Random Rumor and General Offseason Discussion Thread
As the offseason picks up steam in earnest, I figured I would post a guide as to how we typically handle the offseason, and give a thread where we can discuss the offseason in general, because I'm not afraid of multitasking this morning.
So, here goes a primer on general thread organization:
Official trades (when they break)
Sample title: Official: OKC trades #21 and Roberson for Fournier (Shams)
Please start it with Official, as his separates it from all the mock trades posted within minutes of it.
Sample body: Include trade breaking tweet when possible, and a poll ideally. I'm a sucker to see the polls as we tend to get a lot of people curious about what people thought at the time, and it makes a nice record as to whether everyone hated the Fultz/Tatum trade then, or just now. And if you are loserX, or cut from a similar cloth, you can have fun punny choices for each!
Official signings (when they break)
Sample title: Official: OKC signs TJ McConnell for 1 year 3.3m (Aldridge)
Please start it with Official, as his separates it from all the mock trades posted within minutes of it, and when possible attributing it to the source is nice but not needed at all.
Sample body: Include signing breaking tweet when possible. If you want a poll, you can, but it certainly isn't needed.
Large Rumors
Sample title: Rumor: OKC looking to trade #21 for win now (WOJ) . Or, Rumor (Woj): OKC looking to trade #21 for win now
Please start it with rumor, and include in the title somewhere the source. Why? Because a ruor from Kyler and a rumor from Woj and a rumor from Windy, and a rumor from Ramona all carry different weights. Right away identifying who the 'credible' source is an amazing service to posters.
Sample body: Include reference to the source, be it tweet or just write "said now n ESPN" or on the podcast (and a link is amazing when possible).
Small rumors/ random speculation
Feel free to if something doesn't feel quite big enough to discuss as its own topic, add it to the general offseason thread.
Example: Terrence Ross wouldn't mind signing in Utah, but hasn't narrowed down a list of suitors and is open to everywhere, including Orlando per Bob at blogspot. Probably safe to throw it into the general thread, doesn't seem all that informative or credible. Including sourcing is amazing, as with above.
That said, maybe this is interesting enough for its own thread. After all, I'm now kind of curious about Ross' fit on Utah, and could make at least 2 posts on it. When in doubt, make a new thread!
If you do have any questions (or suggestions for an even better method!), feel free to publicly post em or private message them.
Finally, each year, we end up having a thread where we throw all the random small rumors and speculation and people posting ideas in a free flowing area. So, let her rip here.

Ha you are are probably correct about expanding thread.
This is a great place for random Woj one liners.

I feel this thread should have a namesake. Steve Kyler? Chris Sheridan? Chris Broussard?
Or are those guys a different thread altogether?

My second favorite to the eating crow thread after the dust settles.

the plan is to get as good as quickly as possible....I fully believe we could have been a borderline playoff team last year by adding young veterans....using or draft picks and cap space.....can I specifically tell you who? no.

I'm still busy choking down Nerlens Noel seasoned crow. And when Harrison Barnes opts in after me saying all year he wouldn't that's going to go down hard as well.... I hate that stupid thread---of course its my own fault for having a lot of stupid takes so....

Yeah, hard to say. Hayward is the only bad salary on the roster. Even if they aren't happy/rather spend money other ways, Yabusele and Williams are small enough to dump easily.
And, it all depends on what direction they go with regards to Kyrie and AD. Would make sense to try and combine any two of those picks into a "better" pick, or even see on draft night if they could turn, say, 22, into a lotto protected future 1st?

I suspect they'll try to trade them for future picks and kick the can down the road like the Deyonta Davis deal. Usually someone will fall in love with a prospect, but I think they'll be hard pressed to get a future first given how many picks in that range could be on the table. Who knows though.

I'd see if I could move up--targeting Washington who could use multiple cheap young players. And I'd be willing to give them all 3 picks because I could see them turning down 14 and 20.

If I'm Boston I look at a few options. I'd love to say keep 14 because I do think there are some guys there with really high ceilings and then trade 20 and 22 for future picks.
But I could also see Ainge moving up as well. Maybe with Washington? They need talent.

Would the Bulls trade back from 7?
14, 20, 22, 2020 ATL 2nd for 7?
Celtics draft Coby White to fill the PG hole.

Do you think Boston would have any interest in #20/#22 for #16 kinda trade? Maybe target NAW with Kyrie leaving and Roziers restricted free agency?
PM me if you can help a brotha finally get an AVI.

Hard to say if Garpax would but I would do that deal. Take BPA at #14. Take #20 and Felicio, maybe Dunn too, for Conley. Sign a vet big. Maybe Pat Beverly take a little less to come home, due to his social media presence practically recruiting himself to Chicago. Management has said they want to make a playoff push this year by getting veterans.
Conley / Beverley
Lavine / Valentine /#14
Porter Jr / Hutchinson
Markkanen / #22
Carter Jr / Vet big
Conley and Porter Jr's contracts line up to end in 2021 where the FA class is much sexier. I could roll with that.

Does this count as a formal decision that could allow Boston to trade for AD?
No. It is an opt in, so he hasn't actually done anything yet. However, the deadline is in a few days, so once it passes then yes.

I agree that the Bulls will go for a vet PG and Conley is the perfect fit contractually. Not sold that 20 + Felicio + Dunn gets the deal dne though. Probably takes 14.

Might need to include 22 there, but I like that it keeps the Bulls at 14 at least. Giving up 7 for Conley feels just way too expensive for my taste.
