You realize torn Achilles is the worst prognosis in the NBA pretty much right? FAR worse than a compound break or ACL.

Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using RealGM mobile app

Is the achilles still a death sentence? Wes Matthews came back the next season and started 78 games, granted he wasn't very good but he was never an all-star. Is it too much to expect KD to come back by December and be a borderline all-star player? He obviously will be robbed of top 5 talent, but I think post injury KD would be pretty good still.

It ruined Elton Brand. Can you say that Rudy Gay has ever returned to the 20-something ppg scorer he was before the injury?

Well hey, man is right, but why anyone got to "cut a check" WTF?

Take responsibility for your damn selves, and that includes Durant and the people denigrating Durant.

exactly KD decided to play...he could've took the Kawhi road but didn't.

Kawhi decided not to come back for game 5 of the Finals? I missed that part...

Kawhi and Durant weren't on the same road to begin with.

GS knew Durant would take the bait. I mean look at KD he can get baited to respond to twitter trolls. They kept planting seeds that he would come back, questionable, and add the media talking about how KD needs to come back or else GS has no chance. KD took the bait like he can't resist responding on social media.

If GS such a good organization, they should have shut Durant down immediately and say his season was done as he was not 100% to play. Period.

This is terrible, and this is all on the negligence of the Warriors medical and coaching staff. You probably just cut down a HOFer at the peak of his prime, he may not ever be able to perform on the same level again. This is probably the worst display of sheer negligence by a front office I've seen in a long time.

Kobe came back as a shell of his former-self after his Achilles rupture. I’m hoping Durant can come back from this.

One thing durant has going for him is that he's 30 years old, Kobe was 33 with way more minutes played. The younger you are, the better you heal. Kobe also had like a million minutes played and his body overall was starting to fail him, not just his achilles.

Everyone knew the risk of Durant possibly getting injured again.

Kawhi’s injury wasn’t even that serious. He just used that injury as an excuse to get out of San Antonio.

The spurs are the best ran organization in the nba and they also take care of their players. If this was any other team like the Knicks, I would’ve believed him.

Not necessarily. If KD comes back tonight at risk of injury but just gets lucky and doesn't re aggravate it, everyone will talk about what a great story it was and how it helped warriors get the W, even if it was just as poor of a decision.

what is wrong with that organization? why in the world would they put myers out there to discuss stuff when emotions are running so high? unless they wanted sympathy. take a breather - give an update via a release and then have the presser tomorrow morning. having it right now is just so dumb.

I had the same thought as you. Something is going to come out.

Have you guys not been reading the posts here? (And I’m sure similar posts are on other sites). People are blaming the warriors organization....so he’s saying if you want to blame someone (even though you shouldn’t), he’d rather you blame him than the doctors or the coach or other players because he’s in charge. There’s no conspiracy. Wtf

I found the press conference a little strange as well. Why did Meyers even speak like that instead of Kerr? Why even bring up the blaming stuff? It could just be he wanted to speak on it all so Kerr and the players don’t have to deal with any questioning, but it still seemed atypical.

No it was a calf strain, most likely grade 3
They rushed him or he rushed himself)( we don't know the full story).
At that point, parts of you body has to compensate for the other part and this is the likely outcome. It was between this and a glute strain... Sadly he got the worst end of the stick

Or option 3: They didn’t rush him and he didn’t rush himself.

There is ko option 3. Some of us speak from experience. GRADE 1 he can play through and the will ice it based on pain tolerance. GRADE 2, he would be in his final steps of coming back. GRADE 3 needs about 8 weeks to fully heal and then he had to work into shape. Don't let them spin this story, do some research all the facts are there, he is not the only person to suffer a calf tear.

Nah, lets be honest, KD is still getting the max from some team if he wants the money.

Nope. I doubt it. Guys in their 30s lose a lot after an achilles injury. If you are the Knicks and want to take that risk...you might not get what you are paying for even after waiting an entire year for him to come back.

Clippers and Knicks will max him no matter what imo.

Myers crying is probably because he knows there will a lot of questions and people out for blood. They should have never let KD play, you need to protect a player from himself and this was this exact instance. He hadn't played in over a month and you play him heavy minutes in the first q knowing he is coming off a serious injury? If Kerr was kept in the dark by the medical team about the risk of an a achilles tear I don't know, but this needs to be investigated by the NBA.

You're not lying. Myers' crocodile tears ain't working on me. They owe KD a max extension + a settlement deep into the 8-figures on top of it.

As a Knicks fan, I'm torn maxing out KD right now. Torn Achilles is a near career ender. Knicks likely won't get the HOF type Kevin Durant.
