It is understandable in the heat of the moment the Raptors basically though they won the Finals, and they didn't do it as much as from wishing KD being seriously hurt, but because they felt that they can definetly win no. No excuse ofc, just say it how it was

No they aren't. First of all there was the steal and it was a major play, Durant was down behind the play while everyone jumped up to watch the play finish but there was the stoppage, the majority of fans were cheering the team making an amazing play. I was in the arena and on the opposite side of KD, far end, hadn't even seen he went down until all the players ran over to that side.

Sure, there were some idiots waiving bye and cheering for those reasons, but that is not a reflection of the fanbase. Every city has it's share of idiots that act dumb, a little alcohol, a little heat of the moment emotion and you get stuff like this. I have friends who were in GS for game 4 who said some GS fans were cheering when Fred got hurt. But the whole arena wasn't up cheering a Dubs play in the same way. The optics of what went down makes it look like the entire crowd was cheering, they weren't. The players weren't even reacting to it more so telling everyone to calm down and this is more serious. When you watch on TV, it comes across as a whole arena cheering but it wasn't. Then the crowd clapped him off and chanted KD.

Again, I'm sure there were idiots cheering this and they are that, but that is not all Raptors fans.

When these scolding comments are coming from Bucks or Celtics fans, I can't help but think their feelings are already amplified from the existing animosity between the fan bases. They hate our fanbase, and when something like this happens, this is just proof to them that they were right to feel that way. And let's be honest, when people say "Well, now I'm actively rooting for the Warriors now", it's not like they weren't doing that already.

Exactly. This whole thing is just an extension of the debate over which fan-base is better. Nebulous arguments that don't go anywhere. We are ultimately spectators. We have no control over what happens on the court, what happens with people that aren't us. We want to put ourselves into the game, so we argue about semantic things like what fan-base is louder, what fan-base is best. Let's face it though, we don't really matter. We're just watching these things unfold.

Having said that, Raps fam **** up.

So, you don't want the people who cheered to be representative of your fanbase, yet you're using a tabloid newspaper against Knick fans? I as editor of the NY Daily news am sorry, as are all the other Knick fans who are editors and writers for the Daily news

You could have at least asked why no Knick fans punched James Dolan in the face for throwing out Oakley. The "whataboutism" is exactly why people are coming down on Raptor fans, because instead of accepting that your fanbase had a poor showing last night, you're doubling down and defending those pieces of trash.

Nobody is going to defend the Daily News, but you will continue to hold the fort down for the Rap fans who cheered.

Bro don't even bother. It's clear as day a majority of the GB had an agenda ready from the start and yesterday was the day where they could put it on full blast. They were clearly waiting for this moment to rip our fanbase apart

Very bad moment for Raps fans. You can't say it was only a few bad apples because we all saw it on TV. At least half the visible fans cheered and gleefully waived goodbye when KD came up limping. Made me feel gross for them, honestly.

However considering how hype everyone was and what was at stake, you can understand them getting caught up in the moment. They stopped as soon as the realized they were doing wrong. I'm glad there are at least some Raps fans on here taking the L and admitting it was a bad moment for the fanbase. I've been rooting for the Raps this Finals, in large part because I love how much the fans love their team and how much they truly appreciate the moment. I found myself rooting for the Warriors last night after the injury because the fans were suddenly in my doghouse. But I won't hold it against them forever. People make mistakes and in that kind of environment mistake can go viral.

I've really become a Lowry fan the last couple months. He was never a favorite of mine in the past, but he's gained my respect with his strong play and he's gained me as a fan the more I've heard from him in interviews. And taking the lead on chastising the crowd last night. Really good dude.

One more thing, this had a lot to do with the bizarre level of KD obsession and hatred that has festered among NBA fans. I don't think the instinct would have been to cheer if it was a different player. I hope folks can see KD more as a human being now. It's time to scale back the hate on this guy, for real.

No. The defense is called human nature and falling prey to the mob mentality when the stakes are high. It happens everywhere. Raptors fans are more passionate than others yes they over-reacted but recanted as soon as they realized that he was seriously injured.

The GB is simply jealous of the Raptors and their fans and are looking for any excuse to demean us.

