Raptor fans cheering only because they thought a player suffered a minor injury would change everything imo. That would be totally normal.

TBF we have not seen any injuries as important or as impactful as this one this late in the finals. I mean, this basically dooms the Warriors and guarantees the Raptors win. Golden State were smoking the Raps and then KD went down and everything changes.

Aaah! Thanks for clarifying. Here I was thinking this was shameful human behavior regardless of the context. But now that you have clarified the importance of this injury and justified their behavior, it makes me feel better. My faith in humanity is restored!

Raps fans are awesome. Sorry I ever doubted you! Keep cheering on KD's injury, cuz you know, it's the finals. You deserve it!

Yeah, because the context matters 100% as to why someone should cheer the fact that a guy got seriously injured.

It doesn't matter if it was the finals or a frickin exhibition match versus a team from the Israeli league in the preseason. There's no excuse for it, and no it is not a wide spread behavior among fanbases.

You asked a question and i answered.
Helping myself? What exactly do i need to help myself about? I didn't cheer for him to get injured and have said those who did are morons and a embarrassment. Not every Raptor fan or person who lives in Toronto is the same as those idiots who cheered. Thinking they are is flat out stupid and ignorant.

No one thinks this. We think Raptors fans are **** because they cheered on the injury of a player and the ones that didn't are up and down RealGM saying "not all Raptors fans" instead of joining in on the condemning of the fans cheering on an injury because they care more about Raptors fans' image than the fact some of their fellow fans cheer on injuries.

I didn't cheer anything. I put it into context. I don't think it's right but it's also not your everyday NBA injury scenario. IDGAF who wins really.

Talking to people who were there and they tell me people were cheering the Ibaka steal and then continued to cheer but didn't realize KD was that hurt. It's a screw up and there are definitely fans who effing suck in our building. We just need to apologize and do better. I apologize for that ish - it's pathetic that that happened in our building, even if overblown.

As a raps fan, the fans in the arena were terrible before the game even started. I remember them booing KD during warmups, and thinking "did he say something bad about toronto? Why are we booing him?" I don't think we were booing steph, klay, or draymond, so maybe a lot of raps fans hate KD for some reason. Whoever cheered for that were terrible people, or maybe they didn't understand what a terrible injury looks like, so they are just stupid fans.

Fans in different places react differently to things for sure, as mentioned Boston and especially Philly both have a reputation that proceeds them. It's immaturity and too many bandwagoners puffing their chests up, the hype around the goofy Jurassic Park and Drake dancing & shadow boxing on the sidelines almost every play is just a breeding ground for bloodthirsty idiots. It's unfortunate since there are a lot of great Raptor fans and Canadians in general have reputation for being nice but obviously you can't paint with such a broad brush one way or the other. What sucks is that it would be hard perceive how many people were quiet in the moment, of course the doofuses are going to be the loudest. You got to act like you've been there before even if you haven't, too much desperation to win just makes a fool out of you.

Take a few bad apples and generalize it to an entire fan base to fit your narrative. Whatever helps you sleep at night bud.

If an arena full of 15k fans is a "few", don't tell us what you consider "some".

It wasn't the whole arena cheering the injury, it was a number of them, most were just super pumped for Siakam getting the fast break basket. When most of them realised the extent of the injury (him walking off) I think they applauded him and DID show class. Obv the initial reaction wasn't great, but it was in the moment

Right, so Toronto is some magical weird place where people for some reason react differently. That sounds really logical.

I'm sorry, most fanbases don't erupt with cheers, taunts, and laughter when a player gets up and can't even walk properly.

When the team's own PLAYERS have to step up and tell the fans to stop there is something seriously awful going on. Don't try to project this stuff onto other fanbases because it doesn't happen like it did last night.

Right, magical place with different human reactions. Gotcha.

The point you are missing is that the same ones who are saying its not all raptor fans are also saying the ones who did cheer for the Injury are trash. You are just looking for a reason to be angry at them all and build a wall to prevent any reasonable discussion. Recreational outage at its finest. People have the right to be angry at the idiots who cheered, but you don't have the right to put that on EVERYONE and not expect some push back. Keep the anger direct at the right people and no one will even bother debating you because you would have right. Its the people using this as a platform to push hate on a whole city or fanbase.

I just wish some of you (see how I can distinguish that it's not ALL of you -- the irony) would stop labelling an entire fanbase by the actions of a PORTION of them and while completely inexcusable is it not reasonable to assume when it occured (which is when people are harping on) even that vocal minority didn't know the extent or severity?!? Once they did EVERYBODY'S tone changed...and gave him a standing ovation and cheered FOR him. It was an idiotic mistake by that portion of the crowd.

But again other than an agenda idk why some of you here ad nasuem keep repeating that its the entire fanbase when literally not even a single Raptors poster here hasn't felt for KD, shown compassion. been remorseful and even felt compelled to continually apologize for the minority repeatedly despite THEIR (the minority's) actions not being reflective of the majority. All we can do is apologize for them but at some point you have to accept it not discard it.

It just defies all logic to label an entire fanbase when you literally have an overwhelming amount right here that have shown the opposite and many, many more both in that crowd and abroad that feel/felt horrible for KD.

If you refuse to acknowledge that then you clearly have some other agenda n f you for it.

It is understandable in the heat of the moment the Raptors basically though they won the Finals, and they didn't do it as much as from wishing KD being seriously hurt, but because they felt that they can definetly win no. No excuse ofc, just say it how it was

This is exactly what happened and I’m not sure why Raptors fans are trying to play stupid.

I for one am sick of when a few losers do something, whatever group they’re apart of gets pulled into their stupidness. Just say that.

I got the impression that people were cheering for the defensive play and the break away layup without knowing the magnitude of the injury. It wasn't as obvious as a pg or Hayward broken leg KD just sat down. The Achilles weren't even a thing because it was reported as calf injury. But I digress

Most people in this thread are phony as ****. Everyone has an agenda now that it has recently happened and they want to pretend to be the all high and mighty. Ask those same people what they said when Oden, Rose, Roy and all these other players kept getting injured over and over. It turned from a "poor" guy to mocking them for being injury prone. People don't really care about other teams injuries, but to make themselves feel good about themselves they will talk **** about Raptor fans today.

They were cheering for KD limping, it's pretty clear when you watch the replay. The play had already happened, several seconds pass with KD on the ground, he gets up limping and the arena erupts...hence Lowry/Ibaka telling them to stop.

NO ONE IS DOING THIS. I'm separately calling out those fans and people like you for 2 different things. Them for being scumbags, you for attempting to defend scumbags by redirecting the conversation to be about someone other than them.

There was a slow build up.

The raps were steadily cutting into the lead, they had made a few clutch plays in a row, and it looked like serge of all people made a great steal and fastbreak and we were all jacked up......and Durant just kinda pulled up lame. At first look it didn't look like he had just suffered a career threatening injury, though it did seem that at least he wasn't 100% which admittedly some raps fans were cheering. It might be unfair but if he had gone down clearly in major pain, the crowd would almoat certainly have gone silent.

Plenty of people have had injuries in Toronto, and fans have never behaved like this before. For those saying this would never happen elsewhere, because its never happened before, well that's true here too before last night. Understanding what happened isn't that difficult. It just requires a basic understanding of human behavior. The same thing that caused those fans to cheer, is the same reason people are gleefully destroying a rival fanbase this morning. Rivalries are ugly sometimes, and sometimes you just gotta take your lumps. Today, Raptors fans have to take it.

Accept it fam, we **** up.
