Griffin got the price high just in case. You always aim high. He will come down when no one offers all that.

... P.S.

I'm betting that he wants RJ and Zion. And here's the deal:

If he DOES NOT want RJ and Zion on matching deals then great. He won't bite probably, maybe even with Mitch. If he DOES want him, then Mitch will not be a deal-breaker if you do some substitute value.

Keep your role players Knicks. Mitch isn't the key thing ... it's whether he loves RJ or thinks he sucks. And there's not much in between.

I don't know the salaries ... maybe DS has to be in there. And then fine. So trade him and then protect the extra pick.

With this report today, that makes a ton of sense. I think a Capela/Zion frontcourt would be meh but the Pellies would have some monster defensive lineups especially if they get Jaylen Brown with Capela... and the Pels won't have to worry about Capela against small ball lineups because they can just shift ZIon to the 5 in that scenario.

I'm guessing Boston is doing everything they can to not include Tatum in the deal. I think the question is how long do they resist and do they ever give in and put him in...

drekwins wrote:Start creating realistic Beal trade offers. I wonder what it would take to get him. There's no doubt that we have the assets. His contract is pretty friendly in today's NBA and he's a very good player. Perhaps, we attempt to get Beal to pair with KD and potentially Kyrie. Beal's contract is good enough where the Knicks would retain max cap room even if they acquired him before the draft.

so is AD's
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

Boston just went through getting a superstar who didn't work out. So why are they going all in on getting AD? Doesn't make sense. Not learning the lesson. And their offer is not that hard to beat if they don't include Tatum.

How is Capela and Brown a compelling offer for Pelicans? And some middling picks? That offer is not very hard to beat.

This is BFS again.

capela doesn't fit anything the pelicans have said they want. i think he's a horford replacement. horford is older and can either opt out this year, doubtful, or be out next year. maybe horford goes to houston and they get out of the capela contract and get a more versatile piece for next year. capela is younger and can grow with the young rebuilding celtics. he also costs half as much as horford.

Cris Carter said Knicks aren’t super interested in Kyrie. Not their top option. KD + Kawhi is.
If we miss on Kawhi, we may still end up with KD+Kyrie.
I think Nets are Kyrie’s plan B. Kyrie & someone like Butler or Harris.

Yeah I'm not fully buying all what he was saying. He's made it sound as if something changed with Durant. He's blaming Dolan.
He has made the Nets out to be a good option due to the owners between the Knicks/Nets. Said the Knicks don't have anything to present Durant with other than the president is black, coach and GM.

IF something has changed with Durant, I mentioned this last week, it could be that Kyrie changing his mind (or KD finding out the Knicks are iffy about Kyrie).
Durant has to recruit another star (I don't think he comes alone). Maybe he's not sure who to get, if he doesn't want to play with Kawhi or Kawhi not coming?

I spoke to my insider just about a hour ago. Those who know me on other boards know I am connected mainly due to my connects. I can say that I got a strong message that the Knicks are extremely likely land AD in a multi-team trade. Congrats! As a Bron fan, this sucks but the cards fell in place for the Knicks.

I actually think they have some leverage here, or at least as much as a team can with a guy who's going to be a FA. The Lakers are desperate to get AD, we saw that this season. They are probably going to bring the same offer as last time but now they can include the 4 pick. From all accounts, Ainge doesn't give a fu*k and will go for AD regardless of Kyrie being there. We are obviously contenders for AD. Also, given the PG/Kawhi stuff, teams might take the risk of trading for AD and trying to get him to re-sign.

Lastly, I think getting AD vastly increases the chances that we get FAs. I don't see trading away the assets we have as gutting the team. It's hard to "gut" a 17 win team. Losing RJ and Mitch would hurt, but that's about it, at least for me. Can't let those guys stop you from getting AD in his prime.

You're also adding picks to the deal. If no one comes...you have AD and nothing else. Then what? Rebuild around him with fewer draft picks and an empty roster? I do think players would definitely consider coming here to play with AD but...I just don't see the risk being a Perry move. We will find out soon enough I suppose.

FTR...I'm not saying I think it's a terrible move to trade for AD...I'm just not on team trade the kids. I do think it's a bad/risky move to trade for him by the draft though. I just don't see Perry doing it.

I would do it simply because it's AD in his prime, and we would be giving up 30 cents on the dollar for him. Let's say guys don't come, worst case scenario I guess, then you have AD, loads of cap space, and all of our picks going forward (assuming we would only deal RJ and the Dallas picks). That's a pretty damn good foundation to build a contender quickly. I am operating under the assumption that if we did get AD before FA, we would 100% get players. I think ultimately another team deals for AD, but I'd pretty much give anything away to get him. This wouldn't be the Melo trade all over again.

Fair enough. He's only 26. Does he sign up for being a part of a full blown rebuild around him in NY? I assume he wants to win. He's been in quicksand in NO. He would be all alone in NY. Now...you're betting that other max players will come to that? I'm not so sure. I would be shocked if Perry would take that risk. Does Durant want a big 3? He's 31. That window of AD in his prime just shrunk with KD...even with Kyrie in board. Kawhi? Hmmmm. Him and AD would be a nice pair. Does Kawhi want to rebuild with AD in NY?

I don't see it.
