I'm disgusted with sports world; media, fans, athletes, executives...

Post#762 » by jamalkandur » Tue Jun 11, 2019 2:06 pm

Don't try to leave yourselves out, everybody has been part of this crime. I've seen multiple threads and hundreds of posts how KD fakin it, dragging out this "minor" injury and trying to prove GSW can't win without him. All the disgusting media talking heads, which their only jobs spewing rumors, jawing and casually drag people's names through the mud without any self-reproach or shame and making millions over this moral perversion, and the fans who buy into this infamy and elevate them are the instigators. They're not only the consumers but also the contributors of this toxic sports culture.

Also his teammates and front office did him dirty; first came into existence as Draymond's temper tantrum , "we don't need you" , then all corroborated it by keeping quiet in face off all the media cesspool, even some of them whispered to ears of their media buddies, anonymously/cowardly.

Now they're shedding crocodile tears...Media, Kerr, Myers, Curry... This once in a lifetime talent got robbed from advancing his legacy to named as the best player of his era by superseding LBJ and we fans deprived of witnessing at least 3 more years of his prime. Media, Fans, teammates, coaching staff, Warriors FO all collectively created the pressure to force him to play and it disgusted me.

You sound big mad. He didn't get robbed of anything. He got hurt because he chose to play.

You're gonna get a lot of push-back in this thread but I agree with you, mostly about the media/rumor culture of today's NBA.

Nobody care that you are disgusted with something, you are attention seeker and there shouldn't be a thread about your drama feelings.

Unfortunately KD will be out for 1 year and will never be the same top 10 all-time great, MVP type player. We have seen first hand what this injury does to players on many occasions.

According to a 2013 medical study that identified 18 players who suffered major Achilles injuries over a 23-year span (1988-2011), seven players never returned to the league. Players who returned missed an average of 56 games and saw their PER decline in their first and second seasons back. A 2015 CBS Sports article found that among 14 players who returned from Achilles injuries since 1992, they averaged fewer minutes while both their field goal and three-point percentages dropped, on average. There are very few complete success stories.

It sucks but KD's best days are behind him now. The League has changed since yesterday.

GSW set the narrative that KD is not hurt.
Tell us everyday that KD can come back next game like 2 weeks ago, tell us he will play game 4 or not is his own choice etc etc

All of that make him look selfish for not rushing back to play, manipulate and pressure him to play through injury.

PS. Kawhi makes the right choice to hold out from Spurs.

And the media ate it right up w/ their non stop talking about KD coming back since game 3. The obsession with star players and ratings is also to blame. NBA wanted him out there to create a narrative and look what happened. It’s honestly disgusting - very few people are innocent in this IMO. I haven’t turned on ESPN and those channels, but wondering if they are going to have the nerve to blame all kinds of people when they themselves are just as complicit?

It's unfortunate what happened but he's a grown man that ultimately made the final decision to play or not. He could have done what Kawhi did last year but pride and pressure got to him.

Obviously KD is sensitive to media and fans so with all the chatter questioning his heart, he had to return.

Shti happens, 2nd biggest loser in this is the Knicks. No Zion, No KD.

If you want to blame the Warriors front office, medical staff, and coaching staff who greenlit this nonsense last night, by all means you should. They were all derelict in their duty to protect the safety and well being of the player.

Don't blame the rest of us. I can tell you for a fact if Durant played on the Nets he would have never been cleared to play.

This is a perspective not yet covered yet though. Don't think this should get buried in that megathread a lot to unpack here

I was guilty of this, and I admit I feel bad now. But at the end of the day the fans are going to talk crazy, the media is going to talk crazy, but the organization needs to be smart. If he was not 100% even in shoot around, his team and the training staff should not have allowed him to play this game. This is a f*ck up on the Warriors end, you can't blame the media and the fans.
