I offer Durant

2 years fully guarantee, prior to year 3 Knicks have option to fully guarantee the last 2 years. Durant gets a player option in year 4.

Look for teams needing to clear space, and gather picks for helping with our cap room. Gallo from the Clips come to mind.

He’s on a 1 year? For assets I’ll do it. Especially if he can play the 4.

Important to keep something in mind when considering any Anthony Davis offer.

The man is not signed past this upcoming season. If you trade for him, and you can't surround him with a suitable supporting cast (and we can't...not quickly), then he might just walk after next season, and then you're left with nothing.

On the other hand, if you retain your cap room by taking on 1 year deals in exchange for future picks, you can sign him outright next off-season (assuming that he really wants to come).

2021 unprotected First + Gallo for cap relief. Gallo is actually a good player I wouldn’t mind taking him on to help the clips sign FA.

I would sign D'angelo Russell (age 23 years old) and Tobias Harris (age 26) and then package the young players and the Dallas picks for Anthony Davis (age 26). I feel like this would make us a contender now with a nice long window because all of these players still have their best basketball ahead of them. To round out the roster, I would go with young players who haven't quite panned out but are hungry for a second chance like the guys we signed this year in Mudiay, Vonleh and Hezonja.

Kobe was April-December, I think.

18 months, and a 32 year old Durant would certainly not be the same player.

But AD was always a maybe - it's a trade.
Kawhi is a total wildcard.

Durant was different. Minus those accusations being leveled about "entitled" Knick fans in another topic, there was STRONG smoke he was coming here.

Now the Knicks are just another team with their fingers crossed, only with a perception of being awful for 20 years they still can't shake.

Lost my enthusiasm for the off season last night. Sure, I'll pay attention. Speculate a little. But it's different now. Anyone who doesn't see that is being a little bit foolish.

Achilles from what I understand is certainly not career threatening. Dr.Chao the guy who broke this thing on the net said it shouldn't affect his FA. Kawhi with a more mysterious injury was traded for when not fully healed and it worked out pretty well.

If you insult KD with a contract like this, he won't come. Plenty of other teams will guarantee his contract like nothing happened. And so will James Dolan

Nobody is saying to rely on the lottery. But we will be a sub par team and we will end up with a top 5ish pick. Use that to continue to rebuild along with our other future picks.

No brainer if they part with something. Adds a shooting element for us as well.

You either go all in and offer him the max or be completely out. Why waste both your time with a crappy deal.

This “I guess youth movement time” mentality is missing two things:

1)KD to the Knicks opens up the entire NBA landscape. We could’ve won a title in the next 2-3 years.
2) Our overall youth is mediocre. Knox sucks, Smith is mediocre, and the only one with mad potential isn’t someone who’s going to be a go to scorer (Mitch).

For you youngins on the board, I hate to say you’re being idealistic and naive, but just give it a few years. You’ll see just like the rest of us how **** we are and how far the “youth movement” will get us. Unless Kawhi comes, we are back to square one with no hope in sight (unless RJ Barrett becomes a superstar).

yeah. we just missed a real shot at the title in the next couple years. the top players are who win in this league mostly and drafting one is pretty hard. and it's very rare that one of those guys wants to be a knick. this was our best shot since the 70s. better than the ewing era. but it is what it is. kawhi aint coming, everybody knows that. the knicks are not even in a position to give kawhi 25 games off a season like the raptors do. they did that and maintained the 2 seed. there's no real choice but to do the youth movement now.

Like I said, I'm old enough to watch Ewing bum knees, Marbury's vaseline drama, 2010 offseason blue balls, fake unicorn and now KD's legs. I'll ride those legs, FCK IT. Give him a god damn contract. I just want to see a top 3 player on a Knicks bench. Even getting a damn ring for NY is not going to happen anytime soon.

Well then you need to read up more

Players don't just come back from achilles, Nique is the lone example of a player being what he was before the injury after it. Even if he comes back and is good, he's not gonna be the same KD. Kawhi's injury being mysterious helped because nobody knew what it was, so you can take the risk it's something to come back from which it was, but an achilles tear is quantifiable, we know how bad it is

The Dr. Chao guy said if it was only a partial tear it shouldn't affect his free agency, because a partial tear you can come back from but it's still really risky because the potential to re-tear it (fully this time) is much higher. Full tear, there's no getting back from that