No there have been COUNTLESS APOLOGIES and compassion for KD expressed from our fanbase IN THIS VERY THREAD that is conveniently just ignored...you're doing it right now lol

No, I've said my piece, I condemn the idiots who waved and were happy that he was hurt. But I'm also defending an entire Arena of Raptor Fans from being vilified when they supported KD and yet no one is talking about that. And im definitely defending Raptor Fans on RealGM from this Raptor Hate Circlejerk that has gotten some of you so aroused.

I was sad for Durant and sad for my Fanbase, but that sadness turned to anger when some of you opened your lips and unleashed an absurd farce upon my neighbors, my City, and my adopted Country. Foh.

Can you show me where he defended it? Saying its not a whole fan base is not the same as defending the idiots who did something wrong. Why don't you see to get this? I know it doesn't fit your narrative that we are all bad but at some point you have see that no one is defending them and only saying it wasn't everyone.

No but it's making an irrelevant point and attempting to redirect the conversation from the actions of the large amount of people cheering on his injury. You don't have to explicitly say an action is good to defend that action, you can do that just fine by redirecting the conversation.

I'm an Eagles fan, you'll never catch me defending the Eagles fanbase as a whole though because they're pretty vile fans. You apparently need to get yourself out that same tribalism. Being a fan of the team that doesn't agree with the way they reacted should make you care even more about how they acted.

I'm not a fan of either team. My intention is to stop fanbase bashing because it's not representative of the fans on these boards. The people that your words are targeting.

It's very much relevant and in context. Bashing the fans who are on these boards, that did not cheer and showed genuine concern, that's what I call irrelevant.

No, the defense is not that everyone else does it. The defense is that idiots are idiots and some arbitrary geographical lines, or team support doesn't change that.

If you want to have a discussion on how idiots act and how stupid that reaction is, so be it. Just take out Raptors Fans from it and focus on the idiots part. And anyone that waived Bye last night or cheered for the injury should be called out cause they are idiots.

Unfortunately there are people in every fan base with a few idiots that are over the top and just not worth the time of day like the Warriors minority owner s*itbag Mark Stevens. What strikes me is the sheer number of Raptor fans inside the arena and outside cheering KD's injury. I though in General Canadians were simply the most polite and good people in the World. It was just a sad moment for all Canadians and I hope those that were part of it reflect on their actions and get back to being part of the good that Canada represents.

It seems like posters from franchises that thought they were getting KD in free agency are the ones most heated at Raptor fans.

Is this just a coincidence?

There wasn't a large number of people cheering the injury, like I said above, I was in the building and cheering the moment KD was down because i had no clue he was even hurt as did many. We were all on our feet seconds before as Serge was driving from the turnover. You couldn't even see KD down. Then when we saw, by that point players were rushing over and the Raptors players were calming the crowd down. I truly believe hte majority were cheering the turnover first and didn't even know in the building KD was hurt until the dust settled. By then, the narrative had been written that Raps fans were cheering KD being hurt. It's the optics on TV vs what actually happened.

Were there some idiots probably cheering, sure, but they are idiots and that's what they do.

People have the right to be angry at the idiots who cheered, but you don't have the right to put that on EVERYONE and not expect some push back. Keep the anger direct at the right people and no one will even bother debating you because you would have right. Its the people using this as a platform to push hate on a whole city or fanbase.

NO ONE IS DOING THIS. I'm separately calling out those fans and people like you for 2 different things. Them for being scumbags, you for attempting to defend scumbags by redirecting the conversation to be about someone other than them.

No one is doing this? A lot of people are doing this but it doesn't mean i'm redirecting for pointing it out. I have not defended a single scumbag and i've now told you that about 10 times, I know your smarter than this.. I swear I even said I agree those people are scumbags, its like you are so worked up you don't even bother to read what i'm writing, I haven't redirected **** either I even called them out myself. Why don't you read the whole post instead of over reacting.. Man chill a little

What is this post then? Are we discussing the fans being **** or another topic? Now why exactly are we discussing this other topic? Answer those and tell me you're not attempting to misdirect the conversation.

Plus anyone with a brain knows it wasn't all raptor fans. Hell even skip bayless was reasonable about it. Funny how much people look for a reason to have outrage.
