It just goes to show that the Raptors wouldn't even be in this series if KD was healthy, and the Raps fans know it. Every one of those stupid fans waving and cheering at KD while he's obviously injured knew exactly what it meant for them, an easier path to a championship. It's an easy 5 game series for GS if both teams are healthy, but part of the game is load management, and the Warriors management did a bad job of it this year by not getting a proper bench behind their all star lineup.

The Raptors and Kawhi were the butt of many jokes this season for "load management" but after seeing so many guys get hurt, I think people need to reevaluate that perception. These players are human, and wear-and-tear is a real thing. If a guy needs to nurse a strain or soreness, then let them do that. Missing a regular season game here and there isn't going to make or break your season, and in this series, it might make be the difference. It will be interesting to see if other teams take a more cautionary approach to their stars in the future.

It is understandable in the heat of the moment the Raptors basically though they won the Finals, and they didn't do it as much as from wishing KD being seriously hurt, but because they felt that they can definetly win no. No excuse ofc, just say it how it was

This is exactly what happened and I’m not sure why Raptors fans are trying to play stupid.

I for one am sick of when a few losers do something, whatever group they’re apart of gets pulled into their stupidness. Just say that.

But everyone has lol YOU just refuse to acknowledge that, that's the irony.

Some of you keep repeating this even though there are endless apologies and acknowledgement that a portion of our crowd was stupid, caught up in the moment and also very likely not aware of the extent/severity and when they did gave KD a standing ovation. I've literally seen dozens and dozens of apologies IN THIS THREAD but it just keeps falling on (willingly) deaf ears/blind eyes and instead gets ignored and repeated how only this place would have such people where posters get sick of apologizing then point out other examples so you can understand dumb sh*t/people is not exclusive to here and no one is proud of the actions of those instances or this one.

The point you are missing is that the same ones who are saying its not all raptor fans are also saying the ones who did cheer for the Injury are trash. You are just looking for a reason to be angry at them all and build a wall to prevent any reasonable discussion. Recreational outage at its finest. People have the right to be angry at the idiots who cheered, but you don't have the right to put that on EVERYONE and not expect some push back. Keep the anger direct at the right people and no one will even bother debating you because you would have right. Its the people using this as a platform to push hate on a whole city or fanbase.

NO ONE IS DOING THIS. I'm separately calling out those fans and people like you for 2 different things. Them for being scumbags, you for attempting to defend scumbags by redirecting the conversation to be about someone other than them.

No one is doing this? A lot of people are doing this but it doesn't mean i'm redirecting for pointing it out. I have not defended a single scumbag and i've now told you that about 10 times, I know your smarter than this.. I swear I even said I agree those people are scumbags, its like you are so worked up you don't even bother to read what i'm writing, I haven't redirected **** either I even called them out myself. Why don't you read the whole post instead of over reacting.. Man chill a little

Raptor fans:

"If we lose it's because the refs"

"The Sixers played us close but only because we couldn't hit open shots"

"We cheered but it was for something else"

"We punched a guy in the street, but, uh, he sucked"

Whiniest group of fans on the board.

I wasnt there. But as a raptors fan i thought "yes" its a minor injury cant return for the game.
And after you saw the seriousness ofcourse you did not ask that not even for anybody.

And once again the fans made up for it. cheered him and chanted his name.

This is true.

There's a number of people with a vested interest in portraying Toronto fans as particularly awful.

Only thing that is worst than the raptors fan who you are talking about are the people who come out of hiding to complain consistently and end up whining more.. Ironic

Conveniently this post will be glossed over and ignored for those who want to keep pushing their agenda that it's something exclusive to Toronto to have a portion of IDIOTS ruin it for the rest of the population.

Despite the endless apologies on their behalf from nearly every Raptor poster on this board, ALL expressing compassion, remorse etc for KD...they'll just willingly ignore it because clearly they just want to place a label despite the overwhelming contradicting evidence, it's to the point where if they ignore it that it borders on trolling.

Ask those same people what they said when Oden, Rose, Roy and all these other players kept getting injured over and over. It turned from a "poor" guy to mocking them for being injury prone. People don't really care about other teams injuries, but to make themselves feel good about themselves they will talk **** about Raptor fans today.

I don't get why people assume you have to literally name every fan of the team and show they're a bad person to say a fanbase is toxic for their actions as a fanbase.

Outside of Philly and Boston (both known for having the worst fanbases in the 2 other major professional sports) who else has done this?

KC.

Well that's not basketball and they don't have an NBA team at all in KC. Either way Chiefs fans are known for being some of the worst fans in the NFL so you're not helping yourself here.

I remember when Utah fans mocked Derek Fisher’s daughter’s eye tumor. Go ahead mock a man, celebrate his injury, but never mock a man’s family and his ailing daughter. That was far more worse than this.

If Durant had just re-strained his "calf", would it have been as big a deal?

I wasn't at game nor am a supporter of Raptors so my first reaction was damn he's done and that sucks but if I was a Kings fan and they were playing Warriors, I may have cheered initially as a knee jerk reaction to be honest.

Eh. Raps were down 5 with the warriors shooting the lights out.

It would be a much tougher series, but the raps most certainly would be right in it.

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster

I think a big contributing factor of the cheering was because of all the pressure and anxiety being built up to the moment of Durant's injury. The entire series, Durant's injury was looming over the raptors fanbase (will he play, when will he be back, will he be 100%). Most raptors fans know the warriors are a completely different team when Durant is out there (clearly shown in the first quarter of game 5) and I think when he went down, the built up anxiety was all released at once. It kinda reminded me of the donovan bailey vs michael johnson race when johnson pulled up with a hamstring injury.

Let me say that by no means is this an excuse, I am very disappointed in a large portion of the toronto fanbase for clapping and cheering Durant's injury. It was not restricted to the arena, the bar I was at had alot of clapping and cheering as well. We need to represent the city better.

I think Cowbulls hit the nail on the head, and that's partly what's made me feel so defensive about all of this. When these scolding comments are coming from Bucks or Celtics fans, I can't help but think their feelings are already amplified from the existing animosity between the fan bases. They hate our fanbase, and when something like this happens, this is just proof to them that they were right to feel that way. And let's be honest, when people say "Well, now I'm actively rooting for the Warriors now", it's not like they weren't doing that already.

There is also the fact that fans on this very site regularly call Durant a snake, and vilify him for joining the Warriors. Now, everyone is concerned for his well being?

For myself, it wasn't even evident to be that he had hurt himself. Because he wasn't writhing around in agony on the court. At first, I thought maybe his shoe had come loose. Then, once I realised what happened, I was mad, because the Warriors had put him in that position, and he should never have been on the court to begin with. But this isn't like the Gordon Hayward injury where visually, it's a horrific injury.

Any fan that cheered the injury was an idiot and in the wrong. I would *hope* that they realize this and regret it. It was embarrassing to Toronto and to Canada. I don't think the US networks showed it, but after the gravity of the situation set in and the raw excitement of what was a score off a turnover subsided, the fans did give KD a standing O and chanted KD! KD! KD! in support. Does this make things better? Not fully. All I ask (as a Canadian who has a lot of American friends and family) is that you don't judge an entire fan base or country based on these idiots. God knows that there a a lot of idiots in every country (including the US) and if we all judge each other by each other's worst examples no one would get along.
The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time...
