be back in that area

Also, it's valid to point that Raptors were 2-0 against GSW during the regular season, so it could be 6-0 now if not that really bad 3rd quarter in the 2nd game (20-0 run) and still lose that game by 5 points.

Let's assume that KD leaves GSW and Klay is re-signed, do you think they re-sign Cousins too?

There is a nice ESPN editorial that if a team gets to a 5% chance to win a title: go all in to increase odds.
(I respect Philly's moves this year for reflection).

If Toronto wins a banner and Leonard leaves anyway, it was all clearly worth it for Toronto. Winning is winning after all.

ofc if they win, and he leaves, it was worth it. They will go down in history as first not Lebron lead team to beat Warriors since 2014 Clippers.

Yeah I think they'll be remembered for something way more memorable than that random stat.

First Toronto Raptors title, guy can resign , play 3,4 more years there and flat out retire and will forever be written in Canda's books as first finals MVP that brought basketball championship to Canada.

Apparently David Griffin (Pelicans GM) is looking for an all star, a young player with all star potential and two 1st round picks for AD.

I like the approach he is taking by putting it out there when there are multiple teams bidding. I also like the approach of trying to field a winning team now while developing instead of asking for only young players and picks. Zion will be getting max playing time anyway, Might as well give him a chance to play meaningful games early.

Plus with Jrue and Zion they are not that far away from a playoff roster imo, adding an all star and a budding all star would put them in as early as next year.

Say the Celtics offer Tatum, Horford and two first rounders and they pick a guard in the first (Herro?)

Jrue
Herro
Tatum
Zion
Horford

Just fill in the bench with short term free Agency deals and a couple draft picks and they’d look good now and in the future !
