You're taking a very emotional approach and your line of thinking is very personal and emotional. I don't operate that way. I don't let my personal feelings get in the way of the ultimate goal.

KD is also a beta. He's also an mvp talent with two NBA championships and I would take that beta on my team any day. Well.........maybe not now but... Yeah.

Also, I don't think I'm getting KG. I think I'm getting AD.

KD is a beta who won by joining a 73 win team lol. Do you think the current Celtics are a 73 win team? And thats before depleting our roster just to get AD here in te first place.

Not sure how this is an emotional or personal take at all really..just dealing in reality here. It seems to me you're looking for a short cut but not taking into account the long term ramifications if AD bolts (which he's already given every indication of doing)

A short cut? I wouldn't call looking to acquire a superstar a "short cut". That's kind of like...........required.....to win championships. Long term ramifications? If we trade for AD and he leaves we won't be a championship team. If we don't, we won't be a championship team.

Either way we won't be close at all to being a championship team and we will be rebuilding after losing both kyrie and AD. At least if we go the AD route we give ourselves a chance to both win in the first year and win him over and get him to stay.

You're simplifying this way too much.

AD leaving = not a championship team
Not trading for AD = Not a championship team

The two above are not as equal as youre making it out to be

Scenario #1 we are left with half of what we have right now currently
Scenario #2 we still have draft picks, both of Brown and Tatum, Smart, etc

AD has proven he comes nowhere close to a title when it's just him as the star. What's our other avenue to a star once we trade most of our chips for AD? No cap space, no picks, no more Tatums to flip.

Basically. Overpay, then you guys get AD the following year. That’s what it comes down to.

Talk to kyrie and ask him is re-signing or not. In or out. If he is in then include Jayson Tatum and get it over with.

So what's our offer to the Pelicans?

Beal, Smart, Memphis pick?

Problem dealing for Beal is we don't have the salary to match. Where's Tyler Zeller and Amir Johnson when you need them?

Why am I seeing reports that Kyrie still might come back? I thought Brooklyn was a sure thing at this point? I guess I will trust reload he's gone. If he really is on the fence though I would easily give up Tatum, hoping that would get him to come back.

Yea, that's a lots of money. Would take another contract, lol... and our roster doesn't have mid-tier type contracts(outside of Smart)...
Good assessment:

The theatre is better if the story remains a mystery tho we will all know the end

Or you know, still try to get the best deal possible? All we need to do is beat any other team's offer. If Brown, Smart & picks beat out LA or anyone else's offer, why should we give up Tatum?

I am as anxious as anyone to get a deal done, but that is no reason to just throw in Tatum, regardless of what is going on with Kyrie. We all just need to be patient.

No the reports out there are saying "Kyrie hasn't ruled out the Celtics yet." Reload put chance of Irving coming back at 5%, IINM. Maybe smaller. He's essentially gone. Forgot who the source is, but it basically said there's nothing the Celtics could do that could alter Kyrie's decision.

I don’t think thats true. They will not have the same cap space next year which is why they are pushing so hard now to get it done via trade. Also, if they get him in a trade they can still sign another max guy this year. I think its all about THIS year for LAL.

The fact that reports say Ainge has been unwilling to include Tatum should tell you all you need to know about Kyrie. Just logic.

No because talent is what wins in the NBA. We had a team of guys who wanted to be here and we got nowhere with it.

But it's not about talent or business. Having great players is useless if they don't want to be here or are looking to leave the first chance they get.

We can't make Kyrie and AD be Celtics for life and give their all for us. By all accounts neither want to play in Boston and we saw Kyrie's sulky **** this season. I'm sure Cleveland wanted LeBron to play his entire career there but he wanted out twice and they had no say.

If the celtics give up Tatum, they can't lose AD. I feel like they will do almost everything to appease Rich Paul short of putting him on the coaching staff.
