Excellent is a stretch.

He was good.

He's not good enough to be a number 1 option though and their overall talent is definitely overrated.

No, he was excellent. 14th in WS/48 (which favors PF and C's) and 4th among guards. 12th in PER and 3rd among guards. The dude was a straight beast this season. The only guard who was significantly better was Harden.

14th and 12th in something doesn't make you excellent.

Curry and Lillard were clearly better than him all season too.

Kyrie's PER in the playoffs was 15.5

Excellent players don't have a playoff PER of 15.5

He loses money signing there. He'll be on a potentially worse team. He would be the man there but he already tried that in Boston and he was a huge failure in that leadership/#1 option role. If he knows another fairly big time player will go there with him then it kind of makes sense but I doubt that.

I don't know. Kyrie is just a really, really weird dude.

Personality/leadership wise, he was a failure. Nobody seemed to like him, he couldn't bring guys together, he was moody, he turned into a drama queen at the trade deadline until the end of the season. Stats wise, he was Kyrie, yeah. The only real disappointment on the Celtics was Tatum because he didn't take the step forward that most people thought he would. He got to play with Horford who was great. Nobody should have expected much from Hayward this season so I'll consider that a wash. It's not a terrible team outside of Kyrie. I'd take the Celtics minus Kyrie over the Nets roster without Kyrie.

Not going to defend him as a person as I'm not in that locker room and I don't know the guy. I'm only talking about Kyrie as a player. He was one of the 15 best players in the NBA this year conservatively. Those guys simply don't grow on trees.

That is mostly due to the Bucks series, where they had all the answers for him and he stunk up the joint big time. Doesn't help though that the Celtics had no other true star to take some pressure off of him. Remember, this is a team paying a bajillion dollars to Big Al and a washed Gordon Heyward. Acting like Kyrie had adequate help is asinine.

Lol at all of you. Celtics could give a damn wether Kyrie stays or goes. Hes not even a top 15 player. Not like Boston is losing a generational talent. He showed his true character and who he was during the time with the Celtics.

Things have definitely changed from 8 months ago. Speculation that Kyrie may leave Boston for a NY team. Boston fans being adamant he’s staying and everyone is just speculating on rumors. Kyrie says he plans on re-signing. Now Kyrie seems to be headed to the Nets, and Boston fans saying good riddance and he’s the Nets problem now.

It would be the greatest troll ever if he came out and said, much like AD he couldn’t play for the Celtics after what they did to IT, when he was the one IT was traded for.

its kinda weird tho... brooklyn has a lot of young back court players that might want their own shine, it's somewhat similar to boston.

Except those young backcourt players hootered, hollered, and danced on the sideline whenever the other backcourt mates were having success on the court.

I have questions defensively how Russell and Kyrie fits, but Russell has already liked an IG post (like within the past couple of hours) touting him and Kyrie as "Brooklyn's Backcourt"

Russell and Levert won't have problems sharing the spotlight with Kyrie.

Dinwiddie will probably be traded just to balance out the roster though.

Those backcourt players are one of the most unselfish groups in the league. It didn't matter who finished the game.

I don't know how many times Russell got yanked by Atkinson during a game for being sloppy over the last two seasons and every time he swallowed his pride and was cheering other guys on. All that mattered was the win.

If the NBA actually put us on national television, people would really give this team a lot more respect.

Won't happen dude. S&T's with a completely unrestricted FA almost never happen, especially when the team signing him has cap space. I honestly can't think of a single instance where that scenario took place, can you?

Why would Kyrie gut the team he wants to play for?

If all he cared about is money, he'd stay in Boston.

You're not getting anything.

Am I crazy in thinking this would easily the biggest FA signing in Nets history? I truly can’t think of a single big one at all. That seems impossible, but I can think of trades, but not a single significant free agent.

This.

Once I started thinking about it, I can't recall a single time an unrestricted FA went to a team that had the cap space to sign him outright via a S&T.

They used to be in New Jersey, only recently moved to Brooklyn

So it's not that crazy to think. New Jersey doesn't have the panache of a New York address.

Not under this CBA. The previous CBA allowed S&Ts to get the extra year & larger raises, so players pushed for it (Lebron was S&T to Miami). That's no longer possible.
