I love tatum kid is a studddddddd and I wish there was a way to keep him and get AD. Kings pick screwed us- if we had top 4 pick with Memphis brown smart and Williams we could get him without Tatum.

that didn’t happen and we are here now. This is why this trade is such a divisive issue, brown is a nice player and he has potential but he’s not the home prospect the pels want and waited for.

I did lol, but thank goodness no social media then. Also I was a much less educated basketball fan in my youth.

That was actually a really crappy trade. Probably Ainges worst one. Pretty sure he's admitted he botched that up. Reaf was horrible.

yet it got us the picks of west and tony allen along with the contract of theo ratlif. That contract of theo ratlif gave us the large expiring needed to trade for KG.

Celtics had picks for days thanks to the nets and all they have to show for it is brown and Tatum.

They hit an HR in 2 of those picks. Third was used in Kyrie trade. That freakin trade paid off.

Me either ..just want to point out, that no need to offer Tatum, because Brown offer still beat LAL.

Yea but the difference is you aren't "rebuilding 11 months later"

If he bails in that scenario on top of what Irving appears to be doing, you're throwing away a good 90% of everything you've accomplished since 2013.

Ainge would be out the door within the year through his own decision because you cant get fired if you're a Celtic but ainge doesnt have another decade in him to start a complete overhaul.

The NBA isn't that hard to rebuild in. You'd have cap space again eventually and top picks. As a Rockets fan I kinda wish we'd trade Harden and move on from this team that is now failed. There's nothing worse than knowing you aren't rebuilding and also have no chance at a title anymore. A lot of people think that now because Durant is hurt/will leave GS that suddenly the Rockets will have a better shot at winning the west. They've used up their share of excuses and it's time to move on. Stars don't grow on trees but when you've made your run multiple times with multiple cores and come up short it's time to reset the switch.

The Celtics can take that gamble and if it works you'll be glad you did. if you don't get AD, how long are you going to wait before trying to acquire another star? Who will be out there?

I wouldn't call it a homerun I personally think both those guys are overrated on here.

yeah they had Kyrie for a year-and-a-half and now ironically the nets are going to get him.

IIRC his contract was needed to get KG. Ainge plays chess. Always thinking many moves ahead. Sometimes they will work. Others they don’t. But he doesn’t never have a plan. Not sure why people think with such tunnel vision.

exactly.

Brown
Smart
Memphis
2 firsts

That's a haul for AD. Brown is a rising 15 ppg scorer. Smart all nba defensive guard and the memphis pick. Three firsts including one possible lottery pick?

I would take smart over ball bc I love smart, he’s a warrior all balls and grit and a tough SOB and I’d rather be in the trenches with him than lonzo. Lonzos value to teams around the league is still higher than smarts ( even if I disagree )- just more upside and still on a cost controlled contract for 2 more years.

If true, NO must think the Lakers deal sucks.

Lakers need to add Kuz.. Celtics need to add Tatum.. Whoever does gets AD.. simple

So losing Irving for nothing and turning around and trading a good core of your assets for Davis who hypoterhically does exactly what his agent promises hes gonna do is fine by you?

Let's be thankful you aren't running the team then.

Well I’m glad you can speak for me, Davis and his agent. Perhaps you should apply for the Cs GM position. According to the all knowing you, it should be available soon. Hope you get it so World Peace can finally be achieved.

Just so were clear. Irving bailed for zero compensation for the celtics. he didnt enjoy being a Celtic. Being here didnt impress him and ainge couldnt sell him on his plan.

And you're fine with literally doing it again mere days after that for a player who has said through his agent the same thing? That's what you're saying? You tell me?

Now, are you also saying if hypothetically that happens and Davis bails and this time next year the celtics are out the 2018 nets pick, the Memphis pick, and a combo of smart/brown/Tatum that you're fine with that? God knows I wouldnt wat to put words in your mouth.

Just to be clear you have no clue what I’m fine with. What I will say is Ainge knows so much more than both you and me. Only one of us can’t grasp that and lives in a vacuum.

The Pelicans clearly don't value that 4th pick the Lakers have. It wouldn't move the needle because the decent GMs around the league know this draft is relatively weak if you're trying to get a budding star. I'm sure there will be some hidden gems and surprises but this reeks of the draft similar to the 2016 draft.

The Kings pick could have been better sure, but that Memphis pick is a key pick to keep. It's like a wild card pick you can keep in your pocket if you do get AD and want to acquire another star later. It'll be very valuable with the direction Memphis is headed.

And given them away for s player who walks away is an equally awful trade

Now I know, we cant predict what a player will do. But if Irving does it and Davis does it too the following summer, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

This isnt rocket science. If Irving honestly bails then ainge risk reward radar has to be in full use
