Naw. They almost certainly missed a strain or minor tear IMO.

I don't think they missed anything. He had an icepack on his Achilles last week. This just seems like a classic case of devaluing a player's future over team success. Hopefully that decision was mostly made by KD and not heavily coerced.
Yea. That was HIGHLY suspicious.

He shouldn’t have played. As a fan and person, I’m completely deflated that Durant has to go through this. Should have never been cleared and I’ll feel sick if he was pressured to play.

Anyone know if it’s possible he has an achilles strain/partial tear rather than full tear or rupture?

No one forced KD to play. Let’s put this nonsense to rest. The only person that makes that call is KD at the end of the day.

I’m not saying Bob Meyers tied KDs shoelaces but it’s pretty clear that there was “pressure” for him to play. Durant relies on Meyers and the medical staff - it’s called trust. They betrayed that trust by allowing him to go out there knowing his Achilles was weak

Well Perk tweeted he had talked to KD about pressure to play and said he should not play even if he is feeling pressured so it does sound like KD was being pressured even if his end decision was up to him.

I think KD may opt in now. Seems like the smart move.

The smart move is the longest and most money contract he can get on a team he likes. Opting in only guarantees him one year that he may spend rehabbing and then he’ll end up like Cousins trying to prove himself in a hurry and possibly failing.

Just horrible. No matter how you feel about Durant or the Warriors you have to admire and feel bad for KD. Really moving watching Bob Myers call him the most misunderstood player. Bob was really torn up.

Basketball gods and the Nets save Steve Mills from himself. Thank christ the Knicks aren't signing these two walking injury risks.

I guarantee KD wanted to play

But that's when the medical team and other personnel should be there to look out for players. Every player want to play in the FInals. Sometimes, they just can't, and shouldn't. There is noway you can tell me this injury (most likely torn achilles) is not due to the injury he has been nursing. This is just a very very bad look at the GS organization imo.

He's a grown man, one of the top 3 players in the league in his prime, and his team is on the brink of getting eliminated from the finals. If he had his mind set on playing there's nobody who could have stopped him. I'm sure they informed him of the risk and he accepted it, just as any great competitor would. And I think it paid off for him. Nobody is ever going to forget what he did. He'll always be remembered as a hero for the Warriors. What he did might end up inspiring his team to win the championship. And no matter how bad the injury is the Warriors are still going to offer him a max contract.

It’s kinda **** up if the warriors now don’t offer him the max.

If not, he becomes the 2nd cautionary tale of playing while hurt in a contract season (IT being the first)

At least he has a $31 million opt in to fall back on.

You realize torn Achilles is the worst prognosis in the NBA pretty much right? FAR worse than a compound break or ACL.

Does Bob Myers not know this before tonight?

they wouldn't have trotted him out there if it was a partial achilles tear.
