Tough year for Knicks fans, losing KP and a chance for Zion and Durant.

It might give us one more development season to organically build the team while he is out. Leonard should be the main focus now though. Maybe this pushes the Knicks to get AD or Beal more now.

Kawhi leonard is going to that stupid load management miss 30 game this organization doesn't have time for that type of crap. The ad trade doesn't make sense know the price way too much for no reason, and honestly you just got to be competitive and take change of guy like julius randle.

KP has mental health problem it was his time to go alleged rape of woman, he also gets ass kicked in lativia and pushes a woman. Good riddance to kp don't need that drama as for zion and durant it just wasn't meant to be.

AD is young so not sure it completely rules us out of making the same offer. In fact it may have no such effect at all.

I think there's a good chance Perry still pursues Durant.

I'm not sure what the plan/construction would be in that case (pursue other stars? sign him and tank again?), but KD is a lethal shooter, so the effect on his athleticism might not be as crippling as for other players.

Either way, if it happens it'll be a fascinating study.

Who are you pairing AD with? Kemba? Kyrie?

AD and Kyrie would be reminiscent of Amare 2.0 considering both their injury problems.

Kemba would be overpaid and isn’t a #2 guy.

There is zero reason to trade for AD unless we are guaranteed a bother big time player, which we aren’t. We would just be the Pelicans part 2.

Warriors Believe Kevin Durant's MRI Will Confirm Torn Achilles
JUN 11, 2019 2:12 AM

The Golden State Warriors believe that an MRI will confirm that Kevin Durant tore his right Achilles' tendon, according to Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

An MRI will take place on Tuesday.

Bob Myers confirmed that Durant suffered an Achilles' injury in an emotional press conference following the game.

I understand his flaws, but how on earth is Kemba not a #2 guy?

He took the second most shots in the league behind Harden, he was third in minutes, 11th in scoring, and was nearly identical to Eric Gordon from downtown in terms of both accuracy and volume. His efficiency is not top of the league, but it's also not even close to being problematic, and he was tied with Anthony Davis and Paul George for 3rd most games scoring 40 pts this past season (behind only Harden and Steph).

You might not like him or think he's worth giving a max to, but he seems to pretty clearly be a #2 guy if you were to put him in that role.

A torn Achilles is the worst injury in sports. The Knicks cannot give KD a max contract in the hopes that he returns to form in a 18 months.

It won’t happen, but the smart move is to sit the offseason out and continue to accumulate assets. Trade some cap space to accumulate some of the draft capital/young talent you should have acquired for Porzingis if you can.

Guys, its time to abort from our Plan A which was signing 2 max FAs and/or getting AD. No other max FA is coming here to pair with a Durant who will likely not even be present in the first year (and who knows how he will be when he comes back). AD won't resign here long term with so many question marks and we'll lose all our assets in the process. It's just not worth it.

It is time for us to walk away from the pipe dream and go to Plan B:

Assets

RJ Barrett
Mitchell Robinson
Top 5 Pick in 2020 Draft
Kevin Knox
Dennis Smith Jr.
Frank Ntilikina
Damyean Dotson
Alonzo Trier
Mavs 2021
Mavs 2023 lottery protected

+ potentially 4 1st round picks we can extract from having ~70 mil cap space. Absorb bad 1 year contracts from teams that are either trying to a) get under the salary cap for a signing or b) get under the luxury cap to avoid taxes

Potential Targets

1. Chandler Parsons, Grizzlies, 25 mil
2. Danilo Gallinari, Clippers, 22.6 mil
3. Evan Turner, Blazers, 18.6 mil
4. Tristan Thompson, Cavs, 18.5 mil
5. Reggie Jackson, Pistons, 18.1 mil
6. Bismack Biyombo, Hornets, 17.0mil
7. Timofey Mozgov, Magic, 16.2mil
8. Brandon Knight, Cavaliers, 15.6 mil
9. Ian Mahimi, Wizards, 15.5 mil
10. Jordan Clarkson, Cavaliers, 13.4 mil
11. Solomon Hill, Pelicans, 12.7 mil
12. Courtney Lee, Mavs, 12 mil
13. Meyers Leonard, Blazers, 11.2 mil
14. Maurice Harkless, Blazers, 11.0 mil
15. John Henson, Cavs, 10.4 mil
16. Markelle Fultz, Magic, 9.7 mil (with team option for following year)
17. Jon Leur, Pistons, 9.5 mil
18. CJ Miles, Grizzlies, 8.7 mil

Using the Nets-Hawks trade as the gold standard, each 15-20 mil should net us around a lottery protected 1st.

The question is who is realistic? I can definitely see Clippers trying to free up even more space by dumping Gallo. I can see Blazers trading any of Turner, Leonard,Harkless to get under luxury, esp with the albatross contract Lillard is about to get. Same with the Hornets (Biyombo) with Kembas mega contract. Pelicans have been trying to trade Solomon Hill for a while it seems and Wizards (Mahimi) can use some salary relief with Walls mega contract kicking in. Thoughts?

Doctors would already know if it's ruptured. If it is, there would be nothnig to feel in the back of his leg. If it's partially torn, it's less clear. They seem to have a very good and obvious reason to think it's a severe achillies injury to begin damage control tonight.

The way he went down the first time, I swear I thought it was already an Achilles injury. What if he just becomes a spot up shooter the rest of his career, does that justify paying him a max?

I'm afraid our front office will overreact and trade off too many young assets to bring in a star.

How many of those 18 you listed would you honestly want on the Knicks roster? And in what ways any of those would make NYK a contender in the East. Gallo and TT could be good additions to an already solid team, but that is all I can think of.

Said it from the jump I'm good with the rebuild. I hate to see any player get injured, hope Durant gets well.

But stay the course, roll the dough over. Keep the youth and rebuild properly.
