Not all fans!
unfortunately media doesn't cover the good and bad parts in sports..they usually cover what sells the most at that moment. I think majority of the people in this forum knows that majority of Raps fans are not like this.
You cheer about someone getting injured is disgusting and has no place in sports. But what also doesn't belong in sports is painting things with a broad brush when it comes to 100-1000 or whatever the number of people who cheered was representing the whole fanbase.
Still a **** **** finals but game 5 was fun!

This might actually be good for Raptor fans, nobody wanted to see them celebrate a championship on their homecourt after that just happened. There will be far less back lash if they can close it out in 6 at the Oracle.
that's definitely true. i couldn't get hyped at all after the KD injury went down, partially because I know toronto fans look bad in the foreseeable future, and also I have a feeling even the raptors players themselves wouldn't fully enjoy the moment after what happened.
For the fan base, it's a learning process, 95% of those fans are bandwagoners, especially the rich ones court side. Cheer for an injury is a cardinal sin, which they havn't learn yet. There are some cheering in the jurassic park, but some have no concept of basketball other than ball goes thru hoop = good. The chicks in face paint would hardly know what three in the key is, i am sure they dont know how serious an ankle injury can be.

In the words of Boogie Raps fans are “trash”.

Nope, some people in the stands were wrong to cheer KD's injury. Outside of that though, the Raptors have the best fans in the NBA. When Heat fans show up by the thousands to cheer for their team outside of the arena then you can talk about other teams having trash fans. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a campaign in Miami during the Big 3 era where the Heat literally had to beg the fans to cheer? I believe it was telling Heat fans to "Fan Up" by not coming to games late and leaving early, whilst also leaving a friendly reminder to cheer for their team.

Overall the arena was loud already just from the peoples reactions/shock factor, but then you hear some whistling here and there which was totally uncalled for but usually when you have fans super invested in something with the gravity of this level, and alot of them are drinking, some are going to show their nasty side. Especially since Durant was jawing with Fred earlier.
But the cheer when he was leaving and KD chants were pretty loud so its alright.

No one is redeeming themselves. It's two groups of fans.
First **** bandwagon scum cheering that he's injured and then actual fans/non-dickheads clapping in support of him.
Based on how many cheered, I'm sure a lot of them redeemed themselves personally. And the rest of Raps fans showed what they are made of with the cheers for KD. You are being defensive here.

Thats what happens when you give you a brown dude a lotta money but no real education on how to handle himself with class. I'd know, I'm a brown dude myself. I see brown dudes like this all the time who think they're the **** cuz they have their dad's money to burn and a bunch of bitches on speed dial. Fake Machoism runs rampant in my people.

Purposely causing an injury vs cheering
What's worse clapping when a player goes down or being the guy that repeatedly causes the injuries on purpose like Draymond Green?, who is seen by American media as one of the games greatest defenders and ultimate competitors.

The difference is, when Draymond ‘injures’ a guy, Warriors fans don’t cheer.

Re: Not all fans!
I'm sure a lot of those fans probably want to take that back now after the fact. I'm not justifying the actions but I can understand what would incur someone to even go down this route as sad as it is. Sometimes when you haven't experienced much winning in a city like Toronto hasn't you're so eager to cheer for everything that is going to help your team win and in this case Durant's injury was only going to help their team in those fans' eyes. Ironically they still lost -- that's how Karma goes.

Re: Not all fans!
There were a lot of cheers for the injury. But there were far more cheers for his recovery. I think there must have been a few that realized they got caught up in the moment, regretted it, and turned back. And I'm sure a good number of fans and raptors faithful never cheered for the injury in the first place.
Still, the cheers for the injury are deserving of a story of their own.

So you're saying Warriors fans are embarrased with how Draymond purposely tries to injure the opposing teams best player?

I guess fans are held to a higher standard than the actual players playing the game...interesting...

Re: Not all fans!
The KD injury play where he slipped led to an Ibaka steal and fast break layup. Fans were cheering for that play. Not the injury. No one in the crowd knew what exactly happened until the whistle was blown and KD was supported off the court.

You're right, because they're loading up to dish out some punishment themselves.
