He's still coming here even if he's going to be out a year+.
Too many things are in place for both sides to backout now.
It is what it is.

Ultimately I hope durant's ok for his own sake, but it never ends. Getting him to begin with was obviously not certain, but at least you could let the chips fall where they may.
If it comes out that he tore it, I don't see how you max him out. Sitting out a season is fine, but this is still the death sentence injury in the NBA. Nique is still the only star that has come back full strength from it. And who knows how a guy with durant's body recovers from it.

No bro, being cursed is signing Durant than he gets hurt in training camp or even the first game. We still have plenty of options, option #1 has just been thrown out the window.

we can still accomplish acquiring future assets and rebuilding why letting KD rehab. I still think this is a possibility. And a risk that might be worth taking.

I get what you're saying but who on this team do you see rising to the Derozan Lowry levels? These were two of probably the top 25 players in the NBA last year.
Frank Ntlikina. This is going to be his breakout year! IT REALLY IS!

But there is no rehabbing this type of injury. We are not signing 'KD'. That 'KD' doesn't exist anymore. What you're signing is a washed up player who you hope can give you 50% of what that old player was. I don't think most realize how bad this injury is what it means. Would you give Bogdanovic the max? Cause that's the level of player KD is now.

They would suck short term. Long term, there's a playoff team and possibly more with internal development.
That team is never contending for a title.

your acting like KD is dead. Is coming off this injury easy? No but we don't even know the extent it is yet. You are guessing just as much as everyone else.

Neither were the Lowry/DeRozan Raptors.
They aquired Lowry 7 years ago. DeRozan played for the team for nine years. Were the Raps ultimately able to build a champion contender or nah?
I get what you're saying but who on this team do you see rising to the Derozan Lowry levels? These were two of probably the top 25 players in the NBA last year.
Also helps when your GM fleeces everyone, then uses the winnings in previous fleeces to fleece other teams for a bigger piece.
DeRozan is the comp that people throw around for Barrett all the time. Hard to say yet without seeing him in the NBA but he can get to that level. We can look to next year's draft for our Lowry as it is another one with a lot of points. Mitch is a very good piece. VERY good. Just a few weeks ago he was untouchable. Now that people came to accept the AD trade, he's basura again? Nah. And we still have our picks + others going forward. We can acquire others.
And yes - we need management that doesn't get reamed time and time again. That would help a lot. Somebody who understands the mechanics of incremental building like Masai. Perry... may...
