Last I heard, nobody in this draft was really worth moving up for beyond the top 3. And I’ve heard questionable things about Barrett.

I always have a problem with teams that move up and are willing to give up a lot to do so especially in a deep draft. It shows that you haven't really done your homework. You are moving up 2 spots in HOPES to capture a player that STILL might not be there and giving up quite a bit to do so. It would be ok if you moved up 2 spots and included your pick and a future 2nd at MOST and even that is a reach in THIS draft. It actually shows more expertise when you move BACK and are able to draft. Moving up shows that if you were to miss your target you never really had a target to begin with. Not saying it should never be done, just saying it should be done wisely. They are just saying we will give you darn near EVERYTHING for an unproven talent that MIGHT be there. Oh and by the way this is before we have made on offer to a guy who was our franchise.

Sad thing is we are trying to trade Bridges who actually EARNED his starting spot towards the end of basically a trial run. Why give up on something that showed IMPROVEMENT in such a short time? I could see if bridges regressed or stayed the same all year and played poorly. He and Bacon and even Frank ended the season playing quite well.

bridges earned the starting spot because the guys ahead of him were trash/dead by the end of the season lets stop this. unless being better than marv and nic batum is an accomplishment now

the only guy who earned a promotion this year was Bacon

I dont think any of these teams are all that excited about any of these players outside of the very top. I dont feel like it would be super expensive to move up, swap picks plus a player should be more than enough. that said i aint giving up Bridges

Im sorry but I think Bonnell is full of ****. IF we want to move up for whomever, say, I dont know Nassir Little, Reddish, at 7 or 8. Telling me the 12th pick and Miles Bridges isnt enough to move up 4 or 5 spots? Lol.

Doesn’t see anybody worth drafting at 12, so he would rather just use it to dump salary.

Just such a loser mentality towards this team saying we haven’t found anyone for Kemba for 8 years so nothing will change.

This is the type of draft you absolutely do not trade up in

Which is why I'm not surprised to see the Hornets may be considering it

Yes! Other teams actually get creative and don’t just muck around and say whoa is me. Look at OKC they turned one of the worst contracts in Melo into an actual asset in Schroeder.

Toronto turned a capped out team that couldn’t get over the hump into a team 1 win away from the ultimate goal.

Heading into the draft last year, Dallas had no future for their franchise after Dirk was done. They traded up for Doncic, traded for Porzingis and now probably going to sign a third allstar this summer.

So many teams are constantly changing their narrative and it’s not luck, they put together a plan and follow through.

The hornets are not that bad off, but yet everyone acts like we are in the worst spot in the NBA. We have a player who just made third team NBA, when is the last time Phoenix or Sacramento or Brooklyn have that happen? We have valuable expiring contracts and own all our picks moving forward.

We are so down on our players as a group that no wonder no other team in the league values anyone. Miles Bridges is an athletic freak who has a high basketball IQ, solid fundamentals, size to switch on defense and good work ethic and our fans are calling him a role player. He has yet to scratch the surface.

Malik Monk is a load of talent just needs to be put in the right situations and given proper direction. Yet we are saying he has negative trade value at 3 million? Has yet to get consistent minutes and coaching staff has instilled 0 confidence in him.

We wonder why teams are like.. oh Charlotte? Yeah no one on their team excites me... well yeah if their team doesn’t get excited why would another fan base. And before you say that doesn’t matter look at the narratives of players and how they stick...

Kanter can’t play defense (played major minutes on one last 4 team left). Brook Lopez soft and doesn’t rebound (one of best shot blockers this season). Javale McGee is too dumb to play (won a championship last year and started for a winning team, when players were healthy). It’s about making the best of what you have, we as a franchise and fan base are really bad at this.

We are legitimately 1 move away from turning this thing around. It won’t happen over night but you have to take the first step in order to take the second step.

I promise that I am not saying this with any ill intent, but I don’t think you realize just how lacking in overall talent the hornets are. Top to bottom they are really bad, like one of the five worst teams in the NBA bad.

Depends on what you mean by talent? We don’t have a lot top tier talent, but we have a lot of solid rotation players.

I do not think Miami has more talent.
I do not think Atlanta has more talent as of now.
I do not think Memphis has more talent.
I do not think Cleveland has more talent.
I do not think Washington has more talent.
I do not think New York has more talent.

I think we are on same level as Detroit and Brooklyn.

Honestly just a step behind Pacers, Jazz, suns and clippers.

The only team that I would agree with you on is Cleveland, and they still have Kevin love. Keep in mind I am factoring next week’s lottery picks as part of the talent component only each roster. I honestly think you’re just in denial about how lacking in overall talent the Hornets really are.

Miami has: Richardson, Winslow, Dragic, Bam, Olynyk, Waiters and Whiteside. I would take that core over the Hornets core in a heartbeat.

Atlanta has: Trae Young, John Collins, Kevin Huerter, Alex Ken,Dwayne Dedmon, Omari Spellman, Bembry, Bazemore, Alan Crabbe, plus 2 lottery picks and the #17 pick in this years draft. Hawks are way better and it’s not even close.

Memphis has: Conley, JJJ, Valencunias, Avery Bradley, Dillon Brooks, Delon Wright, Chandler Parsons, Ivan Rabb, Caboclo and soon Ja Morant; again, more top to bottom talent than Charlotte.

Cleveland: even with Love, I will concede that they’re worse than the Hornets.

Washington has: Bradley Beal, Satoransky, Thomas Bryant, Jabari Parker, Dwight Howard, Bobby Portis, Sam Dekker, Troy Brown plus #9 in this years draft. It’s close, but I would give the talent edge to the wizards.

Knicks have: DSJ, Mudiay, Kevin Knox, Nitikinla, Mitchell Robinson, Hezonja and soon to be RJ Barret. But they are in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes and could potentially land big free agents so for them it is TBD.

so NAW, Bol Bol, Kevin Porter not invited to Green Room

those invites are usually based on league intel, right?

should we expect CHA pick to come from the pool of 16 Green Room invitees?

I am starting to like the kid from Gonzaga a lot. But after reading that article, I am not against the idea of trading back with Boston to have multiple cracks at some of these centers. Jontay Porter sounds like he could be really exciting for us.

I've actually been listening to these; though admittedly they've been mostly background while I worked on other stuff. Honestly though this thing is almost 2 hours long, and this is part 2 of what I assume will be 3 parts, so there's a ton to unpack in a forum post. The gist is that these players are ranked - in descending order - between 20-11 on Vecenie's big board (so Washington is at 20 and Little is 11).

Zwicker didn't contribute to the list so he disagrees on a few occasions. Most notably he's higher on Grant Williams and ESPECIALLY Brandon Clarke, the latter of whom he views as a top 5 prospect. He's especially incredulous at the idea of having Little over Clarke and challenges Vecenie on it a bit.

It's a good listen if you've got the time and/or can deal with 1.5x speed. Lots of information, no rumors or anything just fleshing out each player.

And Keldon Johnson was also invited to the green room, so that makes 17.
