How long is the recovery time for an Achilles rupture? How long was Kobe put for?

Depends. About 6 to 9 months depending style of play. But he might be done being an all star.
Guys like Kobe and Nique, though probably more reliant on physical abilities than KD, dedicated more time to their bodies. KD will have a lot of work to do in terms of building stability in his whole body.

Man **** gsw for letting him play. What a putrid organization.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Unbelievable, I'm disgusted with GS medical staff and management! They were shady af when it came to kd's injury and now look. A champion shouldn't need to use such tactics. They just ruined a career and this could cost Durant millions. SMFH

Very possible for a partial tear or strain but a full tear is a year. See Cousins.

Cousins was about a year, but Kobe was like 8 months

Can KD be in the middle of that? Maybe be back by playoffs?

exactly KD decided to play...he could've took the Kawhi road but didn't.

F off kid. Myers is literally one of the most liked, trusted and respected dudes in ALL of the NBA. to suggest he even had a semblance of knowledge about this beforehand u better have some legit sources behind that.

If KD was really healthy and this achilles injury just happened randomly and was totally unrelated to what he had, then I apologize. I hope the truth, whatever it is, come out.

KD was dancing, dunking, and moving well with no issues before the game, went through full contact practice without issues, got the okay from his side and the medical staff.

not like they trotted him out in a RS game...this was the closeout game in the NBA finals, and I guarantee you Durant wanted to be out there more than anyone else wanted him out there.

You can see what looks like his achilles pop in this close-up slo-mo video. The calf muscle jiggles up like the achilles has been snipped. It's bad.

It’s crazy how so many people think that you can just come up with answers for every injury. No one in GSW knew the extent of it, including KD himself. The human body is a mystery.

Nah, lets be honest, KD is still getting the max from some team if he wants the money.

I had the same thought as you. Something is going to come out.

No it was a calf strain, most likely grade 3
They rushed him or he rushed himself)( we don't know the full story).
At that point, parts of you body has to compensate for the other part and this is the likely outcome. It was between this and a glute strain... Sadly he got the worst end of the stick

Or option 3: They didn’t rush him and he didn’t rush himself.

You realize torn Achilles is the worst prognosis in the NBA pretty much right? FAR worse than a compound break or ACL.

Is the achilles still a death sentence? Wes Matthews came back the next season and started 78 games, granted he wasn't very good but he was never an all-star. Is it too much to expect KD to come back by December and be a borderline all-star player? He obviously will be robbed of top 5 talent, but I think post injury KD would be pretty good still.

Ugh, and Raptors fans were cheering

It's true, it was disgusting. I bet they only clapped towards the end because Lowry and Ibaka told them to shut up.

If you want a more unadulterated response check out how the fans reacted at Jurassic Park.

Wow. Just ... wow.

many classless fans cheered for the injury but a majority of the arena cheered b/c it was a live ball turnover and we were driving to score.

Sometimes you gotta protect a player from themselves. At the very least he should've been limited to 24 mins. 6min on 6min off and so on.

Nope. I doubt it. Guys in their 30s lose a lot after an achilles injury. If you are the Knicks and want to take that risk...you might not get what you are paying for even after waiting an entire year for him to come back.

Dumbest and most heartless medical staff in the NBA. Hopefully KD can sue and win, those doctors were clueless.

Kobe came back as a shell of his former-self after his Achilles rupture. I’m hoping Durant can come back from this.

One thing durant has going for him is that he's 30 years old, Kobe was 33 with way more minutes played. The younger you are, the better you heal. Kobe also had like a million minutes played and his body overall was starting to fail him, not just his achilles.

Everyone knew the risk of Durant possibly getting injured again.

Kawhi’s injury wasn’t even that serious. He just used that injury as an excuse to get out of San Antonio.

The spurs are the best ran organization in the nba and they also take care of their players. If this was any other team like the Knicks, I would’ve believed him.

None of them would give him a max now, that would be idiotic before diagnosis. Achilles is bad.

Bolded is so true. Of course these players are gonna want to go out and compete, but the medical staff has gotta think long-term.

The GSW front office is responsible for this, when they wouldnt tell us what exactly his injury was and a SPECIFIC time frame. He did this as gamesmanship so the other opponent wouldnt know if Durant is playing but this backfired. Because this put pressure on Durant to come back because the fans wanted him to, the players wanted him too, and the media wanted him too because no one knew exactly what was wrong with him and why he was out this long. As a result, he came back not ready and tore something up. So sad. Myers should be fired for this.

LOL, obviously coming from a Knick fan who was ready for KD to join. Not all front offices are as incompetent as yours, so no need to project. Fake tears...*******

feel free to address the points raised...

Your points are based on nothing but speculation. The original injury was calf related and there were multiple MRI taken by multiple doctors. Given Durant's status, I'm sure he has his own doctors who were telling him the same thing. He's not a 10 year old to be peer pressured into playing. Stop with this nonsense.
