If that is the case then why was everyone on Kawhi for refusing to play last year with a Spurs, or better why where people questioning the extent of Durant's injury .. questioning his heart and desire to play.

Because people are addicted to outrage porn and are looking to stir things up no matter what actually happens. This specific case is extra juicy given its magnitude. These people are never satisfied. Its just how their brains work (to be fair its kind of how everyone's brains work). Its the same mechanism as first world problems.

What makes it worse is that it actually isn’t ultimately Durant’s decision; it’s the coaching staff and medical team’s. Durant could have very well have begged them to play but ultimately is the coach and the medical team that has to give the go ahead. It’s why Chris Bosh,
despite desperately wanting to play, never played another NBA game after his blod clot diagnosis because everyone around him knew it could kill him. Obviously this injury isn’t on the same level but it highlights that the organization is responsible for who plays on the court.

Are you really comparing this to a blood clot that can kill a person? Seriously? KD was presented with facts by multiple doctors, not just team doctors, and made decision to play. **** happens.

Actually if you bothered to read the entire post I specifically point out that this injury isn’t on the same level particularly because I knew someone like you would fail to grasp the larger point: teams bear the responsibility for allowing players on the court or field. Chris Bosh’s example, while far more serious, is exactly why that’s the case.

With Bosh, a team literally didn't want him to die on their watch. Players have been playing with non life threatening injuries forever, it's ultimately their choice. Grant Hill played and ruined his career, Isiah played with a partially torn achilles as well. Team is responsible for disclosing the facts and making a recommendation. Players of KD's caliber make own decisions...see Kawhi.

Steve Kerr is the biggest fraud in the NBA he is constantly talking about how "woke" he is yet he constantly throws guys out there and rushes them back when they are injured. KD isn't the first instance he has done the same to Curry. Boogie is playing again when he wasn't supposed to for the rest of the playoffs.

No.

I regret saying that all of this would have a Shakespearean ending though. I never wished ill will on anyone's health or well-being.

It's actually very realistic that the GSW billionaires would get their win (possibly another ring) and throw KD's future to the curb.

It’s very likely that the medical staff has told KD all of the risks. I doubt that you will pinpoint anything back to the staff. This is a mutual decision bet KD and management after being made aware of the risks.

If anything, it just shows you that the Warriors is run by a bunch of cut throat tech jackasses who pretend to be nice people. Suck for KD that he bought the corporate lines instead of thinking for himself. I also blame KD agent for not looking for KD best interest. At the end of the day, KD is just an athlete.

Tell you what, if the Warriors want to just flat out pass and not offer anything, Durant and his lawyers will be good with that.

$100,000,000 on top, lmfao.

What's the pain and suffering, not playing for a year, and going from top 3 in the world to...#50? He would have been top 3 to 5 in the world for another what, 2 to 4 years? They cost him a lot of money -- easily $100M in earnings off the court. And don't forget, with Nike, that all-time legacy pays for DECADES. Lawyers will be calculating that and the number will be huge.

He owns the Warriors right now. This situation is as big of a story as he wants it to be. He comes out and says “nah, I talked to everyone, al kinds of doctors, not just the teams, and they all said I was cool and I wanted to play” and it’s a non-story. He said he felt pressured and it’s franchise altering.

Then, during the same 12 minutes, he gets hurt, and the team and the fanbase that 80% of the country was pulling for looks horrible in a way people will still bring up 30 years from now.

I mean, every year you still hear about Philly fans booing and throwing snowballs at Santa Clause, and that happened 51 years ago, and is kind of funny. This wasn’t funny and no one is ever forgetting it. So much damage was done in 12 minuets, except to KD’s perception, which will be better than it’s been since Lebron went to the Heat and he resigned in OKC.

People wonder why we watch this stuff.

What sick and twisted ish is this? WTF happened?

Yeah, I don’t know how to embed. Just search YouTube and there’s a video of the poor kid who played Santa and the everyone talking about the game where they pelted Santa with snowballs and booed him. Feel like it comes up every when I’m watching the sos Eagles game after it gets cold every year.

SO FREAKING WHAT!? None of that is legally actionable, which is all that matters, your feelings be damned.

Huh? It's a serious injury that probably signifies the end of an era. It's natural for the guy to cry.

If KD came back after being informed there was a real risk of tearing his Achielles then he is an idiot. If his teammates let him come back under those circumstances then they are jackasses.

Somehow I think the medical staff said it wouldn't get worse. That's what Kerr said and that lines up with the lack of a minute restriction.

no, you're wrong.

kd wanted to play, kawhi didn't and he told sas something was wrong.
which brings up another thing. what if kd wanted to play so badly that unlike kawhi he was willing to overlook any discomfort and not say anything to anybody.

hmm???
