Boston's offer revolves around Jaylen Brown and a "bevy of future 1st round picks".

Tatum hasn't been made available, yet.

Right, deduced this earlier after seeing the leaked Lakers package. If the Celtics add Tatum it's done. Sounds like we're getting fancy and trying to add a bunch of future 1sts to a Jaylen package instead.

Tatum/MEM/14(maybe not both together lol) is enough at this point, imo.

Problem is that if we send Tatum we still need Smart to be in there to make the numbers work. Unless we can S&T Rozier somehow or they take Hayward, both of which seem unlikely.

Naw. KG trade was first ddb (told me in private) and the Kingsly broke it on the site. But you got the Gomes part right from his side of the story anyways. He did send me a pic of him and Gomes. But players take pics with fans all the time so who knows.

IIRC, this is how KG went down for the rest of the board:

-Celtics get screwed in the lottery. ddb makes a a cryptic post saying something like "Don't worry. A plan is being unleashed to bring the Celtics to title contention sooner rather than later"
-a random poster, during the 3rd week of July, came in and said something like "Hey guys, this is going to sound crazy, but I was in Minnesota and was at a bar. I spoke to someone who claimed to work for the Timberwolves and he said that KG was going to get traded to Boston".
-I think most of us were skeptical, because it seemed so random. Enter kingsly, Al's buddy who also ran his website (someone said he was Al's cousin, but I've never been able to verify.
-kingsly shook our board with one post - "There's some truth to this"
-when pressed further on the matter, he disclosed that Al had received a call from Ainge a few days ago telling him he had been traded, and then thanked him for his contributions as a Celtic

A few people made some good coin because I think the odds of the Celtics winning the title that year were, and I'm guessing here, either 100/1 or 1000/1. I wish I had placed money down at that time. Oh well.

I made some decent money. This is not my first username here. But could have sworn CT had this deal on draft night and the DDB had it after.

I have private messages from ddb weeks before Celtic thug ever talked about anything.

Relax. That's not how you negotiate. If the Pelicans (slow ninja edit)think AD leaves here after a year, unprotected firsts are extremely valuable.

Then if it's offer Tatum or lose AD, at that point you agree.

If NO demands Tatum I wonder if we try to keep Smart and put in Hayward instead. NO would have to include Solomon Hill but we'd have to give up less picks...

It was always going to include Jayson Tatum. The celtics have known that for 2 years now. The pelicans even waited for the celtics to be involved in the offseason because of the rose rule. They could have traded to him any team.

Include Tatum and get the deal done.

Offer is probably Brown, Smart, truckload of picks. Don’t see New Orleans biting without Tatum, but when was the last time a team received an asset like that for a departing star player.

We can make the numbers work by making the trade official after 2019 picks are signed...using that salary to count as outgoing.

I know how negotiations works. I have been following the NBA since the 1990's. You don't include your best offer in the beginning. I know that.

However, now is not the time to play hardball.

Woj was vague on the C’s offer, especially in contrast with how clearly he he described the Lakers offer of Ball Ingram and 4. Take his language and reconcile it with Smitty and the NO reporter’s tweets, and it’s pretty clear the Pelicans are broadcasting the Laker’s offer to get Ainge to make his best and final offer, if he hadn’t yet. The fact that Woj described our offer as fluid leads me to believe Ainge has offered hypothetical deals and likely not his final and best one. The problem with a “Tatum and not much else” trade is how to make it work under the salary cap...and it looks like it would be a straight up trade. I agree a legit trade including Tatum and not much else gets us AD, but what does that look like? Only two scenarios I can think of is:
Something revolving around Tatum Hayward
Or Tatum Smart Yabu and some combo of our 1st round picks and/or ojeyle and Williams
Problem is neither scenario could accurately be described as “Tatum and not much else”

Thus why I ultimately think we will not include Tatum,and we lose him to the Lakers with a final offer of something like what others have posted:
Brown Smart Yabu Semi Williams all 3 picks this year and the mem pick

If Brown and Smart basically equal Ingram and Ball then I think #4 and whatever NOP can flip it for beat the assembly of Yabu semi Williams and all our picks
