I'd rather have AD, Tatum & Conely, than AD, Tatum and Kyrie. AD's not an alpha like LeBron, and Kyrie's moodiness would likely ruin any chemistry...

Rich Paul wont be his agent if he resigns here
Maybe AD can fire him and hire Rich Gotham's twin brother to be his agent.

You guys think today will be slow and quiet with the finals game tonight? I'm dying for a Woj/Sham/reload/ddb-bomb

Not sure how this is an emotional or personal take at all really..just dealing in reality here. It seems to me you're looking for a short cut but not taking into account the long term ramifications if AD bolts (which he's already given every indication of doing)
A short cut? I wouldn't call looking to acquire a superstar a "short cut". That's kind of like...........required.....to win championships. Long term ramifications? If we trade for AD and he leaves we won't be a championship team. If we don't, we won't be a championship team.
Either way we won't be close at all to being a championship team and we will be rebuilding after losing both kyrie and AD. At least if we go the AD route we give ourselves a chance to both win in the first year and win him over and get him to stay.
You're simplifying this way too much.
AD leaving = not a championship team
Not trading for AD = Not a championship team
The two above are not as equal as youre making it out to be
Scenario #1 we are left with half of what we have right now currently
Scenario #2 we still have draft picks, both of Brown and Tatum, Smart, etc
AD has proven he comes nowhere close to a title when it's just him as the star. What's our other avenue to a star once we trade most of our chips for AD? No cap space, no picks, no more Tatums to flip.
I agree they aren't completely equal
I would rather be in scenario 1. A complete rebuild and a lottery team instead of a middling team going no where. There's no worse place to be in the NBA than where we would likely be in scenario 2.
Brown tatum and smart as our core is doing nothing in this league other than being just good enough to not completely suck. Which is actually bad and the last thing we need.
The point is, neither scenario is GOOD, or IDEAL........and there's only one scenario of the 3 in which we have any chance to compete for championships anytime soon. I'll give you a hint to which one that is............the one with the superstar on it.

Yes but there is no indication we can get AD without giving Tatum.

I don't think they need to do much. If AD is playing hard and can avoid injuries(we can rest him), I think he will find out why the Celtics are arguably the best sports franchise in ALL of sports. And why it's special to be a Celtic- the love, the fans, everything. Get Tommy to invite him to dinners and hang out with him, have Horfie father him the entire timem, etc, etc(
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Basically. Overpay, then you guys get AD the following year. That’s what it comes down to.
I don’t think thats true. They will not have the same cap space next year which is why they are pushing so hard now to get it done via trade. Also, if they get him in a trade they can still sign another max guy this year. I think its all about THIS year for LAL.
No, don’t get me wrong. The Lakers want the deal to happen in the next deal days. Lebron isn’t going to wait another year when he is a year older. The Laker fan base is putting pressure on ownership too.
It’s the Lakers deal to lose as I’ve said earlier. In the end they will be bidding against themselves and will overpay.

What? Come on!
Tatum plays like every game. Davis not so. Tatum has more upside is younger and cheaper. I wonder what the odds are of Davis playing in the playoffs are? Wonder what the odds he plays all playoff games are? Now compare those odds to Tatums odds. Tatum lead his team to eastern conference finals minutes away from trip to finals. Well Davis teams mostly suck.
Tatum wins.

I think, if we can get him without giving up Tatum, you absolutely take that risk. If not, oh well, at least we made the Lakers pony up. Win-win.

No I agree there, neither scenario is a good one. I would rather scenario 2 though and wait for hayward and horford to get off the books, and then depending how tatum and brown develop either trade them for picks or pay them accordingly and work with whatever cap space we have after that. Maybe we hit a superstar with the memphis pick. But sending Tatum for a 1 year AD just seems so wasteful..I get the same vibe from him as I get from Kyrie....absolutely zero desire to play in Boston

Well, NO has to find something that tops Brown, Smart, picks, etc. first.

That's the hope with him coming here. We convinve him LA is not the best choice. It shouldn't be hard to do. I think the Lebron injury and him missing the rest of this past season will continue to get worse for him. He can't beat father time. Once Davis realizes he won't be playing with Lebron the legend, but Lebron the old man, he could rethink staying on with us.

They should be happy to get Smart Rozier couple draft picks and some filler.

I cant believe Danny does this if Kyrie bolts. It just doesnt make sense. Certainly not at a price point where he can atleast risk it.

I know we're focused on Anthony Davis but I actually would be pretty interested in bringing Bradley Beal if we could get him for a little bit cheaper. Guys a great player, seems to have a great attitude, and if Kyrie leaves and Horford restructures we might have some money to not have to send out an exact contract match.
Just a nonDavis thought.

Honestly. That Laker package is better than this deal. Even without Kuzma.
