The last time Danny made similar declarations we ended up with an ill-advised stashing strategy and a couple horrible picks in Yabu and Zizic. Either pick the best players available (and there will be some guys with upside available) or trade the picks.

Right, which is why 20 and 22 for 12 or 16 is a good deal..?

Yeah I heard that too. But no one knows what Ainge is going to do because of the extra uncertainty this summer.
He might still trade for AD and a few of those picks might be included. He might make a few other trades and include those picks if he doesn’t get AD.
He might slash a pick or two or keep all 3 1st round picks.
I’m going into the draft hoping we keep all 3 picks and pick really good players or players that can turn out to be really good and go from there.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
It’s a tough draft because it’s so variable - there could be great players on the board at 14, 20 and 22 - or they could all get snatched up before we’re on the clock ..

That theyre above others and in tier 2.
Culver struggled immensely vs NBA caliber defenders. Against Hunter, whos a much better team defender than man defender, Culver couldnt score. I have serious doubts that he’ll ever be able to score with high enough efficiency to ever be a star at the next level, which means hes not tier 2 to me.
Barrett is similar. I like his vision much better and his ability to create his shot much higher than Culver, but his shooting is straight bad. Itll close driving lanes on him as people will play off of him and his game will suffer. I dont see him scoring with high enough efficiency to be a star either.

Re: 2019 NBA draft
That's fair, they would not be tier 2 in a bunch of drafts, I think RJ is the one I agree with you the most on and I have thought about moving him down, but Culver has enough going for him defensively in terms of being special and impactful to remain there
Both have size and the frame and body to be real strong players, that's another differentiator for me between them and the rest

Re: 2019 NBA draft
Clarke is a more athletic version of Jordan Mickey. He is an interesting player. Not much offensive skills. But man, can he bring energy and defense. He can guard SGs, SFs, and PFs. He doesn’t back down.
But he is 6’8 with a short reach, weighs only 210 at the moment and has offensive limitations.

I have a feeling this draft is going to have at least 4 or 5 players at 15 or after who will be better than some of the players taken 1-14.
It’s a deep draft.

Is be fine drafting Clarke at 14 but him being mentioned on the top 10 tells you a lot about this draft. Guy like him is normally on the 20s

Maybe so. I think "deep" draft is usually code for "bad", and don't think any of the guys outside the top 2 have star potential. Maybe you can find a few solid starters and role players, but I don't see a lot of talent in this class.

If you want a player who can potentially guard 2s, 3s and 4s, I'd look at Nas Little, Keldon Johnson, Grant Williams, and Talen Horton-Tucker..

Bol already looks like he has a better handle than Jaylen... Bol, could be another unicorn or the latest in a long line of failed twiggy Big Men. Still the shot's there and that's half the battle.
