Immensely talented, unable to lead, forced his way out of an ideal situation as a #2 to try and be a #1, etc.

He's not nearly as bad He's pretty much the root cause of all of the problems that the knicks had (other than Dolan himself of course) in the mid 2000's.
People still refer to people 'pulling a marbury' on here almost 15 years after all that drama went down there. The only other player i've heard referred to when talking about NBA drama that far after is Latrell Sprewell (both that '12 million isn't enough to feed my family' and him strangling his coach).

Somewhat. I will say that before I opened the thread my initial thought was, "Well Kyrie" and did not have anybody else in mind.

He's not even the NBA PG that averaged 19+ ppg and 7+ apg over a decade plus long NBA career most at the root cause for the Knicks' problems.

I honestly don't know which player caused you more grief than Marbury during the mid 2000's and that's saying something.

Wow what a intriguing cliffhanger this thread title was. And then I opened it and it was Kyrie out of all people...considering how under the radar he has been I was really surprised. Today out of all days too....insane

Been in the back of my mind for a while. Irving has a Starbury-esque mix of (pointlessly) edgy mentality and cockiness, and remember he did force his way off one really good team already for shaky reasons. Not saying that Kyrie will go to the lows Marbury did but I do think it's very possible that his mental stuff (whatever it is, no point on speculating) will get in the way of him progressing as a player and settling into his prime. It's milder though so this is definitely a vibe and not a full comparison.

Well you can just walk right off the flat edge of it if you want.

That would be Eddy Curry or Jerome James.

Eddy Curry was just a bad overpaid player. I don't remember him causing as much drama as Marbury did.

Kyrie has entirely too many threads devoted to him for barely being a Top 5 PG.
