I just don't see how that matches up with LA's offer then.
It matches up pretty easily. Quantity doesn't mean quality. Smart is at 13 mils a year and first team all-defense, Tatum is by a mile the best young player in the deal and he's done a fairly decent job staying healthy. We have #14 and MEM pick which is nearly for sure bound to be top 10 next year or the year after that which might be top 5.
Based on what though? I think a pretty fair way to look at this is
Ingram = Tatum (I actually have Ingram > Tatum)
#4 > Smart
Lonzo > #14
Kuzma > #20
2021 LAL pick < MEM pick
Tatum ranked 33rd and 81st in RPM the last 2 years. Ingram ranked 317th and 319th. Tatum’s also younger. There’s no way Ingram is a superior asset right now. I’d say it’s more like:
Tatum >>> #4 > Lonzo = Memphis pick > Ingram = Brown > #14 = 2021 Lakers pick > #20 > Smart
