Igor Kokoskov hired by Kings as assistant

The Sacramento Kings are hiring former Suns coach Igor Kokoskov as an assistant coach, league source tells ESPN.

Love this move! Don't know much about him except I remember hearing a lot of good things last summer. Whats your thoughts?

I like the move, I think he got the short end of the stick last year in Phoenix but by all accounts he was a very respected coach. I don't think we have a lead assistant or associate head coach yet do we? I think it was hinted that Roy Rana was getting that role but was it confirmed?

Igor is a smart basketball mind. He will be good. What ever happened with interviewing Hornacek for the lead assistant job? I guess they didn't think he was a fit? Was there any more news other than the interview?

Was a huge Igor supporter for Suns head coaching position last season and was bummed he was let go, was kind of set to fail.
Should be nice addition to the staff, was a long time assistant for Larry Brown, Flip, Gentry and Quin Snyder. A good offensive coach and should be nice for Fox´s development.

I haven't heard any followup on the Hornaceck interview but it sounded like Roy Rana might have the lead assistant job. It was reported he was hired as "chief of staff-assistant coach" but I'm not sure what that even means :lol:

Absolutely love this hire. This is a really good get IMO. He has tremendous experience. I didn't really see much of the Suns this season, but was surprised he was let go after one season.
Hopefully between Luke and Igor we have one of the top offences in the NBA next season.

Luke Walton is still on thin ice due to the allegations, so Hornacek might be staking out a more solid situation. The interview was pre allegations

Nice to get in Igor who is a legit next in line kind of guy, and I’ll initially assume the report of Rana being chief of staff was presumptuous.

With Vlade/Igor the foundation is there for a 3 year max for Vuc, before Bagley comes up (though it might take more than that, I think Vuc will be sought after)

I would say that is right on the money.
