I like Mokoka as a stash candidate also.

That is a bad idea. Unless you use part of the MLE to sign him you can't offer more than a 2 year minimum contract. So best case he's entirely healthy and puts up good numbers in season 2 and he immediately hits RFA. If you really like Porter you draft him at 30.

If he's healthy and puts up good numbers in year 2 and is a sought after RFA -- I feel like that's a pretty good outcome! We can either match him or let him walk having invested a roster spot for one year to get good numbers another year for peanuts. What am I missing?

Opportunity cost. Risk reward ratio. Avoid making tough decisions. Of course the best outcome is a pretty good outcome.

If you draft Porter with the #30 pick you potentially have have 4 years of team control including a clearer picture on wether to sign him to a big contract or not. All for taking him a few spots higher. Imagine Jokic hit RFA after his first year. Would he still be on the Nuggets?

Not gonna lie. At first glance, I thought you were having your George Allen moment.

How far up would we have to go to get Bol? Naturally a risk but getting him a couple years with Brook and Suki could pay big time long term dividends

He should go 2-5 imo.

Wow. Last handful of mocks I’ve seen have him between 12-25. Obviously that’s way out of our range. Surely he won’t go before Zion, Ja and RJ.

I think he's in the same realm as MPJ last year. He could go as high as 2 and as low as 20. There will be teams who really like him and teams who don't like him. Depending how the board shapes up anything could happen.

Where would you take Porzingis looking nimble coming off a navicular fracture in this draft? I feel like anything lower than 5 is negligent.

You don't have to convince me that Bol Bol is definately a top 5 talent. It's been quite a while but I've posted a statistic in this thread which showed points per posession in isolation situations and Bol Bol was at 1.18 ppp. To me he's an offensive talent in the realm of KAT. Has some questions regarding defense but if you hit on him you get a true #1 option. I'd draft him ahead of Morant, possibly ahead of Barrett and I'm not sure where I rate Sekou in this.
But Bol Bol has some yellow flags. Slender frame, supposedly attitude problems, age, injury history. For some teams those may be dealbreakers.

I look at Bol Bol and I see someone who's 7'3". That's tall.

Real tall.

You just don't see those sort of intangibles every draft.

Bol Bol has all the talent in the world, but that frame has never held up well. I'd be hesitant to take him in the top 3, but ecstatic to get him in the mid/late lotto.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Just watched a bunch of Carsen Edwards and I’m fully on board if he’s there at 30. Gives off some strong Lillard vibes. He’s slightly smaller, but has a great pull-up, unlimited range and explodes at the rim. He makes up for a lack of weight with really good length, quick feet and a strong frame.

There are so few guys at 30 who feel like the could become legit all stars. Carsen is one of them, if not the only.

1. Bazley
2. Gafford
3. King
4. Okeke
These are my top four favorites right now at our pick. If Gafford was a better shooter he would easily be my number one. I think he will improve his shooting over time though if he stays focused. I love Kevin Porter but I think he will be off the board and I could easily see him wasting his talent. Porter reminds me of Harden but kind of a head case.

Okay that would be my plan for the draft
1) If Bol Bol or Sekou drop past 10 find a way to grab them with #30/DDV/DJ/Brown/future pick
2) Trade the pick + Snell for cap space (either 2 or 3 team trade)
3) Use #30/Brown to trade up a few spots
4) draft BPA I'd someone you like drops to you
5) Trade #30 for a future protected FRP
6) Draft King/Okeke/Samanic

Can anyone explain me why Gafford? I'm not sure he should be drafted.

Gafford gives me Deyonta Davis vibes. Good, but not great athlete with next to no skill and questionable work ethic. No thanks. Would take a swing on Bazley or Jontay Porter over him pretty easily.

The problem with guys like Gafford is that you have tons of former draftees with similar profiles that developed in the league and still didn't get a second contract and are now available for the min. So you now you sign Gafford with your draft pick who has to be significantly better than my guy Cheick Diallo who has had a season with elite efficiency and is shooting over 70% from the line. And was arguably a better prospect than Gafford is now. Or take someone else than Diallo my point still stands. Don't pick centers unless they can shoot, defend the rim at an elite level or have an elite skill.

All I know about Gafford is he was a projected lotto pick last year. If he's as bad as you say he is, it's just another example of nobody knowing dick about anything.
